Mike was extremely helpful solving a problem with a beam on a vaulted ceiling. He was flexible and communicative about his arrival time for our appointment. After inspecting the beam, Mike answered all of my questions clearly. He evidently takes pride in his work as he called me later in the day to discuss an issue that occurred to him after he left my house, feeling it important to offer all options. I will definitively call George Krinninger & Sons again.

Spoke with Mike, he had an opening was able to fit us in immediately. He & R.J. arrived at our house on time. Due to a minor unforeseen issue, Mike offered a solution that avoided possible interior frame complications and was reasonably priced. The final install looks great. Frames look untouched, perfect solution.

Mike was very easy to work with, got a quote to me quickly and on the day of the project showed up on time and completed the porch earlier than expected. He and his assistant did a very nice job, cleaned up all debris and scraps from old screens they removed. Would definitely use them again.

Starting with the consultation and through the completion; Mike is the kind of contractor that makes "pain in the neck" projects easy. First and very important to me is promptness. Mike was prompt with his return calls, emails and appointments. He explained what needed to be done. He kept me updated regarding his schedule and mother nature's schedule. (He's busy and that's always a good sign for a good carpenter/contractor!) Screens and door look great. I will definitely use him for other projects.

Mike was wonderful to work with. He gave me an estimate and stuck to it. He fixed things the right way. He made sure I was kept informed of all their scheduling and the progress on the entire project in addition to being available to me through the entire process. He always returns phone calls promptly. His subs are clean and concise and clearly very knowledgable and good at what they do. Everyone was incredibly polite and clean. Super. Have dealt with this company before. No job too big or complex it seems. Previously it was a cupola around barn and some other exterior stuff concerning posts and pillars around house. Fair and very skilled. Mike is a good communicator. Client always in the know. What more could one want?

They cut out the rotten floorboards and replaced them with new wood, making a perfect fit into the remaining original wooden flooring. They also took off all the rotten railings and spindles and replaced them with composite material which looks better than the wood originals and better yet, will never need repainting or repair. Lastly, the rotten wooden columns were removed and replaced with tapering fiberglass columns which look identical to the wooden originals but are permanent and will never rot or need repainting or repair. Because my house was built in 1870, most surfaces are uneven and nothing is exactly level, but Mike worked with the wood so that it all looks picture perfect. When I was taking too long to decide on what style railings and spindles I wanted, Mike sent me specific examples, and when I couldn't figure out the columns, he found exactly what I had described. All work was done expertly and timely. As important as the quality of the work was the reasonableness of the cost; Mike's bid was literally a fraction of the competing bids. Best of all, the entire crew was friendly, pleasant, and immaculate.

Mike was very responsive in trying to work with my schedule. The screen in our sliding door had holes and it had come off track and wouldn't slide. He replaced the screen in our sliding door and also lubricated the wheels so it will now work properly.

The project went great. We were on a tight schedule trying to complete the rehab of this property so we could get it listed for sale and Mike did a great job of working with that schedule. The screens turned out great and he even hauled away all of the old window screens for us. I will definitely be keeping this company on my vendor list for future projects.

Mike was great to work with -- on time, efficient, the shutters look great. Not only that, he came up with a way to fix the problem with our screen door. I'm waiting for the part to arrive, then I'm sure that problem will be fixed, too. And finally, he fixed my piano bench with a creative solution that was reasonably priced and did the trick!! I can't say enough great things about how he works. All my wood problems were solved -- or soon will be!!! Thanks so much!

Mike is a true professional and only hires subs that are of the same level. He is on time, clean, honest and a pleasure to work with. He worked for a new non profit, Beacon Place and was very aware of limited resources and the need to complete on time. He communicated with the me daily and provided us with detailed spreadsheets. He demonstrated quality work and is one of the few true craftsmen left in the area. He is very organized and committed to his work. His crew is very polite and respectful. Having worked with Mike on this huge renovation project I feel confident that I would use him at my own home or when and if we ever rehab another home. Mike is an honest and true craftsman.

Mike really helped us out in a pinch. We needed fascia replaced on the front of our house quickly, in time for roofers who were scheduled to make a repair. Our original contractor canceled the last minute, so we called Mike. He was very responsive to our needs, came out on a Saturday to check it all out, and then had his workers on the job 7am the following Tuesday. They completed everything in less than a half day, and in time for the roofers. In addition, he ensured that all the materials were picked up and delivered to our house in time for the job. That was a relief not having to deal with Home Depot delivery! Overall, a smooth job, that met our needs, in a very short time frame. We would definitely use Mike again in the future.

Mike Krinninger was prompt about scheduling a consultation to come over to my house and give me an appraisal for a custom built fireplace surround. During the consultation it became very apparent that Mike is honest at the day is long! He was very helpful in explaining the process in building the fireplace surround and always made sure that my vision and taste was reflected in this project. He was able to salvage my existing fireplace mantel, and incorporate it into the surround he built; I thought this was very resourceful and honest. Mike was very helpful in finding a reliable and convenient lumber supplier in my area, in order to match the birch woodworking in my home. Mike is hardworking, accommodating, and personable. Him and another worker were careful, clean, and friendly, as they built the fireplace surround. They had great attention to detail as they worked, and were sure to check in often with me, to make sure everything was built to my taste. I wish I could attach a picture to show how beautiful the fireplace surround turned out!! They were able to build a fireplace surround that is so rich and elegant looking, and keep with the 100 year old charm of my house. I cannot say enough positive about Krinninger and Sons, I would highly recommend them to anyone!

Mike came out to measure the door and gave me a timely quote. Because of the size of the door opening in our house we needed a custom door. This was one of 3 quotes we received for this project and Mike was by far the least expensive. He even provided the actual quote from the lumber company so I could see what the charge was the make the door. We went with his company based on the past work he did at our house. RJ came out to install the door and was a true carpenter. He worked with me to ensure that everything he was doing was to our standards. I had concerns about replacing the molding around the door for fear it would not match the rest of the molding in the house. He reused our current molding and added the additional drywall that was needed. He was meticulous and because of this you can't tell anything was done other than replace the door. It is clear RJ has pride in his work which I feel is hard to find these days. The door is beautiful and we will absolutely use them again. Thank you Mike and RJ!

When Mr.K said, "It's all rotten up there." We knew that our old 7' x 11' cupola on our barn needed more than just a patch job. "Can you totally make a new one while up on the roof?" "Sure" was his reply and three weeks later we had the nicest cupola in Chicago. Mr. K and his two assistants were polite, friendly, and punctual. He kept track of all costs--being especially cost-conscious in terms of all materials. In fact, once that project was done we extended it to include balconies at the main house. Great job there, too. Is he fair in his pricing? Yes. Do he and his men have the skills to handle a difficult carpentry job? I definitely think so. They truly care about their work. Weeks later he came to the house just to check on things. ,

Mike responded within a couple of hours to my E-mail request and photos. Met with me the next day and we discussed solutions to the replacement, including materials and design for each window. Included in the discussion is a comprehensive history of Mike's business and his experience. His personal workmanship and standards of work for his employees is extremely high. His crew came fully prepared and put in long days on tall ladders. Each day the work site was completely cleared leaving no trace of his having been there. Mike's pride in his business, his honesty, and the joy he takes in completing this job perfectly is worth every dollar he requested. I've got other jobs at my house I'll be having him do next summer.

It went very well except later that day I tried to lock the screen door and it wouldn't lock. I called Mike up to let him know and he returned later that evening with his son to fix the problem which he determined was the first installation, the screen was installed to tightly. He reinstalled a new screen and problem solved. He was very polite and professional and I would use him again without a doubt.
