Description of Work: After loosing the use of my arms I was looking for a service such as the Screen Doctor. The carpet installers destroyed a screen in my second floor window and I am interested in replacing two patio screen doors in the home I just purchased. Having listed that they provide on site fabrication and replacement of screens and screen doors drew my interest. The response I got was "I would be happy to estimate the job." To "I decline the job. I don't have a door that size". After reading the Screen doctor website,they offered services I needed. I did not expect such a weak response. Feels like false advertising to me. In addition,I received no response after initial contact on 4-9-14. Tried again on 4-11-14 early am(5:30) and got a "I decline the job"at 3:30pm. Did I not fit the schedule or not big enough of a job??? Could have been a money maker for the company. Completely disappointed.

 + -1 moreMike got back in touch with me within 24 hours of my inquiry. We set up an appointment for my day off (a friday). He asked me for measurements and I'm not good at knowing exactly where & what to measure. So I took pictures of the measurements so he could see for himself. I had a screen door that needed repair where the screen rolled up into the door. He told me he wasn't able to repair that type & I had to order it from a store such as Home Depot. He arrived on time and sized up the job. I have 3 cats and a young Niece & nephew who visit often, so I wanted the pet safety screens installed. It was raining and he asked if he could set up shop in my garage which was fine. He was done within 2 hours. He was nice and personable. The only thing I would say was I was not provided with an estimated cost of the job or shown the materials used. But I would definatly use him again & recommend him to anybody in the future!

He was also able to replace wood that had rotted so that the screen could be properly repaired. Overall great experience and would not hesitate to use again.

 + -1 moreMike may have been busy, but I had to contact him a couple of times to follow up on getting an estimate and finding out when he would install the screens. He was cordial when he did call back and delivered as promised. The work he did was of high quality. Measuring custom frames and installing them in an existing frame is difficult but all the screen frames fit like a glove. Wasn't thrilled that there was a lot of dust to pick up afterward as I would expect a broom clean look after a job. Overall, the screens look fantastic, the price was more than fair, and if I had another job like this I would call Mike.

He ordered, purchased. and installed the new door ten days later, just as he predicted. As it was a fine fall day we chatted as he worked. I asked a number of questions, all of which he answered. It was a very pleasant experience.

I called after about a week and they scheduled an appointment to fix the screen and completed the work promptly and professionally.

 + -1 moreUpdate 10/21: The recent work done was handled professionally and quickly. I did not inquire with any other companies to compare price, but feel that the price I paid was acceptable. I would recommend The Screen Doctor to anyone inquiring, but would caution about a possible communication issue. Posted 9/30: I submitted a request for a quote online through his website. He replied with an email. I replied back with an email requesting that he call me so I could set up a time for him to come out. Never got a return phone call. I called again several weeks later. Never got a return phone call. Three months later, I called again, thinking that maybe he just never received my email or voicemail, and left a message for him to call me. Never received a phone call back. That is the poorest professional experience I can imagine.
Description of Work: Update 10/21: After posting this review on 9/30, I recieved an email from Mike, the owner I believe, apologizing for never returning my call. He claimed that he had struggled during the March 2012 time period with hired help and that was the reason he never called. I still am not satisfied with the neglect to my initial contact. However, in the 10/1 email, he offered to come that week and do the repair work to the screens. He did show up at the designated time/date. He refabricated two screens and rescreened two more. He performed the work offsite, returning two weeks later and installing all four screens in less that 15 minutes. Posted 9/30: Don't expect to be serviced.

I had been trying to a couple of years to find a company that would send someone out to our house to replace our sliding screen door on our back patio. All the other companies told me we had to bring the screen door to them (which we couldn't do because we were not able to get take it down). The Screen Doctor was the only one who makes "house call." and it saved us a lot of time and aggravation. Mike came and replaced the screen and it looks great. From the initial phone call to the "house call," Mike was friendly, professional, efficient and knowledgeable. He brought samples to show us of the types of screen grades (standard vs pet grade, for example) and we were able to see how the screen thickness looked in our room and the amount of light coming in. Mike arrived early and was done in no time. I would highly recommend The Screen Doctor and I plan to use him in the future!

Description of Work: Mike "The Screen Doctor" came to our house yesterday and re-screened 18 window screens and 3 doors. We are 110% satisfied with his services. He made the entire process incredibly simple for us. He came right to our house and completed the work on site. Mike was extremely personable and was a pleasure to have around the house. He arrived at a time when the baby was screaming and the dogs were barking like crazy but handled all that stress perfectly and calmly got started right away on the project. He completed the entire job in a very timely manner, cleaned up all materials, and even put all the screens back on the windows. Compared to hauling all the screens to the local hardware store, waiting a week, hauling them back, and then finding the time to re-install all the screens myself --- this approach using Mike was obviously a breeze and much more convenient and simple. You might think this convenience would come with a premium and the cost would be much higher. It was NOT. I took the same job specs up to the local Ace Hardware store to get a price quote and their fees were actually 25-35% higher than Mikes! So you can have a much simpler process at a significantly lower price --- the best of both worlds!!
