Poorly! Only if you are familiar with construction, not hesitant about going up on your roof, wish to perform your own Quality Control work and don't mind an oversize pallet with left over materials sitting in your driveway for 6 weeks after the work was completed would I recommend this company. Note, Naperville Exterior uses sub-contractors. Their employee, a very part time, on-site representative was Corey, the "Project Manager" for the job, per his business card. Roof: Biggest issue: ridge caps - industry practice to shave costs is to cut and use 3 tab shingles as ridge caps instead of matching OEM hi-def caps. Ok, but the new roof was Hickory in color and the delivered 3 tabs were Brownstone. I this brought to Corey's attention. He removed a shingle from each bundle and swore they matched (right..!). After installation, I took Corey up on the roof, looked at the caps installed next to the shingles and said "Do they match?". NO! Resolution: They tore off the just installed ridge caps and installed the proper matching ridge caps cut from 3 tab shingles. Corey then blamed it on an ABC Supply Co. mistake. The sub's response, "We just use what we are given." Gutters: Contract stated that ALL existing gutters and downspouts were to be replaced and one gutter added to the shed. Corey requested written instructions as one downspout from the upper level required relocation (from back yard to side yard), 3 downspouts required an angle cut and gap to match the existing leaf diverter system (same angle cut and gap as on the old downspouts) and the shed downspout was to be located on the north end to match yard drainage. Biggest blunder: An ~20 foot section of gutter on the upper roof over a lower roof was missing! I questioned Corey if he expected the upper roof runoff to flow onto the lower roof. He asked the gutter sub who was standing there why didn't he replace that gutter. The response from the sub, "Because you told me to leave it off. We only do what we are told." Get your stories straight, especially in front of the customer. Honest sub. Resolution: The 20' section of missing gutter was installed. Upper level downspout relocation was done properly. Ta-Da! Three angle cut downspouts had no gap and were tight against the leaf diverters. Resolution: recut downspouts to provide proper gap. This was in the written instructions along with a drawing of the requirement. Shed downspout installed on the south end not on the north end as written and shown to Corey, Resolution: I came up with a solution using an additional elbow and length of downspout to head water in the best direction avoiding a new gutter tearoff and proper re-installation. Why put it in writing at the contractor's request if installation issues are ignored? Ps. Give the gutter sub a level and plumb line so the downspouts come down straight, not at a slightly cockeyed angle. Siding: The one bright spot! This sub's crew knew what they were doing. Quality work! Only two minor issues. If Corey was coordinating the subs, why were new downspouts installed over the old siding necessitating the siding crew to remove and then reinstall? Believe in six screws out, then six screws back in, will replace the missing downspout screws myself. Two temporary facia diverter panels were installed in white aluminum by the roofing sub and were to be replaced by the siding crew in brown. Both Corey and the siding crew were reminded of this. They were replaced, but in almond. Shame on me for not being at home. The job finished on Sat., July 17th. I went out of town two days prior on Thurs., July 15th but left a check for $10,500 for Naperville Exterior with my wife with a request to her that she give Naperville the check and schedule a final walk thru the following week upon my return. This would leave a balance of $206.15. The check sat in the living room for 6+ weeks. Guess no one from Naperville was around for the completion. After 6 weeks I placed the remaining materials in my garage and broke down & cut up the pallet and put it in the trash so we could have our full driveway back. No one ever called or followed up from Naperville until August 31 asking when would I pay the outstanding balance. Then, they got an earfull. What a way to run a company! The following day on Sept 1st they picked up the remaining materials, check & apologized. For my trouble, they waived the remaining $206 balance and at my request, provided two tubes of caulk (almond & brown) so I could finish the missed spots.
