Fortune Restoration is as professional a service provider as I've come across in my 20+ years of home repair and maintenance. They completed 2 projects for us: (1) exterior stucco patching/brick tuckpointing/exterior painting and (2) full interior repainting. The attention to detail, timely updates, informed recommendations and quality of work was second to none. The highest compliment I can give is that when they were finished, there were no residual call backs. A complete job, done by courteous, professional workers. I would recommend for anyone tired of subpar service.

Fortune Restoration was amazing to work with. We needed our original 1929 wood windows repaired and painted on the outside of our home. Bernie was amazing to work with from day one. He outlined the scope of work I wanted his team to do and then came back with the areas of work I needed to focus on. His Lead, Danny, took care of us of the project until they finished. Very respectful, professional and efficient. They did exterior windows, soffits, dormers, doors and replaced any wood that was rotten. We will definitely use them again for needs in the future.

5 Stars to Fortune Restoration. They just finished painting my house and it has never looked better. My wife suggested this may be the time to sell it because it looks so beautiful. Everyone we worked with were more professional than I could ever have imagined. Bob visited here to prepare the estimate. He asked all the right questions, and pointed out a number of items I had not even considered. I quickly received the proposal which was very detailed as to the exterior work and materials. The cost was very fair and we agreed upon a start date. The crew showed up on time. The project supervisor first informed me of all the procedures and materials they would be using in accordance with EPA guidelines and the team wore hazmat suits throughout the entire project. This was very professional. The crew quickly got to work preparing all the surfaces for painting. They did a very thorough job. Next, they applied different colors and types of paints to the various surfaces. Fortune had taken paint color samples and matched the new pain exactly to the color of the metal storm windows and doors. It was perfect. Throughout the entire two-day project, they kept their workspace tidy and professional. Upon completion, the project supervisor and I walked around the entire house and viewed the entire project. It was excellent. The entire Fortune team was extremely professional, friendly, and courteous. Several neighbors have stopped by to admire the paint job and inquire about Fortune Restoration. I have strongly recommended them to everyone. Thank you, Fortune!!

Fortune Restoration just finished painting the front of my house and I could not be happier. Robert Fortune, the owner, personally came and looked at the house before, during and after the job. The team of two that painted came out the first day and prepped the house by sanding and removing old paint that was chipped or peeling. During that time, one of the workers suggested a different accent color than we had initially asked for that was going to look much better. After debating with my wife, we called Robert the night before the painting (8pm) to tell him the new color we wanted. He said it was a great idea and ordered the paint that night and the workers showed up with the right color early the next morning. Overall, this was a wonderful experience.

Fortune Restoration just finished a phenomenal job on my historical home in Chicago. We had a number of rotting boards, peeling paint and general wear and tear on the north exterior wall of our home. The repair / repaint was thorough and high quality. Communication was excellent. Job site supervision (including taking great care to ensure my neighbors yard remained clean throughout the work) was excellent. If I need exterior paint work again in the future, Fortune will be my first and only call.

Tom and his team did an amazing job repairing and repainting the exterior of our home. The 1880s Victorian style has cedar siding, consisting of a combination of traditional boards and cedar tiles. It had been touched up and well maintained over the years, but no extensive repair or painting had been done. Many of the details, such as the trim around the windows and decorative teeth under the third floor's window trim, had chipped or fallen off. On the wall most exposed to the wind and sun, some siding required repair, a few pieces had to be replaced. Tom's team, led by Sergio, repaired/replaced boards/tiles as necessary, then sanded, primed and repainted all the siding. Their attention to detail was beyond impressive, with the window trim lined perfectly and the decorative accessories, such as the teeth, repaired to its original condition. We were most impressed with how much care the team took at sanding the cedar down to the wood before priming and repainting. The end result is siding that looks brand new. Another plus is they are reasonably priced. We received six quotes and they were in the middle of the pack. I highly recommend Fortune Restoration and Tom and his team. You will not be disappointed.

Fortune Restoration has for many years performed excellent services at the oldest house in Chicago, the Noble-Seymour-Crippen House, a City of Chicago Landmark, and also listed on the National Register. Painting a home built in 1833 needs professionalism, but Fortune’s love for historic places makes our relationship a productive and happy one. We feel blessed to have our partnership.

Excellent all around. From the initial planning phases, until the final day of work, we were extremely satisfied with all aspects of Fortune’s work. Tom was a great communicator, always available, and would check in to make sure things were going well. The entire work crew, including Danny who oversaw the day-in-day-out aspects of the project, were friendly, approachable, and extremely professional. Even our neighbors commented about how gracious the crew was. Our project was fairly large, including window/door replacement, major stucco repair, but Fortune was skilled and knowledgeable to take care of everything, without the need for subcontractors. We’re very satisfied with the end result and cannot give any higher recommendation for Fortune Restoration.

This is my 2nd time using Fortune Restoration and both times were a complete pleasure! From the estimate process to the finishing touches was a smooth process. They were professional, timely, they cleaned everything during and after the project. I've reached out twice since the project was completed to make a couple changes and they came out the next day to accommodate. Pete Fortune and his team were fabulous! At the start of the project, Pete visited our home multiple times to help pick out the colors. He also sent a JC Licht Benjamin Moore paint color specialist to help us make the final decisions. He was responsive to all of our questions in a timely manner via email and phone. Once the painting started, his team was meticulous with attention to detail, extremely tidy, and very efficient. The entire project was done in just over a week. The painting team went the extra mile to do additional coats of paint on sun damaged areas of the house, and they were extremely helpful with answering our questions. Pete and his entire team were wonderful professionals to work with and we will be using them again for future projects. Couldn't recommend more highly!

We just finished our fourth project with them: The workmanship was excellent. The expert crew was hardworking and courteous. The project was well-managed on site and from the office. Fortune also painted the outside of us and has done tuckpointing.

I highly recommend Fortune Restoration for interior painting, especially when finishing work is required after electrical installation and correcting design flaws that require additional drywall and carpentry work. Pete Fortune gave separate estimates for carpentry and finish/paining after the electrical work which left many holes in our walls. Carpentry work was top notch and Crew chief Lorenzo communicated every step of the way so I got what I wanted. I had access to Pete as well, but that was not necessary. The painting, carpentry exceeded my expectations and they finished on time.

Paid for a Cadillac but got a Rolls-Royce! Some of the endless POSITIVES: Thorough inspection of job site and discussion with client followed by written and detailed bid, before Tom left; work was tentatively scheduled a few weeks out at customer’s request and was begun precisely on tentative start date. Crew: 6 men worked dusk to dawn for 5.5 consecutive days; immaculate protection of landscaping, gardens, potted plans, statuary; flawless clean-up at end of each day; polite; daily communication with crew captain; exquisite attention to detail, responsive to client comments and requests within scope of contract; finished job was perfect! The only NEGATIVE: We didn’t find Fortune Restoraton sooner. No one but Fortune Restoration will ever paint for us again! (No discount or perks for this glowing review! ;-)

Fortune Restoration did carpentry, masonry, and external painting on our 100-year-old brick and stucco tudor-style house. Besides being polite and taking care to clean up daily, the workers were so diligent and focused on the details. It was a big job that included repairing and/or replacing and rotted or damaged wood, resealing an exterior wood patio ceiling, spot tuck pointing the entire exterior of the 3 story home, and then finally painting the window surrounds and all wood and stucco on the house and the garage door and sheds. Fortune Restoration’s quality of work held up from start to finish. We could not be more happy with the results!

Fortune repaired and repainted the exterior of my house, a very large nineteenth-century building that had been neglected for some time. Everything about the project went very well: the workmen were conscientious, skilled, and hard-working, and the foreman and company were communicative throughout. The results were excellent - a transformed home.

In completing the siding, repair and restoration of my 1897 Frame 2- flat Fortune Restoration exceeded my expectations. Their carpenters and painters are consulate professionals. Pete, Dan and Jose were a pleasure to work with. My building is not only historically accurate in the materials used but it virtually matches photos and drawings from old house books I used as a reference. This wall was stripped of all siding and trim - all that was left was the framing wood. The final product included re-siding the front wall with cedar (shakes and clapboard, window trim, repairing columns and rebuilding a balcony and porch. Finally painting decking, foundation, siding and trim in historical colors matching a historic photo I provided.

Just had Tom out to discuss a small painting job. While it turned out to be too small of a job for his company, he was very helpful and generous in strategizing the project, suggesting how I should handle it, and then also give his opinion on another construction project I'm thinking about. Seemed very trustworthy - I'd definitely consider his company for future work.

Simply put, it could not have gone better. From start to finish Pete Fortune was the model of professionalism. Communication was outstanding, pricing was a bit high, but fair. And well within the scope of the other prices we got. The crew was completely professional, efficient, hard working and thorough. They arrived early, left late and worked the entire time they were on site. Each night they cleaned up, leaving no debris or garbage. They checked with us before they left equipment for the week while they were working. They wore haz-mat suits and all the appropriate safety gear all the time, and this was during one of Chicago's 90+ heat waves. They did accidentally knock out a pane of glass in a window, and when we asked about it the next day, the crew chief said that he had picked up a piece of replacement glass the night before after he left our house and would replace it that day. Which he did. The work they did matches the original stucco so well that you can't tell where it is. The job was extensive but they finished it right on time. We even added a little more to the project mid week and still they finished on time. Pete stopped by almost every day to check on the work and to make sure that we were satisfied with how everything was going. We would hire this company again in a minute and we cannot say enough good things about them. They clearly understand customer service as well as quality work. It was a pleasure to work with them. We strongly recommend Fortune Restoration.
