The owner called and demanded to know who we were to "threaten" his staff, and began swearing, so we hung up. Then, the owner emailed, again threatening and swearing, so my husband called him. The owner wanted to know why he should go to some "*!!!** infested neighborhood" to take care of our ##@@ S___t pool. He again threatened to get his lawyer involved. What an unbelievable experience from a completely rude and unprofessional owner. We will tell ALL of our friends. And yes, Mike, we WILL use social media to tell the truth. That's what Angies List is for. We have never given a grade of F before, but no one deserves it more than you.
Description of Work: We used this company last fall to close our pool and they did a good job. We thought we would be repeat customers twice a year. So we made an appointment a month ago to have them open the pool and the date was set for tomorrow, June 5, 2013. We got a call this morning from them saying that they would not be out because they did not service the area we live in. We told them that they had serviced our pool last fall, and were again told several times that they did not service our area. We asked if they would contact the owner of the company to check. The person did so, and called back saying that they would do it for an extra $200. We told them that we were going to grade them on Angies List and other social media and hung up.

Great!
Description of Work: We recently bought a new house with an above ground 18ft pool. The liner needed replacing and after looking on Angie's List we decided on All Pool Pro's (main company). They were fast and efficient with talking about what they had and when they could do it. With summer just around the corner we wanted it done quickly and within a few hours it was installed, sand smoothed out and pool getting filled. Would recommend and use again!

Get Wet Pools is now All Pro Pools in Lockport. They came out to start my heater on 5/11 and told me it wouldn't start, trouble-shot, it was dead - even though it worked fine last year. They could sell me a new one for $1,100 or one that was only used once for $780. They came out the next day, installed this beat-up old heater, but it worked, so I paid them. By Memorial Day, both pipes connecting to the heater were gushing water. I video-ed this and brought it into their store. Mike said someone must have stepped on the pipe and denied responsibility and refused service - told me that I lacked common sense. I had to pay for a plumber to come and fix the pipes. The plumber warned me that the fixture that holds the limit switch is also leaking from the bolts. Now this is leaking about 2 gallons of water an hour if I'm running the filter causing erosion in my yard around the heater and filter. I've contacted the Better Business Bureau and All Pro Pools has still not returned my calls or come out to either repair or replace this heater which is less than one month old.
Description of Work: Installed a pool heater.

Last year I couldn't get my water clear and The Great Escape kept telling me to backwash my filter more often (I had an old earth filter). I was running the filter so much, it seemed to be overheating and I was having trouble with the cord becoming frayed which was somewhat dug under-ground. The result was I had burned out my filter the way that I was running it, so I needed a new filter and optimally the electric needed to be run correctly or I'd wind up having problems with the new pump too. They came out, handled everything, came back to make sure that I knew how to operate the new filter and told me that when I was ready to fire up the heater they would come back and get that started for me too. They also told me that they'll test the water anytime it doesn't seem right so I don't have to guess how to balance it. It's a family run business and its good to be familiar with the people you're relying on to keep your pool running clean. I don't even need to be home when they come out, they just get it done without me having to be inconvenienced sitting around waiting for them to show up.
Description of Work: I had an electric line dug into the ground which went from my filter to the circuit box in the basement, some of which had to be dug by hand to avoid other utilities. So now the outlet is next to the filter as opposed to the cord which was running underground previously. They installed a new filter/pump along with new fittings for the heater. They drained the cover, removed the cover, and added start-up chemicals.

Mike scheduled us in quickly. He arrived with his crew of knowledgeable workers. He personally oversaw and was present for the job start to finish. I never needed to bring anyone in to do any part of this complex multifaceted job. (One stop shopping.) He was wonderful to work with throughout all phases. I can't speak highly enough about his ability to solve extreme pool problems that no one else could. Many companies tried repairs that cost 5k+ over the last 10 years but they were band aids. In retrospect they to knew they were band aid repairs and we all knew immediately that the repairs didnt work. I now know that my pool is everthing it should have been when we first installed the pool. The real proof to me arrives every spring. I just opened our pool and was amazed that it opened so crystal clean. I think we had 15 or 20 leaves in it this year and if the water wasnt 45 degrees we could swim by this afternoon. He says all his pools open this clean because of the way he closes the pools in the fall. I also think the salt water system is wonderful. We swam in it last fall for 2 months before closing and it was not salty to taste because of the intelligent metering system Mike installed. I don't have one wrinkle and the permanent repair he made to the 10 inch diameter hole in the deep end looks as solid as it did the day he filled it. He opened my pool in no time flat and every piece of equipment fired up with nothing leaking. I am so happy I don't have 2 weeks of chemical balancing and waiting on heaters or pumps to work the right way. That says alot about his careful pool closing in the fall. So many companies really try to take advantage with pool opening and closing costs. Mike does not do that and his open close pricing is very fair. Along with the big job he did for us last fall was a promise to open our pool this year free of charge. He is a man of his word. If you've got a pool problem go no further. Even if you just want an open, close or repair. They can do any job you have with no headaches.
Description of Work: We have a beautiful 24 X 48 in ground pool in a low lying area that would on occasion float the vinyl liner from underground water causing severe wrinkling. There was also an eruption in the deep end with a 10 inch diameter underground hole that was covered over by the liner but looked bad. I want you know that I talked to over 1 pool companies, engineers, water table specialists, around the company to help us find permanent solutions to this problem. NO one was able to make this repair. I don't give up easily. I found Mike's number and gave him a call even though he was located an hour away. He now does all of our pool maintenance in a timely manner so no matter where you live in the surrounding Chicago area Mike will service your pool repairs and products. He was extremely confident that he could fix this problem. This is a list of the work he did for us. The pool was emptied and the liner taken away, he installed a sump pump under our pool, installed drainage of groundwater away from the pool and house, repaired all surfaces of the pool, re ran all my gutters by trenching over 600 feet, installed a new pump, rebuilt a heater, trenched 20 feet to our pump equipment and repaired a broken skimmer line, fixed all concreted and bricked patio area removed for project, replaced (not to code) cheap parts that the first installer used, installed a salt water system relieving us of the exorbitant chemical costs for a pool of this size and installed a new liner.
