Mike's Plumbing

I called Mike at 4:30 pm on a Saturday because my laundry sink was completely clogged. He and another worker came about an hour or so later. He explained everything he was doing and why, and got the job done. Very nice, very professional, very thorough, very good. BTW, the plumbing company I've used for years wanted nearly double the price just to walk in the door.

Excellent. It was late Friday afternoon. Mike came right over, checked out the situation, called his partner to buy a required part and got to work grouting out the pipe. It took 3.5 hours.

Water alarm went off about 5:30 am. Called Mike's and he came over very quickly. The sump pump had stopped working and the water was up to the top. He drained and installed new pump. We were saved from a flooded basement. He explained what he was doing each step of the way. He checked the back up pump also. Very clean, professional and courteous.

SHORT version: Mike repaired a badly leaking bathtub overflow drain. It required an alternative gasket style that I had trouble sourcing. Mike resolved the issue with professionalism and quality, and at a reasonable price. Thanks, Mike! LONG version: I originally tried replacing the gasket, and it didn't work. Mike first tried a couple different gaskets, one of which I had already attempted, and one he had on hand. Neither worked. Mike went to the hardware store and found a different gasket style that did the trick for my older style tube / overflow drain connection, and that I hadn't been able to find in the store. (Turns out this particular gasket type is only available as part of a much larger -- and in my case, unnecessary -- kit.) I may have eventually figured it out myself, but with significant aggravation and time lost. In the end, I paid a fair price for quality work and couldn't be happier. Thanks, Mike!

On two different occasions we needed Mike's timely expertise to fix a leak under the kitchen sink and again under a bathroom toilet. He did a great job and we will certainly be calling him in the future with any plumbing problems.

We were having a dinner party when the kitchen sink became clogged. I tried plunging the drain, my friend tried rodding the drain, but the clog did not surrender. I called Mike on a Sunday and he came out to do the job. I explained the problem, Mike looked at the pipes and stated that the best thing to do for the long run would be to replace them. He quoted me a price. I didn't want to spend that much money because we were going on vacation. He quoted me a price for to rod the drain and I asked him to do that for now. He did. However, the clog did not surrender to Mike's heavy duty rodder either. I ended up having Mike replace the pipes to solve the problem, but not just that. He simplified the design and re-routed the drain pipes from the kitchen sink, removing the original and unneeded turns. When he cut the big vertical pipe, there was a loose place somewhere in the line that leads to the vent and he said he had to cut into the dining room wall to reconnect it properly. I'm thinking, "Whoa! All I wanted was my drain unclogged!" But I put all my faith in Mike and he delivered. I asked him where he had to cut in the dining room wall and he pointed to a spot. He was exactly right. The problem joint was right there! In the end I have a well running drain, new pipes, and because Mike discovered it, a well connected pipe system that will work for another 70 years. Mike quoted me $1100. He was at my house for about 7 hours to complete the job. When he discovered that the job would require some additional work to repair the loose pipes behind the walls, he didn't increase the price. Mike stuck to his quote. He is honest and fair and I would hire him again.

Mike was able to come within an hour after I had tried calling 3 different plumbers who were unable to make it over. He quickly assessed the situation, understood that the sump pump was the problem, removed and installed a new sump pump, and spent considerable time attempting to determine the source of the water ingress. In addition, as a new homeowner, he explained to me what I should be looking for to determine if any problems might arise again. He offered to return if any additional problems arose related to this issue, and I would highly recommend him for emergency jobs.

Mike was there in an hour, identified the source of the leak and repaired it less than an hour. Excellent all around. Another plumber wanted "double time" for his guy and wanted to charge me $650 for the guy to show up and included a minimum of 2 hours of work. So even if the job took less than an hour (like it actually did), he wanted to charge me for 2 hours, regardless. I know how quickly these things add up, and after it was all said and done, I could have been paying closer to $1000. Glad I found Mike.

Excellent overall experience. Mike was very professional and quickly identified the problem. He opened the ejector pit (which was rusted solid due to age) and showed me the problem. He gave me a fair estimate of the price and was able to obtain a new pump and install it all within about 3.5 hours. Very clean and very thorough. Pricing seemed very fair given the time and cost of the parts. It was very nice to have the entire problem solved approx 12 hours from when I initially found water on the floor.

Fantastic! My kitchen sink clogged while cooking dinner on the Friday before Christmas. I called Mike on Saturday morning and he was at my house within 45 minutes. He was incredibly responsive, friendly and clean. He fixed my issue and suggested options for improving the situation so that it wouldn't happen again. I plan to have him come back out at a later date to do just that. I would highly recommend. Price seemed reasonable to me.

Mike was able to come by the next day on short notice and the entire process only took about 15-20 minutes. He also explained some next steps we needed done. Very responsive.

Mike could not have been more helpful. He was very knowledgeable and provided recommendations without pressuring you. The problem was an easy fix and he didn't charge me anything. I would high recommend him and he is now going to be my go to resource for all future plumbing needs.

Mike was great. He came at the time promised and evaluated the issue. He then determined he needed to snake the toilet and went to get his equipment. When he returned, the equipment was in a plastic bag so as not to mess up the floor in our house or drip sewage around our house. He took care of the plunging, keeping sure to clean up as he went along. He wore gloves and had extra equipment to ensure our toilet wasn't damaged in the process. Overall, we were extremely impressed with Mike, his attention to detail, and his skill. He treated our house like it was his own which is a big thing for us. It only took about 15 minutes from start to finish.

He stayed until 7.30 and got the job done. He quoted his price up front and was able to get some gunk and tree roots out of my sewer line.

We called Mike at 7:30 a.m. He showed up at 8:30 a.m., worked until he had cleared roots and we had good flow again. He also made some suggestions for future work, including scoping the sewer drain to see exactly how bad the roots are, and if any movement/damage to the pipes going to the curb.

Mike was available and said he could come by between 11-12, which we told him was cutting it a bit close, as the inspection was at 1. He ended up running late and wasn't able to get there until around 1 himself. We had to leave by then, and our realtor let him in and showed him to the leaky faucet. Our realtor told us he said he needed a part and that he would call us. I texted him the next day to find out what the verdict was on the faucet but received no reply. 2 days later, still with no reply, I texted him again to find out where things stood and replied by telling me that he didn't know what type of faucet it was and asking if I knew. I called him after that perplexing response, and he told me that he couldn't find the replacement cartridge since he didn't know the brand of faucet. He indicated that he didn't really have time to go hunt down the missing piece and suggested we offer the buyer some credit at closing (with our faucet leaking the whole time until then). To his credit, he did say it was a nice and expensive faucet, so he would try to avoid replacing it. It took some prodding on my part to understand that he didn't want the job unless I could find out what brand of faucet it was. I was less than impressed with Mike's punctuality, responsiveness, and ability to outline for me different options for resolving the problem. If he had realized the job was too difficult for him, I wish he had let us know that right away, but there was no follow-up until after I texted him for the second time a few days after he came to assess the problem. I also found his throw-in-the-towel approach a bit surprising and quite disappointing.

Completed the work in a professional and timely manner. The timing was especially important because we have a retail unit that requires water as part of their services and they needed to be back up and running by a specific time. I would definitely recommend Mike. I appreciated how quickly he got back to me when I originally requested a quote.

We had an emergency plumbing situation where a pipe drain in the basement had backed up and there was standing water/sewage. We made several calls to emergency plumbers and Mike got back to us quickly and was at our building in less than an hour. My husband and I were out of town, so Mike worked with one of our tenants to get access to the building. Mike assessed the situation, called us to keep us informed and charged a fair price. I would use him again in the future.

Called on a Sunday! The Sunday before CHRISTMAS! The man I spoke to said he would be out at three o'clock, and he arrived exactly then. He offered to come back the next day for a reduced price (it being Sunday and all) but we went for it. Considering the other plumbing companies I spoke with that day either could not come out at all, or quoted $1200 to come out, this was a deal. The team was fast and efficient, and got the job done.
