Description of Work: Dayne and his team was fantastic!!! Dayne assisted in selecting new cabinets, vanities, backsplash, and color of paint. He was checking everyday on the progress of work and resolving any problems that arose. Most of the problems had to do with me not understanding the construction process. Dayne called me in the evenings or weekends to explained what was happening. He walked me through every step. I strongly recommend this team and cannot say enough about their quality and professionalism. By the way, I am a perfectionist and Dayne met my expectations!

I purchased this service through one of the Angie's coupon deals. Mr. Barkus arrived on time, was very polite, professional, answered all questions I had and did a GREAT job on the areas of drywall that needed repair. I especially appreciated the fact that Mr. Barkus traveled from Bolingbrook to the south side of Chicago in order to do this job. I also liked the fact that communication with him was primarily through email and that he responded to each email in a timely fashion. I would defintiely recommend him!

Old: After emailing several times, he said he does not service my area . . not all of the Cook County service area. Wayne took the time to personally call me and explain the nature of the service area problem that occurred and I inderstand the problem/misunderstanding. He has, nonetheless, agreed to stop over at an agreed time (7/12) when he is in the area to re-evaluate and assess my service repair job. Possibly more to come. New: (as of 07/12/2011): Wayne just left and I cannot praise the professionalism and expertise of this young man. He went into the kitchen ceiling where the large crack was and quickly noted a structural difficulty .. the framing structure for the plaster was hanging loose from the boards of the ceiling that resulted in the plaster/repairs I had made coming loose. Wayne proceeded to secure the "hanging plaster" to the ceiling boards (2x4's ??) . . added more structural support and then plastered over his structural repairs. I'm not sure I described what was done accurately, but do know for the first time since I've moved into my house (Chicago Bungalow) in 1996, that part of the kitchen ceiling is no longet "bowed". And he adhered to the original price agreement though I offered to pay more. I cannot say enough about how pleased I am with Wayne (Respect Painting) and intend to use him again and refer him to my family and friends.
Description of Work: I bought a big deal for him through Angie's List for $99 for 4 hours of plaster repair. We had emailed a few times and I even sent him some pictures of the crack I needed fixed. There was a misunderstanding about the service area and Wayne Barkus called me to explain the circumstances. I was a little out of his normal service area. Nontheless, he made an appointment to come over to see and possibly repair the crack in my kitchen ceiling. The crack in my kitcchen ceiling was extensive and though I had patched it myself a couple of times, the crack reappeared/

Where do I even start? How about - the man is outstanding in many many areas. Hire him, you won't regret it!I purchased the email coupon ($99) from Angie's List for four hours of "Drywall/Plaster Repair" and explained my situation to Wayne (owner of Respect Paining) via email. Within an hour I had a response. However, the response was not to my liking. He offered to get the job done by the end of the FOLLOWING week. Well, I had a project with a deadline. A lot of work left to be done after the drywall/plaster repair was completed. I could not afford to wait for someone for a week and a half. How dare anyone not immediately walk into my house and finish the mess that I was in the middle of. OK, all kidding aside, the time estimate was more than fair on "Respect Painting's" part. But I really did not have the time to wait. I apologized for even having the nerve to hope he could make it any sooner (again via eMail.) I was pretty well resigned to waiting to use the coupon for another project over the next year. I have no clue what scheduling magic Wayne pulled out of his hat, but he was at my house three days later (6/30/11), bright and early at 8:00am. (even 5. min early.) I was thrilled. Up to now I had not spoken to Wayne. All communication were via email and FAST!! For me that is a big plus. The current project is to remodel an unused bedroom that was in sad shape into a nursery/guest room for our soon to arrive granddaughter. The room had been wallpapered twice in the past and I wanted to go back to painting the walls. I had NO CLUE what a huge mess I was letting myself in for. After it was all said and done, there was considerable damage to the walls not only from the wallpaper stripping, but it also exposed old stress cracks in the plaster (walls and ceiling.) Not to mention the mess left when we yanked out old baseboard radiators. At this point - Wayne enters the picture. In general, to quote Wayne, it was "a beast." Three hours and 45 min later the beast had been tamed and I had a ready to paint room. Within that short period of time, he managed to pretty well skim coat the entire room including part of the ceiling AND sand everything!! This was way beyond my expectations - especially the sanding. The man is incredible! He even offered to vacuum the room - but I had much more important subjects to discuss with him than waste his time on vacuuming. :) The extra 15 min (and quite a bit more) Wayne gave me advice of how to proceed with some of my other projects, such as finishing the doors, fixing some I had messed up and general decorating ideas for the walls. As well as a list of products that work better than others AND how to use them properly. His advice was invaluable and ever so welcomed. He also pulled double duty while working. Instead of me leaving him alone to do his work, I was in the room chatting with him and part of the time picking his brain on professional tips. Which he seemed quite happy to share. In my opinion, the $99.00 coupon didn't even begin to cover the work that was completed and the invaluable advice I received. I attempted to pay him additional money but he refused. After a few argumentative "Yes" and "No's" I thought I had him convinced. But no, by the time he left I saw the money was still laying on the table. So roll; hard working, friendly, an expert at what he does, extremely consciences, honest, exceedingly high work ethics, and good looking (I can say that I'm old enough to be his mom.) all into one and you have Wayne. You think I would recommend him? You bet ya! At the moment I am waiting for his estimate for additional work. Thanks Wayne! Karola

Respect Painting recently painted the majority of our three bedroom home. We had stress cracks and nail pops and were concerned about how they would be able to make the walls look new again. Wayne let us know that they properly repair areas and we wouldn?t see where the crack ever was?they did not disappoint! The patched areas look perfect and they also warranty the work. We had wallpaper in bathroom that was installed wrong and they assured us that they would be able to repair the walls and make it look new again. They worked hard at it and the walls looked great when they were done! Wayne recommended a faux finish in our kitchen because it?s such a high traffic area. The faux finish was called a cracked leather and it looks amazing! Respect came highly recommended by a friend of ours. Wayne told us that they were a new business and assured us of his previous experience in the business. Their references gave them a great recommendation as would we. They were clean, reasonably priced, professional, responsive and did high quality work.

My wife and I built a new construction home and were eager to have a professional painter add color to our new house. We received several quotes from local painters. What we really liked was that Wayne explained that he not only was the owner but would be at our house and doing the painting himself. The price was within our budget and we felt comfortable choosing them to paint our home. From the first day on the job Respect painting was professional and punctual. Wayne helped us pick great colors that really complimented our taste and furniture. We were amazed by the straight brush lines!!! My wife really appreciated the final clean up. They even washed our wood floors! Not only would we use Respect again we will recommend them to our friends and family.

Had a water pipe burst inside my wall, leaking water onto drywall and under baseboard. After plumber finished repairing pipe there was a 4x4 area in the drywall that needed to be removed, repaired and re-painted. I recieved several bids and Respect Painting was the only company that assured me that the wall would look like the drywall never had damage after completion. Wayne also recommended a faux finish in the bathroom that I was interested in making look modern. From start to finish Wayne from Respect Painting was very proffesional and knowledgable. The front room that had the drywall repair did in fact look new. The bathroom I had the faux finish done not only looked awesome but exceeded my expectations and I could not be happier with the results. I definately would hire them for future projects.

ABSOLUTE professional painter. Very concerned about his reputation for quality and it shows. Super dedicated to quality work for his customer. I called and talked to two of his 10 references he gave me. Both references were glowing in their praise. I now add my voice to theirs!
Description of Work: 1) Painted entire house with two coats of paint over aluminum siding that was white and chalking badly. First coat was with half paint / half Emulsabond to bond to the aluminum siding (after power washing whole house). Then second coat was pure paint. Without asking, Dayne caulked around all the windows as he found the caulk to be dry and cracked! 2) Deck was also painted. Power sanded to bare wood and applied one coat of Sikkens oil deck stain. Rained unexpectedly within four hours of application. Dayne tested wood and was concerned as moisture content too high. He consulted with experts at Sikkens Incorporated. Company said paint needed to be redone. Dayne immediately sanded off the new coat of stain. Then applied two fresh coats of stain when weather was good.

Removal of popcorn covering is messy but this firm took every precaution to move furniture into other rooms and cover all the walls. Drywall work was done very well and the skylight openings look great. The workers were very contentious.
Description of Work: Removed popcorn covering from two rooms with vaulted ceilings. Provided repair and boxed in four skylights in three rooms which required structural work as well as drywall. Painted all four ceilings they worked on.
