Overall, it was a pleasant experience. I called for a phone estimate, and the owner (Chris) asked me about our needs and the layout of our home. He made suggestions, and actually talked me out of unneeded equipment. I knew very little about alarm systems, and he patiently explained in detail the pros and cons of each security device and how the system worked. I thought about his offer, compared it with competitors, used Angie's list, and decided to hire him. We set up an installation appointment for a few days later, and he arrived exactly on time. He reviewed our needs once more before he began work, installed all the wiring and equipment, taught us how to use the system, and we did completed all the necessary paperwork. His time estimate was lower than expected, but he found that AT&T had not correctly wired our U-Verse system. Rather than call AT&T to come out and correct the problem and return to complete his installation, he figured out a work-around and completed the work. Of course this added to his estimated work time. I chose C&L because it is a small local company, had been in business for a while, and came highly recommended by a trusted individual in the home insurance business. Chris assured me if I ever needed any help and called his company, I would be speaking with him, not layers of corporate bureacracy. A problem with evaluating security systems is that one never knows how well they work until the house is burglarized and the monitoring people respond. This is a rare event, one which I hope we never have to test.

Chris came out to my office the same day I called him. I had been given his card by a friend whose entire family used C & L for their residential systems and their monthly monitoring. Chris was very professional and polite. He listened to my security concerns and prepared an estimate detailing his solution. I was absolutely impressed with Chris's bid. I called him back as soon as he had faxed it to me and approved. He was on-site the next morning and ready to work. He installed a complete alarm system with keypad, motion detectors, and glass-breakage sensors for $162.18! I chose to have C & L monitor the system as well for $21 monthly.
