Description of Work: Service call on a dishwasher. Easy to schedule, good demeanor, prompt arrival during scheduled window of time. Technician friendly and found the problem was a broken pump. Repair estimate was $210, he needed to order the appropriate part so we scheduled the repair visit for 5 days later. As he was leaving I asked his advice on replacement of the whole appliance rather than repair. He said that the machine seemed fine but was at the end of its life expectancy. I appreciated his directness and honesty but wish he had mentioned this before I asked. That's the main reason I gave a B rating instead of an A. I would certainly use him again, I just know I have to be an informed customer and ask questions to be sure the appropriate option is being pursued. We did end up getting a new appliance, so we only had the $75 service call. Only other issue I had is that we had mopped out the water from the dishwasher (it wouldn't drain, that was the whole problem) and when he left, he left the machine full of water. I had to mop it out again to avoid a mess when the new appliance was installed.

Description of Work: Contracted Art Taylor from American Benchmark to fix a 2 year old LG dryer that did not heat. Art Taylor,the owner, came and looked at the unit and came back with a part another day during the week. Charged $65, very reasonable! Needless to say, little I knew that was going to be the extent of his work! Appliance did not work and Art Taylor put back old part and gave me estimate for $386 to replace electronic control. He was to order the part and call me when he had the part on hand. After numerous calls in my part (at least 8) with no response at all from Art Taylor, I contracted ABT on 8/20/11 ( 1 month later) to repair the unit. Clint from ABT promptly repaired the dryer and the culprit was the igniter (not the electronic control) and the part was $42. Art Taylor and American Benchmark where totally unknowledgeable, unresponsive and unprofessional.

The part that was replaced on the 1st call was the ignitor. It did not solve the problem so the original was reinstalled and we continued the diagnostic process and found that there was no power from the main control to the ignitor, hence our diagnosis as you described. It is not uncommon for control boards to fucntion erratically as we believe was the case for your dryer. all the other controlling devices that help control the heating ability of the dryer were also checked , thermostats sensors etc. So changing the ignitor again is rather surprising. However we hope that the repair you claim was made will resolve your complaint. we definitely had tracking problems for your call that we sincerely apologize for and steps have been taken to correct this problem due to the tremendous call volume we have been experiencing. Description of Work: This company had come out to fix my dryer in the past, so when my oven died I called them again. The gentleman who came was the same as the previous time. He looked at the oven and said it needed a new ignition system. He quoted $365 for parts and labor, but that it was probably not worth fixing such an old oven and to put the money toward a new one. I tried to pay him for the service call, but he said not to worry about it. I really appreciated his honesty and sympathy in this economy. If anything breaks again, I will absolutly call them again.

Excellent service.

Description of Work: Art came checked the dryer and said the motor was not going to last much longer. Advise a replacement, informed me that it would take a day to get the motor before he could install it. When Art received it he came a day later put it in and checked everything and was gone in less than an hour. My dryer is working GREAT. YES, I WOULD CALL ART AGAIN. A VERY FRIENDLY PERSON answered all my questuions while installing the motor, NEVER lost his cool.
