I have worked with Tom on two jobs at my house in Libertyville. A master bath in 2019, and a hall bath in 2021. I have nothing but good things to say - very knowledgable, prompt communication, respectful of the house, excellent results, and generally pleasant to work with. I would absolutely recommend him.

Excellent job!!!! Tom Mordini contracting saved my day. I had a basement that was stuck from the 1950s that needed to be remodeled. Tom and his team came in and got it down to the studs. We had picked out exactly how we wanted to re-design the area and Tom was nothing but Helpful with creative ideas. The basement was finished much faster than expected. This is the second time that we have used Mordini General Contracting for major projects in our home. The first was a full basement renovation following a flood that resulted in significant water damage throughout. Following water remediation and demolition, we asked Tom (Mordini) to handle the full and complete remodel. He is extremely knowledgeable and experienced, and was able to provide sound recommendations based on our vision for the space. In some instances, he discouraged us based on potential long-term concerns (our home was built in 1953) but always had an alternative solution to help us meet a specific need. Tom is very hands-on in all aspects of the work and kept us informed every step of the way. He is punctual, thorough, hard-working and makes substantial progress on a daily basis despite being a small operation. His dry wall expert, Nelson, is a magician and the finished product is exceptional. We are thrilled with the outcome of our basement remodel and our three boys have spent the majority of their free time down there since the minute the work was completed. Based on that first experience with Tom and Mordini General Contracting, we recently hired him to complete a remodel of a full bath and repair of a second room. Mold remediation left our bathroom and part of one bedroom without a ceiling and insulation, and with damaged walls and cracked tile. Again, Tom came in completely remade the space. He worked closely with us on our selection of materials and made recommendations based on his decades of experience. As with any project, unexpected issues always come up but Tom takes the time to discuss those and provides options on how to deal with them. In both instances, once Tom started our project he remained diligent until that project was completed in a timely and professional fashion. Our initial “introduction” to Mordini Contracting was through Angie’s List and he immediately noticed the tremendously strong reviews and consistently high ratings year after year. Outstandingly well. Great service and always on time! The work quality was perfect. In the few cases where some cabinetry was incorrect they dealt with the dealer and resolved it with no involvement from me at all.

I am retired after 46 years being a consulting engineer in the construction industry and found Tom Mordini to be a stickler for details and quality of workmanship far above the standards in this field. He was most affable in his personal conduct and on time as to construction time lines. Highly recommend his firm for any general contracting work. He does have a gift of gab with some interesting tales of his life and work anecdotes. Most enjoyable fellow.

Mordini Contracting did a fabulous job. Tom Mordini was great to work with. He made suggestions, listened to our ideas and then blended everything together seamlessly. He told us he could get almost everything done in 3 months. We laughed. In 3 months, everything he promised - and more - was done and done beautifully. Even with minor changes, Tom managed to get things done on time. Tom and his crew were punctual and cleaned up as best they could every day. They made a difficult process as easy as possible. We would absolutely hire Mordini Conctracting again!

I hired Tom to do a full basement re-finish job and was extremely satisfied with his work. Tom is a true professional with expert knowledge of his craft. He oversaw the complete project with a detailed eye and an emphasis on the quality of work - which was outstanding! He coordinated both the painting and carpet sub-contractors seamlessly and made certain my wife and I were happy with the work. It was a large job but Tom handled it easily and I wouldn't hesitate to hire him again. I highly recommend!

Working with Tom was one of the best home improvement experiences we have had. I had read his reviews on Angie’s list and was impressed with the many positive reviews there . I am happy to add ours to the list. He was totally reliable, trustworthy, meticulous and , as a previous reviewer had mentioned, very attentive to keeping our dog and cat safe!! We are extremely pleased with how our bathrooms turned out and I enjoyed Tom’s humor and conversation each morning! I would definitely hire him for any future project we may have and give him a double thumbs up recommendation !

Tom was extremely professional and the work he performed was amazing. Throughout the remodel process Tom was extremely helpful in giving my wife and I recommendations/suggestions on how best to style/configure the remodel and on how to best maximize our investment. It was very good. Yeah he gave us his recommendations on what he thought needed to be done in our space and the timeline that would be involved for the actual project and next steps in terms of putting together an itemized quote and sending that to us within the next five business days.

I called and left a message with my name and phone number. Followed up at least twice and on the last call asked that they at least call me and tell they are too busy to take on new work. Never heard back. Not a good way to handle new customers.

Terrible. When I called, someone answered the phone with "What the **** do you want?" and then hung up on me. I called again, and they hung up on me again. Not sure what that was about, but maybe they should check if the person on the other end is a potential client before swearing at them and hanging up? I've never experienced such unprofessionalism in my life. Clearly, they won't be getting my business and I will never recommend them to anyone. Not that anyone is actually talking to me to give me a chance.

We are very pleased with all the projects that were done. Tom is extremely knowledgeable and was a great help in the planning stages. He is also very reliable, and his attention to detail is outstanding. Tom makes sure all the "little things" are done correctly, and even went the extra mile in taking care of a few things that weren't in the original contract. He respects your home, and makes sure everything is cleaned up when he's done. We will definitely be asking Tom to assist on future projects.

Tom is fantastic. I pretend I can do some work on my house myself and Tom entertained that notion. From the first time I met Tom and discussed what I had in mind, he was forthcoming with all the step involved. I got to do demo, so while he may have been able to do it faster than the 6 months it took me to do it, I did get to help out in that regard. But really, Tom knows his stuff. Best part about Tom compared to other contractors I've worked with is that Tom is hands on doing the work. He doesn't just stop by and inspect, he's hammer/drill/whatever in hand. He cares about quality. He does little things, for example, he was at Home Depot and remembered I was going to replace some canned lights with LED. He happened to be there and lights were on sale and asked if he should pick them up for me. Can't say enough good things about Tom. Happy to give more details if you contact me - as long as your project doesn't interfere with my next project I have in store for Tom :)

Overall, I can't recommend Tom to anybody who values communication or follow-through. He stated in both email and person that communication was huge, but I did not get a responses to my questions for days at a time, and even then it's only after several emails and/or phone calls. I had Tom come in for a quote. Through email he was extremely blunt, which I valued for the most part. He seemed no nonsense and right to the point. The morning of the quote he showed up on time and we had a great conversation. He offered ideas, and promised the quote in 5-6 days. I did not hear from him so I emailed on the 6th day (no response). I called on the 7th day (voice mail). I did receive an email back on the 7th day stating that it had been an awful busy week and he would do it in the next 2 days (Day 9 Total). That day came with no communication. I sent a follow up email asking when I should receive a quote (no answer). Finally today (Day 12 in total) I sent a note saying I needed to make a decision on contractor and needed a date as to when he would provide the quote so I can let the others know. He responded back to that in 1.5 hours with the below statement "Thank you for considering me for your project. Since I do almost all of the work myself and don't send out crews or sub-contractors plus knowing my schedule through July at this time I need to pass because I know I won't be able to do your project in a timely manner." Tom - It seems you completely missed the point. I just wanted the communication you said, on several occasions, was of utmost importance. Your peers that I invited out sent quotes extremely quickly and followed up almost to the point of being a nuisance. It was more appreciated then your radio silence i can assure you.

In addition to repairing the ceiling, they added a beam and some wooden columns, creating a reading nook at one end. They also fixed lighting fixtures and repainted the whole bedroom. The bedroom looks better than ever. All this and pleasant conversation too!

The work was done professionally at a fair price. I look forward to Tom helping with our next task on the wish list.
