These guys were great. No nonsense, just moving. I mean they really hustled carefully. Almost as if it was an art form. I will definitely be hiring them for my next move and would highly recommend them.

We needed our place moved on a tight schedule. We received many quotes, even though our move was rather small, the prices we were quoted were very high. USA Moving provided a very fair quote. They charged us 132/ per hour for a 4 man crew plus a one time charge for the truck and travel. These 4 guys were amazing. Jose and his crew did a wonderful job of removing everything from our 3rd story apartment in under 3 hours, way under the time we were quoted. Then proceeded to our storage unit where they loaded that up in around 10 minutes. Then at our new home offloaded and reassembled all of our furniture in around 2 hours. They even assembled a brand new crib for us that we had in our storage unit! These guys are amazing! They didn't even take a break from the time they started through the time they finished. You will not be disappointed with them! They do charge for materials such as tape and wrap that they use, but its well worth it. We didn't have anything damaged in our load. One caveat, these guys are a cash operation. They prefer money order or cash, but will accept a credit card with a 3% service fee. They have a two hour minimum so I would suggest getting a money order for truck plus the two hour minimum and then have cash for the rest.

Two trucks and team of 5 packers. Team arrived on time. worked efficiently. Professional experienced team. All items wrapped carefully, including several antique furniture pieces and large art works. Also move a heavy safe. Items were stored overnight and delivered next day due to elevator use restrictions in both buildings. Laid down protection for wood flooring in new apartment before bringing furniture in. No damage to walls or doors despite some tight corners! Rearranged furniture in new apartment. Only negative was that they charged for an additional hour that it took to bring the trucks from the storage to apartment the second day, this was not made clear ahead of time.

This company accommodated a last minute change in plans, as I have initially contracted with another moving company but had to reschedule because of delayed closings. The crew missed one member who became sick, so 3 guys (Miguel, Daniel, Juan) did the work of four in a timely and focused manner. More than that the price quoted for a crew of 4 was adjusted to reflect the change. They were very careful with all furniture, thoroughly packed pictures, mirrors, etc. and installed everything back into my new place. More than this, the following day, when I called back because I could not locate a particular box that contained items needed for cable installation, they reported back with the specific corner in the basement where I was able to find that box. Can't get better than that! All in all, this was a great experience, the best move thus far. I highly recommend USA Moving.

Quite simply the best moving experience I have ever had. The crew they sent worked tirelessly and even took it upon themselves to unpack their consolidation boxes and re-arrange furniture to our liking. They were great and after a few bad experiences, were a welcome change. That being said, I hope I never move again!

These guys are fantastic. A four man crew moved me nine miles in 3.25 hours - start to finish! To be fair - I did not have the typical furniture in the second bedroom, and I had already gotten rid of my dining room table, chairs and hutch. But, I did have an involved and cumbersome three piece corner desk that they had to dismantle and reassemble. A little info for those who don't know: As I had just installed new carpeting and the weather was a bit damp, the crew laid down protective plastic runner-type sheeting. You do pay extra for this, but not that much. My total cost for extra materials which includes the above plus tape, packing paper, extra boxes etc was only $100. They do take credit cards, but you're going to pay an extra 3% for the transaction fees. You're better off paying by cash, cashier's check, or a combination. If you pay by check and over-estimate - they send you a refund. I got mine in a week.

As moving day approached, I became more nervous about getting everything done. Jason was always quick to respond that I shouldn't worry--USA would take care of everything. I really appreciated his quick responses and his desire to calm my fears. Packing was scheduled to be done in one day. When it became clear that the job was bigger than anticipated, extra people were immediately dispatched to help with the packing. They were able to complete it all in one day. I had done a lot of packing and organizing ahead of time, which I feel helped the process along. I knew it was a complicated move--some things were going to storage, some to our apartment, some to a garage sale, and some things were staying in the home for the new home owner. I think USA did a great job of keeping everything separate. Santiago and his team could not have been nicer or more professional. Nothing I have unpacked in the apartment has been scratched or broken. I have high hopes the same will be true for the things in storage. If I had any "disappointments", I would have to say one was the estimate. Our cost ended up being about $2000 over the quote. Another would be the way the boxes were labeled--they basically said what room they were from with no idea what was in each box. The last would be that some things that were supposed to go into storage ended up at the apartment, and I'm hoping some things that were supposed to be at the apartment are in storage, and not lost. Jerry was very responsive about picking up the things from the apartment that were supposed to go into storage and moving them back there. I don't understand, though, why parts of things would be packed in one box, and other parts in another box--for instance, I have my ice tongs, but no ice bucket! Again, I know this was a very complicated move--it wasn't as if everything was just being moved from one location into another, and all in all I thought it went really well! I know 3 people who are moving soon and I told them they HAD to call USA! I'm really glad I chose them, and I look forward to an equally positive experience when we move out of our temporary living situation into our new home.
Description of Work: Jason came out to estimate the cost of packing up our belongings, moving some into storage and some to our temporary housing situation. He also estimated the cost of the storage. In addition, he estimated what the cost will be when we are ready to remove our items from storage and move everything into our new home. USA sent a team to do the packing and the moving.

They are terrific. Our move to our new house had suddenly become complicated: we needed to move out of our current place, store our furniture, then get it to our new house. Lots of moving parts. Jason from USA came over for the estimate, and immediately we felt we were in good hands. Throughout the process, Jason stayed in touch with us, gave us clear and up-to-date information, and did everything promised. Their crews are composed of terrific, kind, respectful professional ... every one of them. Our belongings arrived in great shape ... not one scratch. Their not cheap, but for a good reason. If you're facing a low-stakes move and you don't have a lot of items you really care about, you might be able to get away with a less expensive outfit. The crew showed up on time and got down to work. They had everything packed up and on the truck in 90 minutes which was pretty impressive. At the new property they were able to remove the railing on the stairs with an impact wrench which made moving the piano and china hutch a lot easier (I'd tried and failed miserably to do the same thing the evening before). All told, they were in and out in approximately three hours. There were a couple of minor scrapes on the walls, but that coudn't be helped given the confined spaces they were working in. They were defininitely a great crew and I'd use them again.

We did not like the movers we used and we found them on Angie’s list. It would probably depend on what group of people you get but we will not use them again because they broke quite a few items but it was nothing that we really, really cared about but there was a wood chunk missing out of our china cabinet. It was a good dent that took off an inch of wood on the side. We had two glass shelves that they took out of the china cabinets and those are nowhere to be found so we have to have glass made for the china cabinets. They broke two of our kitchen chairs. The owner gave us a check but we just thought they could have been a little more careful. Our experience was not good. The other thing was, the world cup was going on that summer and my husband said every time he went in to the garage where they were packing us up, all of them would be watching games and would get upset that they actually had to work. That was frustrating too because we were paying these people by the hour. They were watching it on the guy’s i-phone. I don’t think they were sitting like an hour watching it but they were taking five minute and ten minute break quite frequently and that wasn’t good. Then we had one crew that packed us up and the next day they sent us a different crew of people to unpack which I didn’t think was great because the people that and the truck knew where everything was loaded and now we are getting new people who haven’t packed up all of the house. We weren’t pleased overall but there wasn’t anything tragic. He wasn’t giving us much, he gave us about $50 and after everything was done I realized that my son’s dresser and chest were smashed too and chips of wood missing out on the sides. At the point, my husband just felt, wow this wasn’t going well and he was sick of dealing with them. They were not polite or apologetic.

First, we would like to apologize that the customer was not satisfied with the move. We want and try very hard to have every customer completely satisfied with their experience with our service. We always try to send the same crew to move as we do to pack, but in this case the next day after packing, her move was scheduled in the afternoon and her original crew was running later than expected. We contacted the customer and offered a different crew which would be available sooner. They accepted, the other crew came to move her. At the very end of the moving job, the movers called to say they were finished. They mentioned that some damage occurred to some chairs. Normally we attempt to repair an item if its broken, we offered either the repair of the items or a $50 credit on the bill. They chose the $50 credit. Again we apologize that these customers were not completely satisfied with the move.

There were a lot of positives about my experience with USA, but a few negatives that make me recommend against this otherwise highly rated mover. In a nutshell, the moving service was good but the packing and move prep service was terrible. The positives: (1) They were very easy to deal with pre-move, responsive, and showed up on time (or early) - exceedingly reliable; (2) they had enough men (5) and equipment (2 large trucks) to complete the job without any hassles; (3) they were very courteous and professional in the move itself (note my rating on professionalism relates to packing and pre-move prep issues and back office issues, NOT the moving itself - and I do not want to imply any attitude or conduct issues). The negatives: (1) USA Moving (like many movers I have used) insists on payments in cash each day (packing day 1, then moving day 2). However, they cannot provide an exact amount and my move was estimated to be bout $4,000 - 5,000 total... so there was bound to be variance. What USA moving told me to do was to get 2 cashiers checks and make them at the high end of the range. Then, USA told me that they would promptly refund the difference. So that is what I did. Now, over 3 months later, I still do not have my refund for the over payment, which was about $900. When I called USA last month, they told me they were aware of an issue that affected more than just my own refund and would get back to me ASAP. Haven't heard back from them since. Admittedly I have not been calling them all the time to complain, which I am sure would have gotten my check out more quickly .. But I shouldn't have to do that especially on a high end mover. (2) While to movers did a fantastic job of getting everything out of my apartment, they made some really bad decisions on packing and move prep that cost me as much as the move itself. First, they decided to disassemble the valves on my Viking gas grill even though I specifically told them the grill did not need to be disassembled to get through the door. Opening the valves ruined the grill (made it unsafe) and it will cost over $2,000 in parts and labor to fix as all of the valves need to be replaced. The grill could easily have been moved by lifting the grill top from the cart instead of taking apart the valves, and I told them the grill came in fully assembled. But they did not understand and/or ignored my admonition to leave the grill intact. Second, for some strange reason, the movers took out all of the clothing, files and personal items from my dresser drawers and file cabinets and repacked in boxes. This took way too much extra time and cost me weeks on unpacking. At the least, someone should have asked if I wanted to leave items in the drawers. I spent several days looking through boxes for clothes, files and personal items I needed and expected to have available since they were in drawers that should not have been emptied. Worse still, as noted below boxes were not labelled specific to the source (e.g., at least they could have said "High Dresser Drawers" on clothing boxes rather than just "Master Bedroom"). Third, boxes were not labelled correctly and//or were labelled in spanish which does not help me since I am an English only guy. Fourth,the movers did not understand basic instructions on grouping of boxes, probably because no one on the crew spoke very good english (and I could not speak spanish at all). I attempted to explain where I wanted "Utility" boxes as well as boxes from an unused room.... these both got clumped somehow into one (labelled with a Spanish name that rhymes with Utility) and as a result I had to sort through literally dozens of boxes to re-separate the utility room boxes from the storage room boxes. Fifth, there were some strange packing decisions that I would summarize as saying that most items - even rocks and books that are virtually indestructible - that was not already boxed got a good 2-3 sheets of packing paper and was wrapped individually. This is great for fragile items, but not so great for waste paper at the back end of unpacking, and terrible for trying to find things afterwards. For a 20 mile move, I don't think that level of packing is warranted and it only increases cost (time to move and materials) and complexity on unpacking. Sixth, they did not bring enough wadrobe boxes, so a rack of clothes that were hanging (including many suits) got folded and put into boxes (requiring pressing when I unpacked them). Seventh, labeling of boxes in general was average at best. Aside from the problems above, most boxes were just labelled by room. My previous movers were much better at this. In the kitchen especially, labeling for utensils, pots and pans, dishes, appliances, etc. is what I would expect from a top rated moving and packing service. In sum, I would use USA Movers again (assuming that they eventually refund my overpayment) but ONLY for the moving service. I would NOT use them for packing at all.

We are sorry to hear the customer wasn't completely satisfied with his overall experience. Oftentimes customers are due a credit and we do promptly issue checks for any overpayment. This customer was moved on June 24th and we did issue him a check a few days later for the amount due to him for overpayment. Not until a month ago did he call us mentioning that he never received the check. Our representative said she would look into it and will him call back. He left a 2nd phone number to reach him at. We researched our records and noticed that the check was sent to him a few days after we moved him. We called the customer back that same day, and left a message at both phone numbers to inform him the check had been written and mailed. We never got a call back and assumed that everything was in order. It wasn’t until now that we read the customer’s complaint that we checked our bank records to discover that the check we issued was never cashed. We were diligent from the start in attempting to issue this customer the credit he had due to him. Again, we received only 1 phone call from him saying the check wasn’t issued, we replied with 2 phone messages that same day to inform him that the check was in fact sent, and did not hear from him after that. I would like to thank this customer for recognizing the quality of the movers themselves, but do regret that he was not overall happy with his experience. We do mention to customers that when packing, we commonly label only which room the box will go to at the destination and any further labeling of the boxed items will require more specific labeling instructions. Also, although smaller sturdy dressers can safely have the clothing left inside, but heavy dressers and file cabinets do require that the contents be emptied and packed in boxes. Furthermore, I would like to clarify that we attempt to group your items together when packing. For example we try to pack each box full of a specific item such as 1 box with all books, another box with just cd’s, another with dishes, ect… However, there will always be items leftover that need to be miscellaneously filled into a box. In this case when we pack a box with mixed items such as a few fragile items packed in the same box with a couple books, then we may use packing paper by the book in order to protect other items in the box from the book itself. But, we definitely do not pack a box of books using packing paper to protect the books. We did issue a check today to the same delivery address that we sent the original check (sent a few days after his move on June 24th). Overall, we are sorry that the packing portion of your move was not executed to your expectations.

Such a flurry of activity and efficiency I've never seen. In a couple hours, the team of three had very thoroughly wrapped and packed our furniture, china, and artwork. The next morning they arrived and moved it to the new house, and placed, unwrapped, and assembled the furniture, again in a matter of a couple hours. The most impressive moment though, was when they insisted on repairing a broken leg on our china cabinet (it had broken many months earlier - but was stable while standing in place). We found a piece of wood, a saw and some screws, and next thing I knew they'd reinforced and secured the broken leg - looking at it you'd never know there had ever been an issue, and it was as sturdy as ever. Let me re-emphasize - they repaired a piece of furniture that was broken long before they ever touched it, and they were completely aware that it wasn't their fault. They just wanted to make sure it was stable when they set it up again. I obviously can't say they're going to fix everyone's stuff, but going so beyond the call of duty for a move was extremely impressive. Finally, despite the speed at which they worked they were incredibly thorough and careful - nothing was damaged in the slightest. My only criticism - and the reason for the "B" on pricing - is they scheduled our very small house move across two days. All told the job took about 5 hours, and could have been easily scheduled for a single day (and we scheduled this 6 weeks in advance). That necessitated two trips from Skokie to Naperville, which was an added expense - and hassle - we could have done without. However, the final work speaks for itself, and what's important is that everything makes the move intact - and we came out better than when we started.

Packing was done one day then the move the 2 days later due to scheduling. I was concerned that the cost for day one was higher than I expected. I was assured that the final cost would be close to estimate. The crew worked hard and non-stop. They took particular care of a large Riedel collection, other crystal, china, art and countless boxes of books, many quite old. Not one item was damaged. The items that I pointed out to the crew leader were packed particularly well. I was convinced that they would not be able to fit everything on their truck.... but they did. The crew were patient and moved into the new house efficiently, including many heavy items to a third floor attic. The final cost before tip was within 3% of the estimate. I also used USA for a much small move with the same results. I would highly recommend Jerry and crew.
Description of Work: Moving a 7 member family from a 3600 sqft house from one Chicagoland suburb 36 miles to another. The entire house packed and moved including a piano, crystal, china, some art, bicycles and large furniture. We choose USA based on reviews here. Jerry came to our house and gave us an estimate. He has clearly been doing this for a long time and is an expert. We received a quote from another highly rated company (First Class Moving and Storage) which came in ~34% (over $2000) higher. Because both companies had large numbers of positive reviews we went with USA.

Excellent service. Honest. Reliable and punctual. First step: scheduling and estimate. Reasonable rates and flexible scheduling. Moved on Sat and Sun. Full disclosure of costs for materials, trucks, crew, and additional insurance options. Two day move. Day one: packed all possessions in house including fine china and crystal. Nothing was broken or damaged. when delivered. Prepared furniture for moving - included a spinet piano, sizable computer desk and treadmill that required dis-assembly. When the crew noticed existing flaws to items of furnishings they pointed them out so that we knew they did not do it. Day two: moved and placed all furniture and clothing in designated areas. No problems. Assembled computer desk, beds, and treadmill. Crew worked diligently.

They came to estimate the cost of the move, which ended up being very accurate. The guys came on time as expected and got right to work. Although we had furniture on 4 levels, the guys were quick and careful. They arrived at the new house exactly when they said they would be there. We had just refinished the wood floors so asked them to be careful as they set furniture down, which they were. Again very careful but efficient to unload everything, took a little over 7 hours for the entire move. Nothing missing and nothing damaged. But of confusion on the method of payment at the end but the main office resolved that. Definitely would use again.
Description of Work: Local move from 4 level townhome to single family.

USA Moving arrived on time, was clean and careful. Unfortunately a VERY heavy and expensive Holly Hunt Media Cabinet was damaged in the building's elevator.. After the $258 repair you couldn't tell the there had been crush damage to a corner the repair was so good! USA Moving quickly paid the bill no questions, no hassle. It's hard to tell how good a company is when everything goes perfectly. GREAT companies shine when things go wrong. USA Moving would be my first choice if I move again.
Description of Work: I was moving from California and the building required a specific day and time for the moving company. I used USA Moving to store my things until I could schedule an exact move -in date. Jerry was fantastic! He showed me how to manage the delivery from the California moving company. He directed their well meaning but inexperienced crew and made sure my delivery to USA Moving went flawless. I was very impressed and I'm hard to impress.

The vendor was fantastic! This was my second time usining them and they were able to complete the entire job in about 5 hours. Which included working very hard to get a couch into a tight door. The team was prompt, courteous and worked the entire time without multiple breaks. I learned some time ago to provide my own tape and boxes, which I did and without concern they used what I provided. The entire move went off without any damage to my furniture, goods or properties. I would certainly use them again.
Description of Work: USA moved me from my 4 bedroom/ 3.5 bathroom condo into a single family home.

The guys showed up exactly when they said they would and started loading the truck immediately. I was very impressed with the speed and precision with which they worked. They took just as much care unloading the trucks as they did loading. They put everything where we asked them to put it and they unwrapped all furniture. They even put together our beds. Overall, I couldn't have been more pleased with how the guys at USA Moving did. The move was efficient, taking a few hours less than what I expected. They require a bank or certified check on the move date w/o knowing the true final cost. I wasn't excited about that setup since if you write the check for more than it ends up being, they send you the difference back. I figured that would take weeks, but I actually received my 'change' back within a couple of days. A+++
Description of Work: 5 man crew helped my family of four move from our 3 bedroom house in the southwest suburbs to the north side of Chicago. We had most small things in boxes when they arrived, but the guys did pack some boxes of odds and ends for us. Santiago (very nice guy) and his crew carefully wrapped all of our furniture, electronics, and mirrors. The items were packed extremely well....I can't say that enough. They moved my very old piano very carefully and did an outstanding job.

It went great! This was the third time I used them and they were able to fit me in on vary short notice. I will definitely use them again!
