Description of Work: We had a minor electrical problem that ended up involving two, back-to-back bathrooms. Steve Durkiewicz, the owner of EMF Electric, fit us in his busy schedule, He discovered that wiring to the two GFI receptacles in the bathrooms had been done incorrectly and promptly fixed the problem. He asked several times if we were satisfied with his work - we said yes.

Description of Work: I had a complicated project, Steve wired 5 bedrooms from the attic, installed and wired reinforced ceiling fan outlet boxes, and wired all the switch boxes and provided the extra wiring to allow dimmer and fan control on one switch in each room, at the same time he converted the existing switches that controlled the outlets to 120 V continuous service. He then installed the ceiling fans and recessed lights in two bathrooms. All of this installation was done with out creating any additional holes or damage to the drywall. He also corrected a long standing problem with a 3 way switch in the garage and was able to add additional lighting to the garage. Also replaced several ceiling lighting fixtures. His suggestions were very help full. |All of this work was done efficiently and with a minimum of disruption to the home. he was able to offer suggestions on the work that I had not considered and the finished project was much more efficient that I had thought possible. |He worked quickly and was very pleasant and cleaned up all the mess that was generated before he finished up. I would definitely use his service again.

Description of Work: I am in the process of finishing my basement and wanted to get a quote for the electrical work from a certified electrician registered with the City of Naperville. Steve was extremely responsive and got back to me right away. I sent him my drawing to show how much work was needed. He got back to me soon after declining to work on my job as he was swamped with his current projects and my job was too big for him to accommodate in the near term. I appreciated his honesty and responsiveness. Very professional and I was pretty impressed. Haven't seen too many contractors that are so upfront about their workload and what they can accomplish in a given timeframe!

+ -1 moreGot a call-back from Steve approximately 1/2 hour after I left message and setup appointment for quote. Steve is courteous, competent, professional and very detailed oriented. Because the house is 41 years old Steve had to search out a couple of electrical stores to find the 3 switches. Made an appointment for him to come back and do the work. I also asked his opinion on some issues I wondered about. He gave me very good advice. I would definitely recommend this company and would have no hesitation about hiring them again.

+ 1 moreSteve was very thorough, competent and courteous from the quote visit through the completion of the job. During the quote process, Steve was punctual and prompt in responding to any follow-up questions that I had. He offered good suggestions when I was not sure what the best or most cost effective approach would be. Once hired, he was excellent in communicating status and timing for the work and when he would be on site. He coordinated all communication with the city inspector. His work is very neat and he thoroughly cleaned any construction areas at the end of each day. I would highly recommend Steve and would hire him in the future.
Description of Work: Replaced light fixtures and ceiling fans, added lights and outlets, replaced bathroom exhaust fans, replaced smoke detectors and did troublshooting of detector system.

+ -1 moreWe contacted EMF by phone for an appointment. Steve called and asked exactly what work needed to be done. We wanted additional outlets in the garage and basement, the ceiling light in the master bathroom shower repaired and a dimmer switch installed for the dining room. He asked what the wattage was of the 12 chandelier light bulbs in the dining room. He needed to know this because the dimmer switch we had purchased was a total of 600 watts. If all the bulbs added together equaled more than 600 watts, we would have to purchase a different dimmer switch. We lucked out because each bulb was 25 watts. He explained the hourly cost and said that he and his assistant would perform the work. The appointment was set and he and his assistant arrived at the agreed upon date and time. They were very thorough, competent and courteous. The work was completed to our satisfaction.
Description of Work: Installed a dimmer light switch in dining room, installed additional electrical outlets in the garage and basement and fixed the ceiling light in the master bathroom shower.

He provided his recommendations on the spot. After meeting with 3 other electrical contractors, we decided to go with EMF Electric. Steve was extremely professional and neat. The work that he did was impeccable. We could not have been happier with Steve and the work that he did. We would definitely hire him again, and recommend him to all of our friends.
Description of Work: EMF Electric completed the following work in our kitchen: 1) Replaced the existing six inch recessed can light above the sink with a five inch recessed can light. 2) Replaced the old fluorescent light with a new light fixture. (We supplied the light fixture) 3) Took out the existing six inch Recessed can lights and installed 2 new pendant lights above the island. (We supplied the pendant lights) 4) Installed 4 five inch recessed can lights. 5) Installed under cabinet lights (We supplied the LED under cabinet lights).

+ -1 moreThe service man rearranged his schedule to come when it was convenient with me. He answered my phone message promptly and arrived on time. He discovered that my fire alarm that would not stop beeping was defective. After he went and bought the replacements, he promptly returned and installed them. When I mentioned a plumbing problem, he called a plumber connected with his business who promply came and fixed the problem with my water softener. He only charged me with the time actually working, not the time to go and purchase the material needed. I am extremely pleased with his work and will certainly use him again and recommend him to my friends. The price was fair and the work excellent.
Description of Work: He discovered the problem with my fire alarm that would not stop beeping, bought new ones, installed them and also called a plumber with the same firm when I mentioned a faulty/noisy water softener. He also offered to change a ceiling light (no Charge) when he discovered on was out.

We decided to finish our basement and had all of the contractors necessary for our project except for our electrician. A friend of mine recommended that we contact Emf Electric. I spoke to Steve on the phone and 2 days later he came out to look at my basement. Steve is very knowledgeable. He had some really good lighting ideas that I would have never thought of on my own. I absolutely love how our basement came out. From the beginning of the project to the end of the project, Emf electric was very professional and neat. My husband and I are going to remodel our kitchen next year. We will definitely hire Emf electric for our kitchen and other electrical needs in the future.
