Description of Work: Pete and his team repaired our cedar picket fence. The fence was only 4 years old, but the paint was chipping and peeling off, and may of the boards had rotted. We had obtained bids from fence companies to replace it, but I saw Pete's truck working on another fence in town and decided to give him a call. Pete and team power washed our fence to remove what was left of the peeling paint. They replaced about a dozen rotted boards, allowed the fence to thoroughly dry out over about two weeks, and then came back to apply 2 coats of custom colored stain. Their attention to detail and quality was incredible! They used large boards on each side of the fence while power washing, to protect the landscaping. They wrapped our trees in plastic while painting so paint would not get on the branches. They even used vacuum cleaners to clean up all of the paint chips and debris from the power washing!!! Most of the fence was then stained by hand, using sprayers selectively for some of the larger sections. We saved thousands of dollars by having our fence repaired and then stained the right way, as opposed to replacing it with a brand new fence. We could not be happier with the investment we made to do this, as our fence will now last a long time and just need maintenance from time to time. Pete and his team are extremely professional, friendly, and reliable. It is very hard to find a company to repair a fence, as the fence companies are not interested in small repair jobs. Also, painters don't always know what they are doing when painting a fence, so if the prep is not done right and the right products are not used, you get what happened to our fence- peeling and chipping away of paint that leads to the boards rotting out. Pete is very detailed and focused on the prep and importance of it, and it's this level of quality detail that sets him apart from others working on fences.

Description of Work: I had a 13 year old Cedar Rustic fence that was leaning and in overall poor condition. (By the way, I would never use Cedar Rustic for fence installations because they do very poor work.) I was ready to have a new fence installed but gave Fence Doctors a call. Pete came out to give me an estimate for several repairs. He encouraged me to keep the fence and said it should last another 20 years if it was fixed. The proposed repairs included fixing leaning posts and posts that had become extruded by ice and water, leaning and uneven sections of fence, replacing broken slats, replacing all hinges, and re-leveling the entire fence. He had a price for each item and it totalled about $1200 which was about 10% the cost of a new fence. I believe he had a minimum of $300 for any job. 3 or 4 workers came out on the scheduled day to do all the repairs and they did a great job. Each post that was leaning was "pounded" back into the ground and straightened and rocks and cement was placed on one side of the base of the posts to stabilize them. Sections of fence were removed and reattached. All the hinges and latches were replaced and approximately 10 slats were replaced. Finally, they leveled out the entire fence. It took several hours and I was very pleased with the result.
