We purchased a prepaid package for a new humidifier for our furnace. The young man showed up at the appropriate date and time.jThe first thing he did, was try to sell me a digital control for the humidifier for approximately $300. I declined as we are happy with the old fashioned knob. He installed the humidifier, then did a complete furnace check. He promptly shut down our furnace and tagged it as dangerous, saying there was a crack in the heat exchange . He said the furnace needed to be replaced, or possibly very costly repairs. He said this was extremely dangerous as it could result in a carbon monoxide leak. We have 2 carbon monoxide detectors, both registering "0". He said if we turned the furnace on it was at our own risk. Obviously, we were very alarmed and immediately had 2 other companies check out this problem. Both said there was no crack, only a seam on the side of the exchange. I dont' know if this was inexperience on the part of the young man , or just a scam to get us to purchase a new furnace from him. Either way, it was a very frightening and frustrating day .Not to mention, expensive as I had to have 2 other companies come out immediately to get a second and third opinion before purchasing a new furnace. I am hoping this was just inexperience , as all the previous reviews have been great , and this is why we chose to purchase this package from Toptec.

scheduled 2 hours of service, he arrived on time and completed in the allotted time, used an angie's list deal for 2 hours of service, so no extra charge except for the parts, which were very overpriced. very efficient and clean electrician.

The service technician was on time, had a professional appearance, did a thorough job and , most importantly, explained everything that he did.

Dan arrived exactly at the scheduled time and after a brief exam determined what the problem was. My ejector pump was replaced, new PVC installed, the opening was recaulked, and a separate pipe connection was repaired to avoid leaking. He kept me informed along the way, informed me of the price at the beginning of the job, explained how the sensor works, and left the area as clean as he found it.

He did a very shabby tune-up. He said the humidifier was not hooked up but it was. I did not find him to be very knowledgeable and he didn't do a thorough job. When my husband asked if he was going to do certain things he refused and said what do you expect for a $49 deal.

Not well. They should have said in the fine print what their travel radius was.

The gentleman I talked to to set up the appointment was very professional and eager to get someone out to install as quickly as possible. My husband was home on the day of the installation and from what I understand the worker was couple hours later than the scheduled time but performed the installation in a very timely manner. I had a question about the humidifier that evening and when I called they were able to answer my question promptly and professionally. We are happy with the way the humidifier functions so far and I would recommend this company.

We would definitely recommend Toptec, and would use them again.

We got the Angie's List Big Deal, which was $49 for a cleaning and inspection of our heating system. I think that was an excellent value, as my mom got estimates from other companies for between 115 and 200. I believe the Toptec tech that came out said their regular price was closer to $100 for this service. The tech was very friendly to my family and pets, very clean and professional as well. He explained a few things to me about my furnace that I didn't know. He did find one thing slightly wrong with a capacitor, basically that it may not be performing at full capacity which might be an indication that it may be starting to fail and it cost about $60 to replace. We also spoke about the water heater, and he offered his services to do a more thorough inspection of that. I didn't take him up on it, but he did still tell me about some regular maintenance that I could do myself to keep it in the best condition possible. He did try to upsell me a maintenance agreement but was very understanding when I declined. I know he was just doing what he was told, and he was very polite overall. I wish I could remember his name! We did have to reschedule on them once (our fault) and then on the day of service he was running about an hour late, but he did call to let us know, and he called again when he was getting close. The time difference did not affect us at all, so it was fine.

Easy to schedule, prompt and polite. Rates were more reasonable than other providers we've used in the past. Will use again and will consider also using some of their other services such as plumbing in the future.

The whole experience went very smoothly. I called for the appointment and booked a convenient time slot for a couple days later. The technician arrived on time and completed with work within a couple hours. The job was done thoroughly and the work area was clean upon completion. I would be happy to use Toptek again for future HVAC, plumbing or electrical needs!

Toptec was hired to inspect the furnace of my home as well as my rental condo I have a few miles away. They showed up on time with all the right tools. He was kind and polite as well. When we got to the basement he asked if I wanted the water heater or humidifier serviced. I asked what a water heater service entailed and he explained how they would drain the water heater and vacuum out any debris / sand / junk that lies in the bottom of it. I declined, but apprecaited the offer. I did however request that he take a look at my 24 year old whole house humidifier since I can't figure out how to replace the filter. After an attempt, he too realized that it would require the entire system to be dismantled and shutting off the water (my valve leaks when it's shut off) so he declined the opportunity but recommended I replace the ancient system, and even mentioned a few models. He made recommendations on the furnace but said it's in good working condition. Lastly he went to my condo where a part did need to be replaced and he explained it very well over the phone. I just received the bill in the mail yesterday and it was $50. So all in all I had two furnaces checked in two locations and they replaced a part for a total of $150. I will remember Toptec next year when I have to get another inspection.

Wow -- this turned out to be a great deal where I got so much more than my money's worth. We had a clogged bathtub which was so bad I thought it might take the entire hour to resolve. Instead, the gentleman who came fixed it within 10 minutes and then asked me what other plumbing projects we had around the house so we could get the full hour's worth. He then fixed everything on our list and I think we still had time left over, but it was all covered at that point. We were so happy and appreciative to have long-standing issues resolved so well, so fast and so inexpensively. Would absolutely call again!

This was a smooth job. The workers from Toptec were professional and unusually helpful in explaining the workings and maintenance of the new heater. As well, I had asked about the possibility of upgrading the standard 6 year tank warranty and was told there was an upgrade available to extend it to ten years (an additional part needed to be installed). I elected this option and witnessed the installation myself. (Note: the additional anode was magnesium and the drain valve was brass - signs of quality. ) The new water heater has performed flawlessly so far.

Arrived promptly and performed the cleaning professionally

He was very helpful in answering my questions as to how much life we can eek out of our very old hot water heater. He reminded me of improved efficiency of a newer heater but did not put on any pressure to make a sale or drum up business. He even let me borrow his iphone to take some pictures of the condition of the inside of the hot water heater to see if we could get any help from our Home Warranty in replacing it.

The provided the most thorough and complete furnace cleaning and check up I have ever received....I was very impressed with their service and will use them again.

I have no issues with the plumber who came out. He did what he felt needed to be done and I was happy with the work. My mother is on 24/7 nursing care, and I wanted them to return to adjust the initial repairs on the toilet as it was no longer usable at the time. It was clear that the plumber needed to return and make additional adjustments to the toilet. My mother's nurse called the company to have the plumber return. The receptionist contacted me at work to state that she didn't know when they would be able to send someone over. She told me that there would be emergency fee to begin with since the work was no longer guaranteed. This occurred approximately 11 days after the warranty period. The receptionist was extremely abrasive, rude, unsympathetic to both the nurse and to myself. After dealing with the woman over the phone for a while, I advised her I have never had a problem with a provider from Angie's List. I assumed that the use of Angie's List logo would be supported by their professionalism. I said that I would file a complaint and she stated that she had no problem with me writing a negative review. I contacted my original plumber, who is also on Angie's List, and they were out with in 20 minutes to repair the initial Toptec work. Toptec Heating,Cooling,Plumbing, & Electrical, Inc was contacted by me to make adjustments on their initial worked that was provided. I was not looking for new or free repairs. However, based on my long time association Angie's List and it's provider's my expectations regarding Toptec Heating,Cooling,Plumbing, & Electrical, Inc would stand by their work. I do want to note my original plumber did not charge me for the Toptec repairs.

They came promptly, they had a fine demeanor, left the place clean. Update 6/4/2014: When you have a furnace installed and serviced, the tech always puts their tag with their contact information on it so you can call them back for later services. I've noticed now that Top Tec ripped off everybody else's tags on my furnace and covered up all the other service stickers with their own. This is unethical. So now I don't even have the name of who originally installed the service for me. It makes me wonder what else may have been done that was unethical.

Dre was very thorough in explaining several things, including the old non-working Aprilaire humidifier and inspecting our very, very old water heater. He suggested we replace both as they were so old and the water heater had been making a lot of banging noises for several years when the hot water is being used. Dre was on time, polite, friendly and professional, and took time at the end of the service call to sit with my 90 year old mother to explain to her what he thought needed to be done based on his inspection. We are looking forward to seeing Dre again in the springtime for that a/c service. Ditto for Dan! I could not believe how quiet Dan was removing the old water heater and installing the new one. I happened to be working in the basement that day and couldn't believe how quiet he was. He laid down drop cloths from the entry, down the stairs, and up to where the unit was being placed so as not to bring in any dirt or have any rust drip out of the old heater. He also took a look at the old Aprilaire humidifier and suggested it be replaced. Dan took the time to explain to me why our water pressure was low and suggested we clean all the aerators in all the sinks. That's what we did and everything's running full force now - Thanks Dan! I would highly recommend Top Tec (especially Dre and Dan) to anyone looking for the many services they provide. P.S. Both Dan and Dre cleaned up any mess that was made, which saved me a lot of work. The job was performed professionally and very hassle-free!

They were great they were very professional. He helped me find my filter because I couldn’t find it. I was afraid to open the furnace in the past and he showed me how to do that and made me more comfortable. He cleaned the furnace and he ran in to no problems. He did advise me that in the future I needed to make a repair but that it was dire and they could fix it whenever I want.

I used the $49.00 big deal for a furnace cleaning. Toptec arrived about 30 minutes after the scheduled appointment time, but they did call when they were on the way. My furnace was especially dirty, and the cleaning took about 1.5 hours. I was very pleased with the amount of effort that was put in to cleaning my furnace. They even cleaned the reusable filter that was covered in dust. They made a few recommendations for future maintenance, but did not try to upsell me on services.
