LOWE'S

The salesman was so helpful I wanted to give him a big hug. He told me an assortment of tricks to install the flooring properly and attain the best finished appearance, and even led me over to the tool section to pick out a special saw to undercut the areas around the door frames. He didn't really have to do any of this, he could have just taken my money and smiled a lot. But every time I look at the floor I installed myself I thank this guy all over again.

We had priced a similar hot water heater at Sears; both the unit and the installation were less expensive at Lowe's. Lowe's called the day after our purchase to schedule installation, and were flexible to meet our schedule. The two installers arrived promptly, were polite and worked quickly. They replaced a snapped-off gas shut-off valve at no cost ($35 value, they said). The installer explained the unit's safety features and warranty, how to relight the pilot and adjust the water temperature, and where to call if we had any problems after they left.

Each person who came out was missing supplies and there was very little communication between Lowe's and their subcontractors. I took off three days of work when they were supposed to show up, and they never did. All the contractors they sent out were polite, but some were sloppy. It's best not to expect the work to be done right away-- it could be two months and you'll deal with many different people. A lot of the time, Lowe's was asking me who had come out. They have a lot of trouble finding reliable subcontractors.

AS HAS GENERALLY BEEN MY EXPERIENCE AT THIS LOWE'S, THE SERVICE WAS QUICK AND VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE, AND THEY WERE A BIG HELP GETTING THE APPLIANCES INTO MY VAN. ALSO, WITH REGARD TO INSTALLATION OF THE MICROWAVE, THE PERSON HELPING US GAVE US A VERY HELPFUL HINT THAT, HAD I PROPERLY FOLLOWED IT, WOULD HAVE SAVED A LOT OF TIME. BUT ALAS, I BLEW IT. NONETHELESS, I APPRECIATED THE TIP.
