My asphalt driveway comprises approximately 1440 sq ft of asphalt. It is 60 feet long, 24 feet wide, in two sections. Forty-five feet from garage to sidewalk, and 15 feet from sidewalk to street. This is a typical driveway in our area. The property was developed 32 years ago. We purchased it 16 months ago. I have no idea if the current asphalt is original or not. As of July 23, 2018, the driveway contained numerous cracks, one occurred in the direct center and ran the entire 60 feet. There are other cracks several feet long scattered throughout. Also, there were two places where the asphalt was missing completely, bordering the sidewalk. I spoke with people from several driveway sealcoating companies, and I researched and learned about sealcoating asphalt, filling cracks in asphalt, and replacing portions of asphalt. You see, I thought patching asphalt would be similar to patching drywall. NOT SO IN THE LEAST. The secret to maintaining an asphalt driveway is to begin sealcoating it beginning a year or so after it is newly lain, and yearly thereafter. This prevents cracks from forming, and pieces from breaking away. Once, cracks appear, your driveway has begun that journey down the slippery slope where eventually total replacement is necessary. So, my driveway had begun that final journey. Filling cracks, replacing missing pieces, and sealcoating a driveway in the condition that mine is, would only prolong its deterioration, not halt the deterioration or rejuvinate it. Knowing all this, I still wanted the cracks filled, the missing asphalt replaced, as well as the sealcoating. Of the companies I contacted, only one offered to do more than simply spray on a seal-coating. BIGJOE'S SEALCOATING. Erick, one of the owners, came out and looked at my driveway. He said that he could fill the cracks, not all but most; and replace the missing asphalt, and sealcoat. He emphasized that he could not guarantee what is patched. He quoted a price, one that was less than expected. I gave him the go-ahead, knowing what to expect. Rain was forecast for the evening of the appointed day. The sealcoating needs to dry 48 hours. I grew concerned on that day. At around noon the crew leader phoned me saying all jobs were terminated because of the expected rain, and a new date was set, July 23, 2018, dry weather was forecast for at least five days. Three young men showed up, in their truck with a hot tank trailer in tow. I asked the crew leader exactly what he was going to do. He replied that they would first remove all grass and growth from all edges and the surface. Then they would clean the surface, blowing all dirt and debris away. Then they would fill the cracks, and replace the asphalt where I designated, finally applying the sealcoating. I watched them work. All three worked dilligently and tirelessly, performing in the order stated above. Some sealcoating companies spray on the sealcoat. BigJoe's applies the sealcoating directly. An amount is poured onto the asphalt, and a sealcoating broom is used to evenly spread the coating. I believe this direct application is far more effective than spraying. They completed the job in 30 minutes. My driveway looks great. I am very pleased. I was impressed when they rescheduled the job due to weather.

Great. I've used a half dozen or so companies over the last 25 years to seal coat our driveway and Big Joe's is among the best and least expensive!

Work was done as agreed. Very neat and professional job. I asked for the extra crack repair service (described on their website), however Adam came out to quote the job and indicated it wasn't necessary. That spoke to the firm's credibility, yes? After one rain delay (also covered on their website) they rescheduled, came on time and did the work. We're certainly pleased with the quality and fair price. I have a long driveway as my garage is set way back on our lot.

Uupon learning Angie's List recommended Big Joe's Sealcoating, I checked their website and noted the many favorable reviews. I used the estimate request on the website and several days later received telephone call saying it would cost $145.00 to fill cracks and seal coat the driveway. I believe one of the owners, Adam Rasmussen, was the estimator. He was outside my home so I went and talked to him confirming the $145.00 offer to fill cracks and seal coat. We agreed on a 7/5/16 date for the work to be done. On 7/5/16, when no one appeared by 11:30 am, I ran several errands, and at about 12:30 pm their employee arrived, talked briefly to my wife who told him we were concerned about the drying time needed on this very humid day and with severe weather predicted for the night hours - heavy rain, strong winds and possible hail. He told my wife the work could be rescheduled and, if it was his driveway, he would reschedule. I arrived home about 15 minutes later, and we discussed my concerns re: drying time and severe impending weather - 2 my gutter downspouts discharge directly unto the driveway. He also told me if it was his driveway he would reschedule but he would do the work if I wanted it done that day. The re-scheduling was a simple matter of one the business owners calling me to set up a new date. Based on what he told me, I opted for re-scheduling. He said he would ask one of the owners to call me. On 7/7/16, after not receiving a call, I called the business and believe i talked to Eric Rasmussen who told me they intentionally did not call to reschedule because I did not contact them in a timely manner to cancel and re- schedule and there would be an additional charge of $30.00 to reschedule. Since I did not receive a written estimate nor was there any discussion regarding additional costs by the owner/estimator or their employee at time of our contacts, I much surprised by this business practice.. I ended the call by politely hanging up.. I cannot recommend this business.

2-man crew cleaned driveway first then filled cracks. They followed with a nice even coat of sealer. Looks much better than previous jobs. I will use them again next year.

I call Big Joe's seal coating for an estimate. I was given a verbal estimate that was left on my cell phone by the owner of Big Joe's seal coating co his name was Adam. On 9-29-15 the price quoted was $125.00 to do seal coat the driveway. I have the taped voice mail on my cell phone. He stated that he gives a discounted price because we were on a busy street and when he ropes off the driveway and puts up his companies signs with phone number that it is free advisement for him. He states this so people don't think they are getting a cheaper product. After getting Adam's estimate I called the company on 10-2-15 to find out exactly what the job entails. I advised Adam I was waiting for other estimates but wanted to know what they would do for the $125.00. I was advised not to power wash the driveway because it would change the scope of the work. They would seal 3-4 cracks, edge, power blow and tape the driveway for this amount. Adam also advised me not to wait much longer because by the middle of the next week they would be full and no longer accept anymore jobs for the season. After deciding that same day i texted Adam on 10-2-15 that we accept his bid and to please call us. I received a text that they can schedule for 10-19-15 or they would call on Monday with the next available date. On that Saturday I received a call that they could come on 10-13-15 after advising Adam that we would not be home in order to pay him, he told us it was ok that payment could be made on line or we could mail a check. The morning of 10-13-15 came and Big Joe's seal coating showed up after 8:30am. We arrived home after 9am that morning and my brother talked to one worker and asked him how long the job would take. The response was about 1 1/2 hours. A boss/owner arrived on site to check out the job, he started to come to the front door but turned around and got back into his truck and left. Then the 2 workers proceeded to take buckets of tar to dump back on their truck and just left. The workers stopped the job and left. The job was not completed. A phone call was left on my cell but I was at work and could not retrieve it till my lunch break. My brother had already contacted the company Big Joe's and one of the owners proceeded to tell him the job was miss quoted and this is not a Bait and Switch this is not a Bait and Switch we must have gone to the wrong address when we quoted the job, we won't charge you for what was already done (maybe 10%done) you can get another company to do the job, we will loose a lot of money on the job they have a wife and 2 small children at home to feed and can't loose all that money. Then he proceed to say he would come back for $250.00 to finish the job and Big Joe's will still be loosing money. We the homeowner was left hanging with an incomplete job and expected to contact another company or pay more money to finish the driveway with Big Joe's. We offered $200.00 cash to finish the job and the representative agreed to come back and finish the job that day. After waiting all day for Big Joe's to return they finally came back after 5p. Big Joe's came back on 10-14-15 to collect their $200.00 cash. On 10-15-15 I left numerous messages and text messages to Big Joe's (the text messages were being sent back undeliverable and I don't understand why) but finally I got a call back at 5:50pm from Eric the co owner of Big Joe's. I voice my complaint about the deception in quoting $125.00 and Bait and Switch up to $250.00 and told him that everything I read on the internet about Big Joe's not being a Shyster company that they are a Shyster company and Eric's response to me was that I WAS A SHYSTER CUSTOMER because I waited 2 days in which to complain. If I had complained on 10-13-15 they would have never come back to finished the job. He was condescending, insulting and had a caviler attitude. They have small children to feed and why should they loose money? They went to the wrong address to quote the job. I asked how could that be the address is on the house. We were quote $125.00 and given a discount because we live on a busy street and that they were glad because they would get more business. Eric stated he didn't need more business they have all they needed for the year. Then Eric proceeded to say they had to doge cars to try and not be hit because of the busy street and I said what are you talking about you could have pulled into the driveway. Nothing he said made sense. He tried to give an excuse for every thing. I told him I work for a company and if we quote a job wrong or miss quote we honor our word. We had a verbal quote from Big Joe's and we accepted that quote with a written acceptance via text message. A contract is a contract and Big Joe's should honor their quote. Eric stated he told Adam that they should have never gone back to finish and that he Eric was not going to honor the quote. I told him Angie's List, The Attorney General office might think different his response to that was tell them to call me. What a COCKY AND ARROGANT BAIT AND SWITCH COMPANY. HOW CAN THEY POSSIBLE MISS QUOTE A JOB AND THEN THEIR WORKERS SHOW UP TO THE CORRECT ADDRESS TO DO THE JOB?

I would highly recommend Big Joe's. It was a professional experience all the way through. Adam was especially helpful. They canceled a couple of times because of the high possibility of rain. As much as I wanted to get it done, it was the right thing to do. It did rain that day, both times. They showed up when expected, did their job efficiently, and cleaned up before leaving. Big Joe Seal coating accidentally coated my neighbors house. This is was not so much their mistake, as the city's for numbering houses the same on adjacent roads. But they quickly acknowledged the mistake and completed my house the very next day. Great service, very professional and great work!

Shot an email off to a few highly rated Angies List Companies. Adam from Big Joe's was the first to respond. I asked a few questions and he answered all of them right away. He got me a quote a day later. Asked around and it was a reasonable quote. Answered a few more questions - then we booked him for the upcoming weekend. His crew came out when they said they would and did a great job. Within 1 week of deciding I wanted to driveway done - all finished and it looks amazing! I appreciated responding over email which made it easy for me since I'm at work all day and its hard to talk on the phone.

Called Big Joe's seal coating on a Wednesday, had a quote by the next day, was scheduled for the following Tuesday. Was simple easy and painless. Communication was great. The driveway looks fantastic and there was no mess.

Rain forced us to postpone the project not once but twice. Each time the provider called in advance to say we'd have to reschedule. I appreciated their proactive approach and their care for my driveway. When the job was done, I couldn't have been more pleased. One crew took care of the hot rubber crack repairs and they did a fantastic job. Another crew did the sealcoating a few days later and their work on my 100 foot plus driveway was amazing. They were neat and I was happy to not find sealer all over the grass, plants and garage apron. I would definitely recommend this company to anyone and will definitely use them next time around.
