Regal Custom Painting

We were looking for someone to do some painting before we moved in our house. John returned my call quickly and came out the next day for a quote. His price was comparable to the other quotes that I received but I ended up going with someone in town.

I received an estimate which was much higher than the company I chose. Communication was delivered via email; not by phone.

I highly recommend Regal Custom Painting for all work.

Their staff did a great job from coming out for an on-time estimate appointment, to a great color consultation. We were unsure what colors to use, they guided us through our choices and made it very easy with a fantastic result.

A detailed estimate was received for the work effort and assistance was given in picking out colors. The work was completed within the estimated time period and the guys were prompt and very curtious. My husband and I are very happy with the results and will call them when we need to do more painting in the future.

They did a good job. It has been quite awhile, but they did not do a bad job of I would have remembered.

He's outstanding. He is very conscientious about what he is doing. He truly cares about his work.

We were disappointed since they had come out to give us an estimate for indoor painting a year ago and we were favorably impressed. We had pretty much been planning to use them as long as their estimate was reasonable, but obviously we went with someone else.

John, the man in charge was very prompt and courteous. I liked what he had to say about his company and how they worked which is why I hired them. He sent Stan and his partner out to do the work. They worked VERY slowly and a job that I was told would take 3-5 days, took 2 1/2 weeks. Included in my original request for painting was the re-staining of my outdoor deck. It was supposed to be completed by June 23rd for a large barbeque that I was hosting. It is now August 25th...the work was not done nor have I heard back from Stan. I liked these folks very much. Very polite and did the job well and cleanly. However, I will not hire them again due to their inability to produce the finished job in a timely manner.

Initial appointment for a proposal was rescheduled. Questions left on voicemails about the proposal were returned after 3 or 4 days. The scheduled start date was pushed back by two weeks. I had to walk the building again to discuss the scope of work with the sub contractor. The job was not prepared for paint. Cracks were not caulked, peeling paint was not scraped. Overspray on surrounding areas. One coat applied was self evident. The company stood by the satisfaction guarantee and worked with me to try and satisfy. Overall, it was not a professional job and I put too much work into policing that was not necessary.

They've given me an estimate, and I signed the contract and faxed it back in. I've spoken with them on the phone a few times, and one time they scheduled a time to come out and didn't show. Another time I spoke to Shawn, and he said they would get back to me so we could schedule another time, and they didn't get back to me.

Workers were polite and prompt. Owner was extremely consistent about keeping in touch and giving updates on their progress. I was a little disappointed with some of the carpentry workmanship. I was also disappointed that workers just painted over vine residue on the wood instead of scraping it off before painting. To their credit, they gladly redid the work when asked.

OVERALL WORK WAS OK. SOME CONFUSION REGARDING WHETHER THEY WERE GOING TO SPOT PRIME OR PRIME THE WHOLE WALLS. JOHN WAS VERY POLITE AND RETURNED PHONE CALLS AND EMAILS PROMPTLY. DID THE ESTIMATE ON SHORT NOTICE. ACTUAL PAINTER WAS A LITTLE RUDE. THIS IS THE SECOND PAINT JOB I'VE HAD J&J DO FOR ME.

OWNER WAS FRIENDLY, CAPABLE AND ON TIME. WE DECIDED NOT TO PAINT AT THIS TIME, BUT WOULD CALL HIM AGAIN IN THE FUTURE. FOLLOW-UP: WE LATER CALLED JOHN TO GIVE US AN ESTIMATE ON A SMALL PAINTING JOB. WE WERE ON A TIGHT TIME FRAME AND JOHN WAS UNABLE TO FIT US INTO HIS SCHEDULE, BUT REFERRED US TO ANOTHER PAINTER WHO WOULD BE ABLE TO ACCOMMODATE US.

IF THE ONLY WORK I DID WITH J&J WAS PAINTING, I PROBABLY WOULD HAVE HAD A DECENT EXPERIENCE. THE PRICE WAS REASONABLE, THEIR WORK WAS GOOD (NOT GREAT) ALTHOUGH THEY WERE A LITTLE MESSY. BUT THEIR CARPENTER SUBCONTRACTOR DID A LOUSY JOB. JOHN TOOK A LITTLE RESPONSIBILITY AND GOT THE CARPENTER TO FIX SOME STUFF, BUT THE JOB STILL LOOKS POORLY DONE, AND IT TOOK MANY MONTHS OF PHONE CALLS FOR THEM TO COME BACK. I HAD BEEN PLANNING ON HAVING MORE PAINTING DONE. JOHN KNEW THIS AND GAVE ME A GUILT TRIP TO DO THE WORK WITH HIM WHILE THEY WERE THERE FINISHING THE REWORK. I AGREED, WITH THE CAVEAT THAT ALL THE WORK HAD TO BE DONE IN ONE BLOCK OF TIME. HE AGREED TO COME BACK THE NEXT MONDAY TO COMPLETE THE TOUCH-UPS ON THE CARPENTRY AND DO THE NEW PAINTING. HE CALLED TO SAY A MEMBER OF HIS TEAM COULD NOT MAKE IT, BUT THAT THEY PLANNED TO COME ANYWAY AND START THE JOB. I CALLED BACK TO ASK HOW THEY COULD POSSIBLY COMPLETE THE JOB, AND HE NEVER CALLED ME BACK. I HAVE GIVEN UP ON THEM.

VERY THOROUGH VERY NEAT AND CLEAN. DID A BEAUTIFUL JOB. I'LL CALL THEM BACK TO PAINT THE REST OF THE HOUSE IN THE SPRING. VERY PROFESSIONAL GROUP OF YOUNG PEOPLE.

THEY DID A GOOD OVERALL JOB. THEY KEPT THEIR WORK AREAS CLEAN. I HAD SOME PUNCH-LIST ISSUES THAT THEY GLADLY CORRECTED WITHOUT ANY HASSLE. THEY ALSO HELPED WITH COLOR SCHEMES AND GAVE DESIGN IDEAS. I WOULD USE THEM AGAIN.

JOHN WAS VERY PROFESSIONAL AND RESPONSIVE. WE NEEDED TO POWER WASH THE DECK, BUT THEY DID NOT CLEAN IT AS WELL AS WE WOULD HAVE LIKED. HE DID NOT CHARGE US FOR THE POWERWASHING. THEY STAINED THE DECK AND WE WERE VERY SATISFIED. THEY COULD HAVE CLEANUP UP SCRAPED OFF PAINT FROM HOUSE BETTER, BUT THEY WERE MIXED IN WITH (MANY) SEEDS THAT HAD FALLEN FROM THE TREES. WE DIDN'T EXPECT THEM TO CLEAN THE SEEDS UP. WE WOULD HIRE THEM AGAIN.

WHEN LOOKING FOR A PAINTER, I RECEIVED 5 ESTIMATES. QUOTES RANGED FROM $2300-3,500. I WENT WITH J&J FOR THE SIMPLE REASON THAT JOHN REALLY SEEMED TO WANT MY BUSINESS AND TOOK THE TIME TO REALLY ANSWER ALL OF MY QUESTIONS. ONLY ONE OTHER COMPANY ACTUALLY FOLLOWED UP WITH ME AFTER THE INITIAL ESTIMATE. I WOULDN'T HIRE ANYONE ELSE IN THE FUTURE.

WHEN I HAD TO CALL THEM BACK ABOUT A PROBLEM THEY WERE RESPONSIVE AND FIXED IT.

JOHN, THE OWNER, HELPED US WITH COLOR.

AFTER FAILING TO SHOW UP THREE TIMES, I CALLED ANOTHER COMPANY WHO WERE GREAT! I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY. THEY DID NOT SHOW UP OR CALL FOR THREE APPOINTMENTS.

THEY ARE UNBELIEVABLE IN THE QUALITY OF THEIR WORK AND THE PROMPTNESS IN WHICH THEY RESPOND TO ESTIMATES ETC. I AM 100% SATISFIED --- WHICH UNFORTUNATELY IS RARE FOR WORKMANSHIP IN THE CHICAGO MARKET. THEY ARE SIMPLY THE BEST!!!

AL HAS THE KNACK TO FIX MOST ANYTHING.

THIS COMPANY DID AN EXCELLENT JOB ON OUR HOME. WE DID RUN INTO A PROBLEM WITH THE ORIGINAL PRICE QUOTED. JOHN & I CAME TO AN AGREEMENT WHICH PLEASED BOTH PARTIES. I WOULD DEFINITELY HIRE THEM AGAIN!
