They didn't know what they were doing, could not find the pipe although they insisted they had tools to find the opening hole that we had dug/attached in the front yard to make it easy to route out in the first place. They also claimed they had a camera in the snake device so they could see exactly what they were up against, but they didn't have this as well. They spent hours in the yard, never found the opening to the pipe after a half of a days work. Told us they had to charge us more because they couldn't find the pipe, and then when they finally found it the next day, they couldn't unclog it, and nor could they tell us what the problem was because they had lied about their tool's capability (i.e. it did not have a camera like they claimed). In the end we spent over $300 for nothing, and they wanted to sue us because we wouldn't pay them more! Never hire these guys, they are worthless!

Description of Work: I used DMR Plumbing prior to joining Angie's List. I had a water leak under my vanity. They were recommended to me by my neighbor who had used them many times. They were on time for the appointment. Did the repair and cleaned up after themselves. I was very pleased with their work and would use them again.

.Saw DMR ad in the Hawthorn Woods Women's Club newsletter. Called DMR because a lower level ceiling was showing water damage. Owner stopped by with two young men who were introduced as his sons. Viewed damage and asked permission to take down a portion of the ceiling, Owner advised that water was coming from a hall bath above the room with the damaged ceiling. They stated that there were two problems - the wax seal under the toilet had to be replaced and a sink drain as well. They did not replace the drain but cut out the damaged portion and attached a black hose with clamps on each end. They suggested that the sink faucet was not working well and asked if we wanted it fixed which we did. Before making repairs, all three left and said that they "needed to pick up a lot of equipment." After returning, the recommended repairs were made in less than an hour. A bill was prepared and handed to me - $1,250. The total time on the premises for all three was about two hours and two of the replacement parts (hose and seal) were later priced at Home Depot for a total of $9. Three days later (New yYear's Eve,) the leak was again evident. The owner was called and replied that it wasn't leaking because of any of their work and that this was something new. I asked him to look which he did and then advised that the house had multiple plumbing problems. We were told to call him when we returned from out-of-town and they would begin by dropping a camera down the stand pipe as the water was probably coming from there and other existing problems could also be seen. The camera inspection would be $430 and then additional estimates would be made based on the results. Also said that it would likely be necessary to open up the walls in one of the upstairs bathrooms to complete the repairs. When we returned, another plumber was invited. It took him about fifteen minutes to make the surmize that the leak was in the walls and the culprit was likely the cold water input to the master bedroom toilet tank. Using a wrench, he removed the input pipe at the bathroom wall behind the toilet fixture. He was able to unthread the pipe and pulled it out; corrosion around the threads was obvious. Using another tool , he was able to reach the feed pipe in the walls and clean the fitting; then he installed a new pipe without cutting the walls or using any camera. The leak was repaired and the cost was 1/5 of the DMR charge. None of the work performed by DMR was related to the real problem. Odd, since the DMR owner told me 7-8 times that he had "been in the business for 40 years" and told us an equal number of times that "we had multiple problems." They were unable to identify the real problem let alone fix it - and all for $1,250. I now have the same feeling one has after having their pocket picked or falling for a driveway seal coat scam. The second plumber was Bob Freund of Freund Plumbing in McHenry.

Very unsatisfied. Work was satisfactory. BUT ... they quoted a flat rate that (we determined later) was many hundreds of dollars more than it should have been. Although the quoted rate seemed very high, we assumed (falsely) that the substantial labor time it would involve would account for that. But as soon as they got back from acquiring the pump (no, their van was not well stocked) they set to putting the pump in, and they were done in about an hour. Very expensive. His Angie's and BBB listings are bad. Practices seem deceptive if not downright dishonest.

Sump-pump repair was sloppy, but completed. Gas line repair was horrible! Work completed, gas company still detects gas leak. This company blames issue on gas company. Charges $185/hour for repair. Gas company even says this is a rip-off...but due to the emergency we had no other choice
Description of Work: Installation of sump-pump and repair of gas leak.
