Emergency Services Offered
Services we offer
Installation and replacement of water heaters, sump pumps, ejector pumps, bathroom and kitchen fixtures, sewer and water service, maintenance and emergency drain rodding, faucet repair & replacement.
I sent a message to Lake Cook Plumbing on 6/29 providing them with the following list of plumbing issues I needed addressed: 1) Guest Bathroom sink faucets no water comes out when turned on. 2) Guest Bathroom tub faucet not working - no water comes out - although I had a feeling it might be just a stripped knob. Also, when the bathtub was filled with water, the water slowly leaks out while the drain stopper is in (seal not tight enough & there was evidence of corrosion and hard water/mineral deposit around drain. 3) Master Bathroom: Installation of a new rain shower head (I supplied the shower head) and a new bathroom drain stopper, mine is damaged (bottom connection is broken), it's supposed to be connected to the drain assembly and just slightly turn when needed. 4) Need 2 outside spigots assessed to see if they are leaking - not sure whether it is the actual spigots or the hoses connected that are the problem (water everywhere when I use the hose!) I told them there was no emergency but wanted to address in a timely manner, told them where I resided and to please contact me via e-mail to schedule an appointment. A day later I received a very pleasant e-mail from Kimberly informing me they would be happy to assist me in my needs and to phone her to set up an appointment. Shortly thereafter I phoned and set-up an appointment for 7/7, during this call I asked her if my specific plumbing needs were a good candidate for the Angie's Deal of $99 for $200 worth of plumbing labor; she said yes; so I went ahead and purchased the Angie's Deal and I'm glad I did because the clogged faucets in the Guest Bathroom were quite troublesome and time consuming to fix (eventually had to have another plumber come to assist with a special pump to clear the lines) On the day of my appointment, Steve arrived on time (even phoned ahead to let me know he was on his way - nice!). I explained and showed him all of the issues mentioned above; he assessed and provided me with 2 written options as to the scope & cost of the work, I chose the less expensive option ($572) after learning that the installation of 2 bathtub drains with twist & turn stoppers was quite labor intensive and expensive (the whole drain assembly has to be replaced!) After discussing with him I decided that it was just as effective and much more cost effective if I would purchase simple rubber drain stoppers and be done with it.) All of the work went very quickly and smoothly (new shower head, cartridges, and a new bath tub knob installed, no problems with the outdoor spigots - it was just bad garden hoses!) Until it came to figuring out why no water would come out of the sink faucets - Steve spent quite a bit of time and went down the checklist of trying & replacing different things to resolve - we determined because the faucets were very rarely used (It's a Guest Bathroom) there was severe calcium buildup - they were really clogged! He phoned a colleague, explained the situation and soon Mike D arrived with a special pump after rigging it up a couple of different ways and pumping it a couple of times - we heard a loud pop sound and the water was flowing! I now understand the benefits and necessity of occasionally "exercising" (Plumber term, it means turn the faucets on every few weeks and let them run a couple of minutes so they don't get clogged!) those faucets (sinks & showers/tubs) that don't get used very often. I found my experience with Lake Cook Plumbing Services very satisfying, Steve was punctual, professional, tidied up after himself and even wore booties in my house after going in and out to his truck for parts. He addressed all of my plumbing issues, educated me on some of the plumbing things I knew nothing about, suggested ways to avoid problems in the future, and assured me that my decision of going with the simple rubber drain stoppers in the bathtubs would be as effective and a lot less costly then replacing all of the drain assemblies. Also, glad I purchased the Angie's Deal as my total bill was reduced by $200 bringing the total to $372 vs. $572.
Description of Work: Unplugged rarely used sink faucets in Guest Bathroom (used hydrostatic pump) - there was no water coming out of the faucets - it was really plugged bad! Also replaced faucet cartridges; replaced new cartridge and new knob in bathtub; and installed new rain shower head in Master Bathroom. Assessed 2 outside spigots to see if they were leaking - they weren't it was just bad hoses!

The technician got here promptly. He explained what he was going to do and gave me a price. He went to work, but about 2 hrs. into the work, said he had to go get a part. This was before 4 and he didn't return until after 5. He was working on the tenant's apt. in my owner occupied two flat. He said he had to re-build the insides of one and auger out the other. He then came down to look at one of my toilets which had a tendency to run. He said that he would have to rebuild the insides and then did. This was going to cost me $610 less my big deal . The problem came when the upstairs tenant used the "fixed" toilet still filled very slowly. I called and the service manager, who was very nice called me back to ask what the problems were. I asked that he send another plumber as the first plumber did not solve the issues. He said that he couldn't do that. He said he would speak with the plumber, who he said had not been told that the toilet was running slow. I know I told him that because that was the point of the whole call. The same plumber was scheduled . He came out for the second time and re-built the toilet he had only augured initially. I had to pay for the time he spent on the second call, though not the service call. Another 137 dollars Bottom line, my toilet still runs occasionally, though not as much as before. The upstairs toilet still fills extremely slowly. I will not call a third time because I don't think they will fix the issues. The only reason I am not rating them lower is because everyone I spoke with was very nice and professional. They just didn't fix my issues.

I contacted Lake Cook and they were able to come out almost immediately. The woman who booked the appointment was very professional and was sure to tell me what the Deal covered and about other possible costs. Mike the plumber arrived on time and put protective booties on in my house even though I told him he did not have to. He quickly got to work on the problem, which at first didn't easily resolve itself. The clog had moved further down the line to where my short auger didn't reach. Luckily Mike arrived with a truck seemingly stocked with whatever he might need and was able to snake the line and remove the clog handily. Mike kept us informed about what he was doing the whole time and was very professional. We will certainly recommend Lake Cook to friends and family in need of the services they provide.
Description of Work: I had a clogged toilet, that just wouldn't respond to our augering/plunging after a good week of trying. I bought a Deal for $99 for $200 worth of services.

Fantastic! We had two different plumbing issues going on in our apartment. In the kitchen, Mike closed a valve that was running water to no where. This solved our condensation issue. We then moved onto the bathroom where I explained to Mike that we had a leakage issue and a clogged drain issue. Mike provided us with a detailed estimate of cost prior to starting the work. He removed a lot of hair and sealed the pipe correctly. Mike did a fabulous job and we will definitely call him again for all of our plumbing needs.

The technician (Phillip) was very professional and did contact home with estimated arrival time. Arrived on time and was courteous and polite. Explained all aspects of the plumbing work to be done in simple terms and was able to fix within a resonable amount of time. Very considerate and would recommend the company to others. Also provided an estimate for requested future work (replace sink and faucet in Kitchen) and will request this tech again. DId not try to push homeowner for additional work and was straight forward with work to be done.
Description of Work: Called for service with: Fixed a leaky faucet in a bathroom. Had to replace a cartridge and recaulked around the faucet area. Also as part of the service, inspected the water heater piping, labeled valves for homeowner reference and provided an estimate for requested additional work. Tech (Phillip) was very professional, called with estimated arrival time, prompt and very through on explaining all aspects of the plumbing work to be done.

Arrived within the promised time frame, very professional. Explained to me everything that they were going to look for and how. Once they found the issue, they explained how it could be fixed in a manner I could understand. They fixed it, showed me the bad parts and why the old parts were defective. They proactively checked all the toilets in the house for the same issue. Asked what else they could help with while they were there. That was really the only problem we were having, so I told them I would give them a call if anything came up. Very happy with the service, would definitely work with them again in the future.

Since this is a larger job, we wanted to get estimates from 2 or 3 companies before proceeding. Most companies will gladly provide an estimate without charging a fee for coming out to do the estimate. This company has decided that they will charge for estimates. We will happily pay the company with the best solution for our situation the amount necessary to resolve our issue. We won't pay someone to come out with a truck equipped to do the work right then (probably pressuring the customer to have the work done NOW) to give us an estimate. I can't say anything about the quality of their work - they may be just fine. We weren't willing to pay to hear what they had to say.

I was able to very promptly obtain an appointment within a few days; all details of trip billing if work not completed were explained by person scheduling the appt; plumber (Phil)?arrived on time and reviewed the situation that I had phoned about (the need to have some pipes under the kitchen sink re-routed) but then also asked to go into the basement where he found other work that he felt should be done. Phil was very knowledgeable?and explained?all options to remedy the kitchen sink problem.? In addition, he suggested that?we "bundle" the other problems he found in the basement into this job in order to get a better overall price.? We agreed to do so.? I had an Angie's Big Deal however I opted to take the discount they offered me for being an Angie's List member and saved the Big Deal for another plumbing job we have planned for this fall.? Overall, I would say that Phil did an outstanding job; all work was explained to me ahead of time, pricing quoted, all work completed in a timely fashion.? In addition, he went above and beyond to explain other details of our plumbing system to us (this is a new home for us) including use of the well, etc.? I am pleased with the work done. We will phone them again for our plumbing needs.

No mess, no problems or additional costs. Will definitely recommend and use again when needed.

Courteous young technician - respectful and cautious about the elements of a simple drain-plug repair and possible complications with the old plumbing that he may not have been able to handle. But it was an odd experience in terms of the "deal" and figuring out what one gets for the $99 for $200 worth of plumbing value. We had the parts. First the "assessment visit" was an additional charge - that would be reimbursed against any overrun on costs of the job. Second - the work finally completed for 99 dollars was 10 minutes to remove the old overflow drain cover and pop-up assembly; and inability to remove the old tub drain flange (10-15 minutes) and easily 15 minutes or more to work through the cost estimate lookups in his book and to fill out the paperwork - and then to fill out the invoice for our 99 dollar charge. Fair enough, but not $200 worth of work. We did then ask him in order to find some value of this visit - to tighten a toilet which was rocking on its base. The estimate for removal of the old drain pipes through the access panel came in at 700+ dollars which we elected not to do since there was danger of pipe/joint breakage and possibility we would have to tear up the floor and face additional major costs.

Very smooth Mike was excellent explained all that he was doing and stepped me through the whole process prior to starting. He finished the work in a timely fashion and then talked me through what was done and showed the results. There had not been a single drop of water out of that shower head except when it is suppose to. He cleaned up the site replaced the room to its previous condition. Mike was very knowledgeable and very professional.
Description of Work: Fixed constant drip from shower head. My only somewhat negative comment is that the voucher did not even cover half of the repair, I guess the nature of the plumbing world but people should be prepared to cut a check

Purchased a big deal coupon in advance and decided on Lake Cook Plumbing after reading many good reviews. The office was very responsive and also very professional in the initial call for an appointment set up. Everything was explained well verbally, was told what to expect, and was able to get the work scheduled in a very timely manner. The technician was very professional and took great care in showing respect for our property; such as putting shoe covers on after going outside each time, asking if it was OK to set paperwork down on a table. For the low water pressure problem we were given three options on how to solve the problem, and we were told in advance of the possible problems that could make the replacement for the cast iron faucet extremely difficult. This company is very upfront about their pricing, and no one would ever get any work done and then get sticker shock. The technician did an excellent job with the faucet replacement, and the boiler drain valve was a creative solution that was much better suited for our budget. A very thoughtful bonus was the technician showing us where all the emergency cut off valves were for the main lines and putting special tags on them.
Description of Work: The initial service call was for low water pressure on an outside water line that is used for the garden hose, while the technician was here we also had an old cast iron faucet that was in terrible condition replaced in a downstairs bathroom. After being given several options on what could be done and price points, we decided on a new boiler drain valve in basement for the low water pressure problem.

He diagnosed the problem and pointed out some other issues that would cost more money to fix. I felt trapped with having to make a quick decision because if I did nothing and wanted to get more estimates I'd lose my $49. service call charge. Next time I will try to call around first and see what prices I could get before actually having anyone out to the house. Perhaps more of a handyman other than a plumber.
