My shower remodel by Bath Planet was just finished. My installer was Mike and the minute he opened the back of his vehicle and I saw the thickness of the material I said "Whoa, theres been some kind of mistake". I had been led to believe that Bath Planet used much thicker acrylic than anyone else and was shown the difference in examples twice in the presentation. Mike explained that is true of bathtubs but not shower walls. I didn't feel real good about that and feel the saleman should have made the difference clear because I was buying shower wall material not a bathtub. Mike got going and gave us a showroom perfect installation. Based on the quality of the product and the installer's professionalism I would feel comfortable giving Bath Planet a recommendation to a friend.

It was a very positive experience. Everyone we dealt with were super friendly and professional. I would highly recommend Bath Planet to anyone. They took the time to make sure it was done right. They came in at 8 am and didn't stop until it was done. (about 6 pm) They were polite and exacting.

It took a long time as there was mold was present when the surface covering was taken down. The men stayed with the job until the work was done. Overall, the job was done very professionally and clean-up was thorough. The job estimator worked patiently to keep the costs reasonable and affordable.

This came out more beautiful than I can tell you. I had a tub liner put in and unlike their competitors it does not move or sink down. The walls look like marble. the area around the window in the shower look framed. Work done in one day and they cleaned up and the worker was helpful and very knowledgeable. It might be a bit more expensive but well worth it especially when reselling comes along.

Bath planet was easy to work with. The installer was courteous efficient and cleaned up the job site after words. BUYER BEWARE! Bath Planet has good advertising and sales technique and high prices which make you think they are a reputable company that will do things the ‘right way’. But beware, as soon as the 3 days you have to cancel the contract, the relationship quickly turns adversarial where they start saying what you have to do for them, rather then what they can do for you. The will say that they will handle permits, but that is only because they try to convince you it is not needed. But if you call the village and they say it is needed, beware, they turn against you. Even though the contract explicitly states via an agreed upon addition, that they would handle the permits, every time you call the company, the first thing you will here in every conversation is ‘we don’t handle that, it is all you’. If you enjoy arguing with them and pointing back to the contract, then have fun with that, you will be able to do that many, many times. They will say ‘no surprises’, we will handle everything, that’s what makes us better than the other guys. Don’t believe it! In fact, check the language on the back of the contract. I even had them write in some language to cover those ‘surprises’, and they still argued about it. They were unwillingly to compromise on anything even when I offered to pay $335 of the permit cost which they should have covered. Then they try to bully you into doing their bidding. If you don’t do this, I will sue you. I will put a lien on your house. Is that the company you want to work with, I wouldn’t recommend it. I would strongly recommend adding language to your contract that gives you an out, such as ‘if not completed within x time, homeowner can cancel’. Or better yet, get a lawyer to draft some language for you. Because even when it is explicitly in there, they will still argue with you, send harassing letters, and refuse to give your down payment back. Fun stuff… learn from my mistakes… stay away.

Don't use. The company points fingers internally when things are not right and they don't return phone calls. Plus, they installed an inferior product and told me it was made by Moen but they cannot provide documentation that the components installed were manufactured by Moen. Plus, their installation job when finished left a 18" x 1/4" gap between the bath tub and the wall and the shower head leaked. They came back to fix the gap and the leak.. and 2 days later the shower head is leaking again.. Not professional at all During one call, the sales manager actually yelled at me. On another instance, I called on Friday @ 7 am to fix a problem from their installation that was 2 weeks in use.. and was told I'll get a call in 24 - 48 hours... I called at 4 pm on the following Monday and was told that their service manager was gone for the day and he'll call me tomorrow. When I stated the 48 hour time period.. I was told and I quote "Sir, legally the 48 hours is not over until Tuesday morning"... I hope people read this post and don't hire Bath Planet because the entire experience has been simply horrible....

This guy and his coworker did it all and did it in 2 days! I was really impressed that they didn't just handle one thing, but that they did everything! It was very convenient and they were very clean during the process. I am planning to use them for another bathroom.
Description of Work: They completely redid a bathroom: installed a new surround in the shower, new energy efficient toilet, new base for the shower, shower door, new pedestal sink, new plumbing fixtures, new tile floors, including some new subfloor from rotting.

DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY!!!! We purchased a walk-in tub from BathPlanet of Chicagoland in September of 2013, and installation was done on October 29, 2013. They were called back twice immediately after the install because there were leaks after their installation. It was like pulling teeth to get them to schedule a time to come out. Now, Sunday, August 3, 2014 the waste/overflow assembly on the walk-in tub, broke off from the tub when opening the drain after a bath. I called the 800 number that night and BathPlanet of Chicagoland called us back on Monday, August 4. The representative on the phone said that the sales manager would get back to us within 24 to 48 hours, and that he is the only one that schedules all of the service calls. We ended up having to call back instead. Then, the sales person waited until Wednesday, August 6th to inform my mother that he had to find out if it was something BathPlanet had to repair or if American Standard had to do it. Charlie from American Standard contacted my mother immediately on Wednesday, August 6th. He instructed us to take pictures of the items that needed repair and to email them to him. That afternoon I called Charlie and discussed our issues and I come to find out that American Standard has nothing to do with the repairs and installation except to get parts to the installer. BathPlanet made it sound like they had to find out whether they or American Standard was responsible for the work. If American Standard is only the manufacturer, which they are, installation is not their responsibility. In my conversation with Charlie, I find out that I have a fiberglass tub, instead of the acrylic tub I was supposed to get. I feel that I was misinformed by BathPlanet when I signed the contract, because all the documentation I have is for the installation of an acrylic tub and I was told that there was a lifetime warranty, but never received specific documentation. American Standard informed me that the components on an fiberglass tub are under warranty for 5 years, the tub for 10 years, and the seal on the tub is lifetime. If it was an acrylic tub, the components would be under warranty for 10 years, the tub for 15, and the seal having a lifetime warranty. BathPlanet advertises a Lifetime Warranty and they have it written in on my contract, but the warranty details on the back of the contract are vague and I honestly don't know what BathPlanet has warrantied for a lifetime. We never received an owner's manual for the tub, until my conversation with Charlie at American Standard, who was nice enough to email me a copy of it. Also, I didn't find out until Wednesday, August 6th 2014 that the wrong tub was installed. Charlie shipped the parts needed to BathPlanet on Thursday, August 7th, 2 day air, to be received by Monday, August 11th. At that time he suggested to me that I should call BathPlanet back as soon as possible to get scheduled for the service call. So I call on Friday morning, August 8th to set this up, and the receptionist informs me that the sales person is on vacation and that he was the only person that could schedule the service call. We called twice the Monday, August 11th, to check with BathPlanet to confirm that the parts were there. The sales manager told us that the parts weren't there, and at 2:00 told my mom that he received all the parts for the day that he would be receiving, and that our parts were not there. He mentioned to her that he would schedule a service call with us as soon as he received the parts. I contacted Charlie at American Standard and asked him to forward me a copy of the delivery confirmation. Parts were to arrive at BathPlanet of Chicagoland by 4:30 PM Monday, August 11th. I called, again, on Tuesday, August 12, at 12:00 PM to check to make sure the parts had arrived. The sales manager gets on the phone and tells me the parts aren't there. He wasn't even going to bother to check until I told him that American Standard forwarded me the delivery confirmation stating that the parts would be there by 4:30 PM on Monday, August 11th. The sales manager then reluctantly said, "I can take a look in the back and see if they are here." Ya think? So he unwillingly gets off the phone and goes to check and see if the parts are there, and low and behold, he has them. So I proceed to ask him to get us scheduled for the repairs, then he tells me that the owner, Dimitris Nacopoulos is the one that schedules all of the service calls, and he wasn't in. He then tells me that Dimitris mentioned to him that they probably wouldn't be able to get anybody out until next week because none of his installers are available until then. Since the sales manager obviously couldn't help me or didn't want to help me, he asked if I would like Dimitris' voicemail and I said something along the lines of I guess I have no choice. So instead of being transferred to Dimitris' voicemail, I get a busy signal and have no choice but to hang up. I called back immediately and briefly explained the situation to the person who answered the phone, and left a detailed message, stressing my concerns, for Dimitris to get back to me as soon as possible. He gets back to us and tells us it's going to be about a week. Finally, their installer comes 3 weeks later, they failed to inform him that he was replacing the the drain/overflow assembly for a walk in tub. He thought he was coming to repair the drain for a shower surround. So they sent him without the parts from a location almost 80 miles away from us. So, he is forced to come the next day to finish the job. My mother was very upset at this point and the installer (an outside contractor) got the brunt of it. He didn't deserve it but we were fed up. So not only do they treat their customers like crap, they treat their contractors like crap. If BathPlanet of Chicagoland has a lifetime warranty, they should honor it. I feel like we were ingnored because we already paid for the the tub, and since this was a repair, and they have a lifetime warranty, they don't want to bother sending people out for the repairs. We have 1 bathroom and went 18 days without a tub, that my mom needed. I should also be entitled to BathPlanet covering any component costs for the bathtub, and the tub itself for an additional 5 years after American Standard's warranty has expired, because I paid for an acrylic tub with a 10 year warranty on components, and a 15 year warranty on the tub, but received a fiberglass tub instead with only a 5 year warranty on components & 10 year warranty on the tub. Again, I was not aware of this until my contact with American Standard and after receiving a copy of the Owner's Manual from them, that specifically talks about the warranty.
Description of Work: A walk-in tub was installed in October of of 2013 and had a repair done 8 months later in August of 2014.

I am totally disappointed/disgusted with this company. They did not show up for the original consultation they set up with us because they do not meet with potential clients if they are unable to confirm their appointment when their automatic messaging system calls a given phone number and automatically disconnects (with no message left) if the phone is not answered by a human being. The installation took 5 hours and the glass doors were put on backwards. We were not able to use the shower for 24 hours to allow for the caulk to dry. When we used the shower there was water on the outside of the shower doors. Water leak somewhere. We called to report and they came back 9 days later to put more caulk down and fix shower doors. We allowed another 24 hours for caulk to dry, still more water leaking out of shower. I have made calls and sent e-mails to this company telling them of my dissatisfaction with their workmanship and today they are sending another person to my home to fix the problem. I am very upset because the original date of shower installation was 10/16/14 and in a matter of 12 days a company that markets itself as " 1 day installation" has turned into (after i assume more caulk today) a loss of 6 days usage of my shower. It would help immensely if the company would take responsibility for their errors instead of trying to blame the customer for their faulty workmanship.
Description of Work: The company installed a new acrylic shower surround in my bathroom. They removed my old shower and replaced glass shower doors with new ones.

This rating and review applies to Bath Room Crafters Inc of Streamwood IL dba Bath Planet of Chicagoland as an exclusive dealer for BCI Acrylic Bath Systems Inc. The review rating does not apply to BCI Acrylic Bath Systems which has an excellent product and enjoys an A rating on Angies List. Bath Planet of Chicagoland is not an accredited ANGIES LIST provider ffThe process went as follows: 1. I Visited the Bath Planet of Chicago web site and noticed the Angies List, BBB and Good Housekeeping seals as well as excellent testimonials and representations of excellent customer service and invited them to send their Sales Consultant . 2. Jim Garaffa carrying a Bath Planet Business Card with title of Consultant inspected the project site and made a presentation of the Acrylic Bath Liners on his lap top computer and discussed the other work to be done as part of the remodeling. He did not inform us that the work would be done by Bath Crafters or that Bath Crafters would use a sledgehammer to remove tile from the walls of the bathroom. Had he done so I would not have accepted his contract. The actual contract was single page which checklisted the Bath Liner and Wall Surround items but had space of only 4 lines to describe the scope of the rest of the work. There was were the words "no additional work to be performed other than the work stated above".at the bottom of the four lines Garaffa's Bath Liner presentation was clear and excellent but he mumbled through the details of the remodeling work so I asked questions and took contemporaneous notes while he wrote out the scope on three of the four lines of the contract in an illegible handwriting. I signed the contract and informed Garaffa that I was making contemporaneous notes and wuuld hold him responsible for the verbal representations. Garaffa subsequently told me that he had conveyed these verbal representations in the form of a "work order" submitted to his boss Kevin Gustafson whom Garaffa described as the Production Manager. Jim Garaffa of the remodeling industry and operated his own business before starting work as a Sales Consultant for Bath Planet of Chicagoland. He impressed me as a very knowledgeable person and I trusted his verbal representations 3. At signing of the Contract I paid a deposit of $3915 by my Chase Credit Card which I assumed was being paid to Bath Planet.. It surprised me when I received notification from my bank that a credit card charge was being made by Bath Crafters. 4. Nobody from Bath Crafters visited the project site before start of the work on August 26 and they were relying entirely on the three lines of Garaffa's notes in the contract and presumably the "work order" which I have never seen and apparently the Production Manager had never read. 5. When the Production Manager Gustafson showed up on the morning August 26 to I went over my notes from the representations made by Garaffa, he disputed some of the work to be done and I asked him to call Garaffa on his cell phone and obtain confirmation about issues which differed from his reading of the Contract. Garaffa confirmed my notes on the scope of the project and Gustafson agreed to proceed on this basis. 5. The sole craftsman/technician assigned to start the work 31 year old Mike Reyes was shocked and angered when he arrived to start work because no one at Bath Crafters where he is employed told him about the scope of the work. So he came without appropriate clothing, safety goggles and mask and industrial vacuum to start removing the tiles from the wall by using of a sledge hammer which was Bath Crafters usual practice. Mike Reyes worked uninterruptedly for 8 hours without any help and completed the tile removal. This procedure resulted in collateral damage to the wall of an adjoining bedroom and to the plumbing of an adjoining powder room in my house. On its web site Bath Craters makes representations that the crew assigned to a project are "employees". In fact they arel actually "independent subcontractors" operating under but with minimum support from Bath Crafter owner or the managers and the home office. I noticed that Bath Crafters Inc violated several OSHA regulations and when I mentioned it to the Production Manager he did not seem to be concerned. Mike Reyes was the person who was assigned to perform all the various trade functions including the installatin of the wall boards and the Acrylic Bath Systems and the work schedule demanded by his bosses forced him to install the Acrylic Liner installation even as the environment was full of dust. Mke Reyes made no effor to isolate the rest of my home from fine construction dust. 6. A taper Jose assigned by Bath Room Crafters to plaster and sand the wall boards did the plastering but did not show up the next day for the sanding because he had been assigned to another project. In any case Jose was careless in leaving plaster tracks all over our house which was cleaned by Gustafson the next day Bath crafters then asked my painter to undertake the plastering and sanding and preparation of the surface which had been left undone by Jose. This was done over the Sunday and Labor Day. The actual priming and painting was my responsibiity under the contract but the surface preparation was Bath Planets/Bath Room Crafters under the agreement. 7. Mike Reyes is a dedicated craftsman who takes pride in his work as does the painter I hired. Reyes did a good job with the installation of the Acrylic Lining System but his work on the other remodeling tasks were interrupted by constant demands from the home office to hurry up. Bathroom Crafters represents on their web site that the crew they use are "employees" when for practical purposes their crew are "independent sub contractors " each one operating without communication with the other. 8. Several of the items on the scope of the work such as the electrical wiring for the switches were left incomplete because Bath Rook Crafters did not have an electrician available 9. Bath Planet has offered off sets in the final price to cover repairs to the damaged bedroom, incomplete electrical work etc 10. When the job was finally completed I notified Kevin Gustafson that I would not authorize final payment until they had removed debris from my garage and bath room which they promised to do the next day. I asked Kevin Gustafson to send me an invoice by e-mail with the final price after adjustments for work not performed and damages and that I would authorize payments after I had signed a release following their clean up of debris from my garage. I also informed him that my painter who perfomed extra services for Bath Room Crafters would have to be paid at time of final settlement. Kevin agreed with this arrangement Later when Kevin returned to his home office he called to let me know that under orders from his boss Dimitris they could not wait for the next day to receive final payment and they were proceeding to charge my Chase Credit card for the amount listed in their invoiced e-mail without waiting for a signed release from me. I informed him that he was not authorized to make charges on the credit card on file from the down payment but he proceeded to charge my Chase Card without my authorization In effect Bath Room Crafters business practice is to use the customer's Credit Card on File to make charges at will without waiting for a final release from the custome 11 On Sept 4 Kevin Gustafson arrived with a truck to remove the debris from my garage but by this time he had already prematurely charged my Chase Credit Card on the previous day for the final payment To summarize: I believe BCI Acrylic have an excellent product which deserves Angies List rating but their dealership model bwhere they allow dealers to use the Bath Planet trade name and Angie List rating requires more careful oversight and monitoring by BCA Arcylic of the dealers construction management practices and The above sequence of events and observations has been memorialized in several e-mails I have sent to the Senior Management and CEO and Co-Owner of BCI Acrylic Bath Systems and Bathroom Crafters Inc who informed me that Bath Room Crafters were their exclusive dealers for their products in the Chicago Land area and that their products could not be purchased directly without going through the dealership

Somewhat high pressured sales presentation that resulted in what seemed like a high cost. The $5,150 was supposedly with a $1,000 discount. This was still higher that other providers. They did claim that they offered a superior product but I could not verify from other reviews that their product holds up any better than other services. Salesman also inflated their BBB rating and Angie List rating compared to what I was able to find on my own.

Just finished an in home consultation with this company. I am looking to have a bathtub removed and replaced and want to look into various options and get multiple estimates for this project to keep costs down as much as possible. The salesman was all about high pressure tactics. Wanted to know why I am getting multiple estimates. Bad sign right there. He claimed this company is number 2 on Angie's List but yet I am adding this company just to write this review on it. Bad sign number 2. He lied. So beware of this company and do your due diligence. I am glad I did

The sales rep was an hour late. We did get a call advising us of this and agreed to still meet that night. We listened to the salesman's presentation. We measured the bathroom and selected the materials we would use so that a price could be calculated for us by the salesman. The price was far higher than price ranges described to us at the home show. We advised the salesman that we were meeting with other companies that week so we could get multiple quotes for the job. Upon that, "special deals" started to appear that lowered the price a few hundred dollars. We were advised that this was a "one time" price. To hold it, we would have to write a check. The contract stated we had til Friday evening at midnight to cancel, and the deposit check would be returned. We did meet with other contractors. We decided to contract with one of the other companies. I called the Bath Planet salesman before noon on Friday and advised him of our decision. On Saturday, I got a call from his sales manager, Dmitri, asking me to reconsider. I declined and advised him we were proceeding with another company. On Monday, the deposit check cleared the bank account. Bath Planet cashed the deposit check, even though we had advised them we were not proceeding with them. I called the salesman that morning. He said he would call the office, it should not have happened, and he would call me right back. I never got a call back. I called the office late that afternoon and was connected to Dmitri. He advised they would "confirm" the check was cashed, and send a refund. The attitude was condescending. We have yet to receive the refund of the deposit.
Description of Work: We met Bath Planet at a home show. We are looking to replace a bathtub in our parents town home with a step in shower that includes a seat and grab bars.
