 + -1 moreThe work was performed as expected, quickly, and professionally. We looked at many other systems before we choose Basement Flood Protectors. They were local to the area and felt the combination of good products and proximity to our house was a good bet. We are very satisfied with the system although the price for such a system is not inexpensive. If you plan on installing a home center special sump pump, think twice. You will probably end up replacing it or having it fail at the worse possible time. Choose a good system from a reputable company.
Description of Work: Installation of the Protector 4000 battery backup sump pump was performed. This included installation of a separate PVC ejection pipe and tie in of this pipe into the existing ground discharge pipe. It also has an alarm system to alert you to activation of the backup pump. We also had the rusting metal sump pit replaced with a plastic lid.

 + -1 moreBusy time for these guys after the record rainfall in early October. Talked over my requirements and concerns with the owner, Jeff, who was very knowledgeable and thorough. Their schedule was packed and I had the work scheduled for late Oct. They came, on time, and installed the system as quoted and promised. Hope I never have to use it!
Description of Work: Purchased and installed a high-end battery back up sump system. Replaced switch on existing primary pump and ran a second (back-up) sump line for the system to the outside. Bought their DualCon system with 2 batteries.

They also have a satisfactory status with the BBB. With the kind of work they do, that is outstanding. Their products do have a higher cost but with the extra warranty it is worth it.

 + -1 moreThe service was excellent; I was able to talk to Jeff the owner and discuss my problem with him. The price I eventually paid for the diagnostic ($175) was less than what he had quoted ($189). If I had required more detailed work, the cost of the diagnostic would have been deducted from the total price of the job. Roger was on time, polite, and let me watch him work. He explained what we were seeing on the camera, so that I understood what was wrong. He gave me the worst-case scenario plus an estimate of how much it would cost but also recommended not doing more extensive (and expensive) work, unless it turned out we needed it. They did not try to oversell or perform work we didn't need. The only reason I give them a ''B'' for responsiveness is that I had to wait a week before Roger could come with the camera. If I'd had a more serious backup, I probably would have wanted faster help. These guys were great and if I need more substantial sewer work, I'll definitely call them again.
Description of Work: There was a problem with our main sewer line in the basement, where sewage would back up and come out of a floor drain. The line had been rotted many times, and we had even had the sewer tile in our front yard dug up and replaced, but we continued to have backups. We wanted to finally discover what the problem was and fix it. After talking with Jeff the owner, Roger the technician came to the house and viewed our line using a TV camera. We could see that a part of the line had settled and a chunk of iron pipe had partially blocked the line. He was able to dislodge the chunk and move it further down, and the line has been flowing much better with no backups since. He did warn us that there appears to be a low spot in the line that may eventually need to be replaced and gave me an estimate for that. But since tearing up the concrete floor and replacing, the entire line would cost $1600 or more. He suggested leaving it alone unless we have more problems in the future. I appreciated that.

When I phoned in for a service request, the person immediately began to indicate that I may need a new sump pump & and began quoting sump pump and battery back up prices, going as high as over $1000.00. Because I was already upset due to a flooded basement, hearing that it may cause 100's of dollars, when no one had determined the problem was quite daunting. Therefore, when the technician arrived, I didn't know if I really needed another sump pump or not. Regardless, due to the polite air of the service technician, I paid for a sump pump and switch, although I was unaware that a switch was necessary until I saw the bill. I did mention that I didn't want to get a new sump pump until I contacted the previous owners, however, the service technician stated they probably were not responsible. I won't call this company first if I need service again, for fear of receiving high quotes.
Description of Work: My basement was flooded. The techician stated the switch was stuck & that I needed a new sump pump. I replied I just moved into my home & believed I should contact the previous owners to determine how old the sump pump was. He stated we'll see if the water decreases once he unstuck the switch; the water did decrease; however, the technician stated I needed a new ejector sump pump which I had installed by him. I don't know how to judge if this was a good price or not.

Description of Work: I SUSPECTED THAT MY SUMP PUMP IN THE CRAWL SPACE WAS NOT WORKING BECAUSE THE WATER LEVEL WAS HIGH. THE SERVICE PERSON INSPECTED MY PUMP AND DETERMINED THAT THE PUMP WORKED, BUT THE SWITCH WAS BROKEN. HOWEVER, HE SUGGESTED REPLACING THE ENTIRE PUMP SINCE IT WAS ABOUT 15 YEARS OLD. THE NEW PUMP CAME WITH A NEW SWITCH. HE TOLD ME THAT THE NEW PUMP WAS GUARANTEED FOR 1 YEAR AND THEY KEPT THE PAPERWORK ON THE GUARANTEE AT THE OFFICE.
