Toptec was awesome. They did exactly what they said they would do, when and as fast as they said they would do it and as clean as possible. I would highly recommend them.

Adam called to let me know he was running late which I greatly appreciated. He was quick and professional. He explained how to get the best results from the furnace and helped with my programmable thermostat.

Adam was extremely helpful making sensible recommendations and finding issues previous inspectors from a different company had missed - I really thought he went over and above to provide good service. The other company I had used were really hard to schedule - if you called it would be weeks before they could come out whereas I was able to schedule this inspection the following day.

We bought our townhouse 2 months ago and the microwave above the cooktop was installed so that the cook fumes were being recirculated back into the kitchen. The quote person Joe, who I believe is the owner of the company, gave us a quote of $1800 to replace the old microwave and install a 6" duct through the cabinets and the roof of our unit, put a roof vent and a backdraft preventer. It was going to be major work given the location of our cooktop. Before the work was done my HOA asked for some documentation which Joe's team did their best to accommodate which i appreciate. he had said he's done lots of work in my development in the past so he knew something of what would be needed. It was a pleasant surprise when the old microwave was removed, that duct work was already in place from the original construction negating the need for the new 6" ductwork. So the only thing that needed to be done was replace the old microwave - no cabinet cutting for the duct, no new holes in the roof or drywall, no materials needed, etc. When the new work scope was understood that morning, the installers called the owner and informed me that they would make a change to the quote. They finished in 3 hours start to finish. Joe had estimated 2 people for near 8 hours to complete the original job. The installers did a great job. Side story - they did not have the correct diamond cutting wheel or grinder to cut 1/2" of backsplash stone so the new microwave would fit against the wall so l loaned them mine. The problem - when they finished the quote was reduced from $1800 to $1400. But 2 guys for 3 hours to install a new microwave for $1400 is much more than the actual work performed. Upon hearing about the new quote I called TopTec home office who would not put me through to Joe to discuss the situation at the time so I requested that Joe call me at his convenience. I was willing to pay a premium since the work scope changed so dramatically but with no response I felt I needed to pay the installers the $1400 and they said 'Joe would make it right'- they seemed a bit embarrassed by the whole thing. It has been two weeks now and no call from Joe. If I asked for a quote to install a new microwave I am sure it would not have been anything close to $1400.

He does good work, however much too expensive. I feel they charge emergency rates all of the time rather than in the case of emergencies. He charges per 15 minutes plus a service call.

He showed up when he said he would for the quote. However he never gave me a quote. I received a nice brochure from him but never received a price. I told him I wanted to get this done about mid October during the change of seasons. Here it is October 13 and haven't heard anything.

He showed up on time and was very casual. He immediately told us that the Angie's List coupon we bought was only good for 30 minutes (or however long it was for) and that as soon as he hit 30 minutes, it was going to be $75/hour after that. He mentioned this a couple times. He reviewed our system, told us that is was old-ish and that we couldn't really do anything other than completely replace it. (So live with our mild dissatisfaction or spend $$$$ to fix it) There was a very rusty area on the A/C exterior/housing, we asked about it, he said it was from an old leak and not an issue. A couple weeks later we found active water dripping from that rusty area. The filter needed to be replaced, the former owners had left a couple new ones for us. He spend a solid 10 minutes (so 30% of my coupon time before the $75/hour started racking up) trying to get the filter in the vent. The filter was noticeably bent during this installation. There was a small piece of metal preventing the filter from sliding in easily and the solution (for the tech) was to keep shoving the filter in and out until it went in. Also, the remaing new filters were destroyed from previously mentioned leak.

Everything went very well. They were very professional and nice. I think we will utilize them again in the spring for check up.

Adam did the heating and cooling diagnostic I paid for using the coupon on our Rheem furnace that was not working. Found out that a board was faulty. Same day Stefanie sent me another invoice for the diagnostic I had already paid for. Had to send an email to clarify and learn that by mistake they had sent me the invoice they wanted to send to Angies list ... guess if I had just paid the invoice by mistake, nobody would have ever called me back. Several discussions over the following days whether the unit was still under warranty (only 2 years old). Finally I referred to the Rheem warranty and surprisingly they found an error Adam made when he jotted down the serial number of the unit. Finally the part was declared a warranty part, which also means (by their rules) that they will charge $95 for handling charges (as they have to return the part to the distributer is what they said). I felt I had negotiated a lower installation cost with Stefanie but Adam insisted that he should be paid $140 for 1 hour of labor. We paid and also learned there was another part that was malfunctioning (remember, we paid for the diagnostic ahead of time). So he had to order a part which took a week (no heating) until it was received and they charged another $60 for the install on 9/24. On 10/3 the same furnace stopped working again, might be the same issue (same symptoms). Jury is out whether they changed the wrong parts or the thing is a lemon.

Mike came out to assess the boiler, provided some long-term recommendations, addressed some short-term concerns, and we discussed a plan of action. he came back out a couple of days later and replaced a part for me, explained some things I should look out for and take care of, and he couldnt have been any nicer. I was extremely happy with the service and I thought the pricing was very fair.

The Big Deal doesnt cover what is needing to be done.

The staff is wonderful and I would highly recommend their service. There were two guys here installing the unit and it took about 6 hours to do the work. They hauled away the old unit, even worked on some of ducts and slabs on the exterior.

Everything went well, and it was easy to deal with the company. The technician was personable, did a good job, and cleaned up after himself.

They responded quickly and checked the furnace and AC. All was fine except the filter. I had already replaced the filter and the AC was working by the time they arrived. They did what I wanted and I am very pleased.

Purchased an Angie's List deal for a diagnostic visit for $42.50. Our first visit was on May 22nd. Andre (Dre) made the diagnosis and replaced the blower motor for $499. Nice enough guy, did a lot of talking. On June 30th, my husband & I noticed it was running loud again, almost rattling. Called TopTec to verify this was not a normal noise, say of a hot summer day, or did we need to get this checked out. He agreed it wasn't normal. They got me on the schedule for 2 days later. Same technician, Dre, came back on July 2nd. Right away it was obvious he had a chip on his shoulder, as if taking this second visit personally. His first words from the front door were "I'm a little surprised to be here." Minutes upon getting to the furnace, he scolded me for not changing the filter monthly (I missed this month mark by 8 days). "What did I say about changing out these filters, Mrs. G?" I don't need to be reprimanded. He looked at the unit, and determined, with the main office (Joe), that a new wheel would be needed. They would call me back with a quote. Joe called me back; it would cost $280, to be ordered from the factory. Later that night, I found Dre had written on our ductwork "Change Filter Monthly" in large print with a sharpie. Didn't appreciate that. (Plus, the research i've done indicates anywhere from 1-3 months is acceptable). On July 3, I called back to let them know we were going to decline moving forward and work with another company. I spoke to Mike. I explained how the second visit with Dre had made me feel uncomfortable. Mike said all the right things, was apologetic for the way the visit had gone, and that he would take care of it and be calling me back within the hour, "hoping to have good news" for us. I wasn't sure what that meant exactly, but I was willing to wait for him to circle back. Three hours later, another man, Dave, called me and left a message trying to verify if we wanted the $280 part or not, that a 50% deposit would be required, etc. No acknowledgment of my conversation with Mike, or how we weren't happy with the technician's attitude. When I called Dave back, he said yes he had spoken with Mike, that Mike asked Dave to to determine if we were going to order the new wheel. When I said we didn't want it, he asked if I was planning to replace the entire furnace. (facepalm!) TopTec seemed to miss the boat on customer service. I'm happy to replace whatever parts need it, but Dre's rough attitude, and the office's poor follow-through, is sending me elsewhere.

A big deal from Toptec Heating, Cooling, Plumbing & Electrical Inc of 49 dollars for your choice of furnace clean and check. It was through my home owners warranty to replace the furnace but the work that Toptec ended up doing, I found out later, wasn't done correctly. Yes, they stuck with the big deal price. They just didn't do the job or work correctly. They were supposed to put a plenum box underneath the furnace and that wasn't done. I had to get the job reworked by another contractor.

The installation went ok. Interesting that all the workers that came to the house has a Top Tec truck so at times there were 6 trucks in/around my house which caused a bit of traffic issues. It took 2 days to install. After the installation, the first time I turned on the furnace, water leaked all over the floor. A had to place a service call. As usual, he came out but had no parts and could just put a temporary fix in place. The issue was the 'wrong usnit' had been installed which didn't fit thus causing the leak. This was a brand new unit, so I would have expected the installers to know how to install. They had to put in new venting. I had to push them to seal the vents through the walls/roof. They installed the monitors in the middle of the wall, too low so it can't be read unless you get down on your knees and look up. They claimed this is where it had to go, but the wiring/plugs allowed for it to go at least a foot higher to one could read it while standing.

The tech Adam showed up on time, gave us headsup 30 mints upon arrival. He spent a almost 2 hours in my house inside and outside. Even the outdoor units were very clean by the time he left. We had other concerns about plumbing and electrical in our house, Adam helped us set up an appointment with the owner of the company to discuss. Joe the owner showed up 3 days later, explained everything and gave us the quote onside. Plan to call them in a couple of days to set up time for next job...

Every time TopTec has come to our house, they representative has been friendly, tidy, and informative.

Arrived on time. Outside spigot had burst and water leaks into house when spigot is turned on. Required a new spigot and replacing some copper tubing in the basement ceiling. Worker wore booties and laid down a tarp so there was no damage to the basement, which is finished. Took about 2 hours.Was very professional and explained everything.

They did good work and we were happy with the service and Big Deal.

I have tried numerous times since May 22nd to get a contract or proposal from this company. They have failed to get this to me. Everytime they say that they will email this or provide it they never do and I have to wait and contact them myself.
