We had a good experience with this company from the beginning to end. The administrative staff in the office is very helpful with scheduling estimates and work as well as keeping us in the loop of timing of work. Dave is very knowledgable and helped us come up with the perfect plan for the deteriorating items we needed replacing on our house. The crew was hard working and cleaned up after themselves after the end of each day. After work was completed, we had a couple of areas which needed addressing and they were very responsive and timely in coming out to take a look and address our concerns. Highly recommend this company, and we will certainly be inquiring with them again when we need our windows and roof replaced.

I needed my windows replaced in my home but was not an informed buyer. Dave Hacker took the time to educate me on the window choices and guided me to what option would be best to suit my budget, taste and needs. Their prices were better or comparable to the other 4 estimates I received. Everyone I dealt with at HX Hackers Exteriors was pleasant, professional and responsive including Dave, the office staff, the painters and the window installers. The windows installers were very efficient, extremely neat and not a speck of debris was left behind. The painters also were professional, neat and did a great job. Overall, a very good experience. The windows including both interior and exterior trim look amazing! I would highly recommend them to anyone.

I can't compliment Hackers Exteriors enough. Don took extra time to explain each aspect of proper roof replacement and provide a detailed estimate. All my questions were patiently and thoroughly addressed. The price was in the middle of 3 estimates received. When weather thwarted our plans to begin work, Danielle kept me informed on a continual basis and worked with me to adjust the schedule. The workmen were professional, polite and did a superb job. I couldn't be more pleased and would recommend this company to anyone who needs work done. As a side note: this company doesn't just have a P.O Box # or a phone number alone, but actually has a physical location in Libertyville. That provides an additional level of peace of mind to the customer who is giving a deposit for future work.

Our house is a 2800 sq ft, two-story in suburban Chicago. Worked with Dave Hacker (owner) throughout entire process from initial bidding of work to final payment once work was completed. Dave was very knowledgeable and helpful at every aspect of the process. He referred us to the local window warehouse/supplier where we were able to view a large variety of windows side-by-side, which was extremely helpful in making our final decision. Once we chose our windows and siding, a start date was selected within two weeks and work started on that day. Within two days, the windows (16 total and an oversized patio door) were installed and fully trimmed out and the siding was being removed. This took most of two days, coinciding with the window installation, and once complete, house wrap and foam insulation installation began, followed immediately by trim and siding installation. Their painters came in about two days following completion of window installation for final touch-up of the windows and associated trim. The siding installation continued six days a week (approx. two weeks) until complete, by a crew of only two!! The workmanship of each of the various trades (window installers, painters, siding installers) was extremely good. They were all very punctual; each very professional and friendly, and worked the entire time on the job. Because of this, we could not be happier with the final outcome of our home. We have only been in this house for one year and had made several new friends in the neighborhood within that time, but during the nearly three weeks of 'construction', we made several more as people would stop and chat about how nice the house looks and asking for recommendation on Hacker's work, which we immediately would say "give them a call, you won't be disappointed". We solicited other quotes prior to accepting this one, which we found was not only competitive, it was actually a much better price considering the materials being used. We had initially spec'd the Hardie siding with the other quotes, yet allowed each to present what they felt were their 'best' windows. When we went to the local window warehouse/showroom where all of the windows were shown, the rep we spoke to directed us to the Marvin brand which we ultimately settled on. As we could see there, they were by far the best for our use.

Having been very happy with the work Hacker's Exteriors did for us a few years ago, we were looking forward to another successful partnership, and they did not disappoint. Their employees, straight from the top with Dave Hacker, to Danielle at the office, and all the way through Rob and Chris in the field, are top notch. Every interaction was professional and punctual. They did what they said they were going to do, when they said they were going to do it, for how much money we originally agreed upon. They even went above and beyond to fix some things not done correctly by another subcontractor, because they wanted to leave us with a finished project that would not only be visually pleasing, but to ensure our family's safety. We are choosy consumers, expecting exactly what we are willing to give, and we are more than happy to give Hacker's Exteriors a 5-star excellent rating across the board. If you have any exterior work that you would like to have completed, do not hesitate to contact them!

I had used Hackers before, so this was really no-brainer, and, like before, the results were fantastic. All told, the whole job took about three weeks, accounting for delays caused by weather. We had a choice between vinyl and Hardie Plank. We went with Hardie Plank because the costs were about the same and the look is so much better. Hacker sends over from one to three people depending on the task of the day. It is clear from the descriptions of what they do as compared to their execution that they know what they are doing. I had an extensive list of questions (what about the roof? what about eave vents? what about the cables attached to the house? what about the electrical boxes? the lights? how are the cracks sealed? what about the fan exhaust? what happens if any damage to the house/plants/stuff during installation? warranty?...and so on). Calmly and confidently, they answered all of my questions. They got the building permit and they arranged for the disposal of the garbage, so no hassle there. The install went very smoothly. There were some curveballs that were discovered when the old siding was pulled off that required some creative thinking (the top of one of the brick walls was false, and required the installation of a modified plank), but nothing really seemed to present this company with anything they hadn't seen before. After the job, Don and I walked the yard to review the work. All of the little "leftovers" were identified and addressed. I am certain that I kept him from his dinner, but he graciously gave me his time. Since the job, we have received many compliments from neighbors. We have also noticed that many other neighbors are using Hackers for their siding installation too, so this reinforces our selection even more (not that we needed it). Additionally, we have a third project that we are interested in Hackers looking at. In short, I have no problem with highly recommending Hackers for this type of work. A beautiful door and a great experience. With some advice from Don, we were able to mock up a new front door on the Provia site and his guys then did a great job installing it. The quality of the work is excellent; they matched the color of the outside frame to the house trim perfectly and their painter came back a week after the install to paint the inside framing. The door is sealed well, no cold air flowing in at all. Cleanup was mostly good. Don also emphasized that they stand behind their work and will fix any problems with the product. The order arrived and the work was done in a timely fashion. They work with you on scheduling. No problems, an almost completely seamless process. Would highly recommend.

A great job was performed. The crew was efficient and cleaned up extremely well. Some facia board had to be replaced, and they were able to paint it offsite before it was installed. That process worked very well. We're very pleased with the work that was done on this project. We are also having Hacker install replacement windows.

I had to call 3 times. The first number in their ad does not ring, it makes a noise and then goes silent. So then I tried the next number which said that the mailbox was not set-up. So I gave the first number a try again and just waited in silence (no ringing) and someone did answer. I spoke to him about my issues and he was pleasant enough saying that he would send 2 different people out to look and the roof and the other for the siding. He suggested that my bug problem was not an issue with the siding but I should call an exterminator. FYI- exterminator told me that the problem was probably under the siding, so now I have no one that wants to tackle that problem. Anyway, I waited about a week and my husband called back to see if they had been out. They seems surprised that we called. Then talking to them was like extracting teeth. I don't know if they actually can or were just making it up. They said there were issues, but were not able to explain what they were. They didn't even offer to give an estimate. So, I figured forget it. They obviously don't need the work. Also, in calling them back, it was the same game with the phone system. This whole experience had been very frustrating.

It was very good experience working with Steve Hacker. He helped us work with all the many options, features and styles to choose from in replacing our doors. The workmanship was excellent and everything was installed problem free. The pricing was comparable to other quotes, however we found the Provia Doors to be of a higher quality than other manufactures we researched. We had an unusually large front entry door, that he replaced with a beautiful fiberglass door and side lights, allowing us to choose from many more door options. We were very pleased with the results for our front entry door as well as the other entry doors. This front entry door looks and feels just like a wood door! Steve was present for the installation, and he was able to arrange his schedules to meet ours from the estimate to the installation.

They did just great. The guy was very responsive. My mother was still alive, and she thought the guy was very professional, did what he said he would, and on time and all that. So, they did a good job. I don’t remember the price, but I am sure that we felt that it was appropriate and reasonable, or my mom would have said something or I would have said something. She was very happy with the quality. They did what they said they would do, and they called back and all that. They were on time. They said they were going to be there on a certain morning, and they were there.

Called Hackers exteriors on 3/19/2014 for a small leak repair in siding going down to bedroom ceiling and a small repair of a hole on front porch roof. I was impressed they were going to come out the next day for assessment. My wife and myself juggled schedules and eventually my wife took the day off to be there for the appointment ( was scheduled for 3/20/2014@ 4 pm) received a call same day of appointment at approx. 9 am stating that basically my jobs were going to be to small in comparison the worth of time to the company and that they were understaffed to fulfill my appointment. The scheduler/ woman I spoke to on the phone did offer a company they sometimes use to sub contract. I found that unacceptable! The woman I spoke to was very courteous and apologetic but the end result here is thus if you don't do small jobs Mr. Hacker then advertise as such! If you are undermanned then hire some people I'm sure in this economy somebody would love a job and finally understand you cost my wife a days work leave hours .I am a firm believer in hiring local small personally owned companies but you sir gave the " little guy" a black eye today. If you use this company make sure they are willing to take the " small jobs"

Very punctual, knowledgable, and professional.

Called David Hacker for an estimate on installing Marvin Windows on my entire house. He came out a couple of days later, took measurements, made suggestions on how to do some of the work, and then submitted an estimate a few days later. We agreed that the work would be done right after the weather got better in the spring. In May he sent a crew (5 installers) out and they completed the entire installation in one week. They worked continuously for four to five days, reinstalled drapes and blinds they had removed, and cleaned up the areas where they had worked. They recommended a painter, John Washington, who stained the inside of the windows. John did an excellent job and he completed all of his work within two weeks of the windows being installed. Can't praise Hacker's Exteriors enough on the job they (Mark the foreman, his crew, and John Washington) did putting the windows in this house.

The original siding was rotting due to water seeping underneath it. They replaced the old siding and beams with new Hardie Board siding. They also matched the new paint to the sides of the house so you cannot tell the new from the old. Also provided us with expert advice pertaining to the 3 remaining sides of the house.

The job was done well. There were no additional costs above the quote. They completed the job within the timeframe that was advised. We find that it is very difficult to see the seams. We anticipate using them for future projects.

Hacker's Exteriors did an excellent job from start to finish. Dave Hacker, the owner, is knowledgeable and professional. Dave's crew did a beautiful job on our James Hardie siding. Their attention to detail was top notch. They took their time and were clean and professional. They truly delivered the best looking house in the subdivision! I would highly recommend Hackers Exteriors to anyone who wants high quality work from a trustworthy company.

The installation went well. There was a slight mismeasurement on the interior window frame work but it was easily corrected. The windows were completed in 2 days. There was a windows frame that was missed with the cauk on the exterior. The inspector noted it and it took a several conversations and follow-up with Hacker's to get them to finish the missed cauk, but it did get completed.

On both occasions, the work was done as scheduled and in an excellent manner. I have recommended them to friends and, on one occasion, to a distant neighbor who was passing by and wanted to know about my experience. They have done other window and siding work for my immediate neighbors and we are all very pleased with them.

Requested bid from Dave and he was very prompt. Second bid I was received was a little lower on some parts of the job.Dave's expertise and recommendations was the turning point though as i needed some guidance on exactly what to get done. At first, the timing was a little too far out but he was able to get me on his scheduled earlier and that was key. His crew showed early and were hard workers. Dave would show up and give them some guidance and even made them redoa part of the job because he didn't think it was good enough. Although the job took a little longer then what was expected it turned out extremely nice and Dave's recomendations were right on because if I didn't take them, I know I would have regretted it. The crew worked hard, cleaned up ok but that part could have been better. Overall they did a very good job and hopefully all the work stands the test of time because it sure does look good.

I didn't go with this company mainly due to price. Mr. Hacker was on time and not just professional but very helpful. While I didn't use him for this project, I will use him in the future for a siding project.

They were exactly double the price compared to the guys who are installing the exact same windows right now. The owner himself came out to give me the quote and he seemed like a honest and outstanding guy.
