They seem quite knowledgeable about trees. They're not always the cheapest but they do seem to know what they're doing.

Scheduling the visit by the Arborist for an estimate was done easily. The arborist arrived on time and was very knowledgeable, and we rather had an enjoyable discussion concerning my entire landscape. The job was completed in the agreed upon time frame and the removal of all debris was thorough. The lawn was not damaged at all despite bringing the heavy equipment in to grind the stumps. Overall, it was a good experience.

They will come back to treat stumps to prevent growth, and they will trim some trees they did not trim as agreed to.

Mr. Lutz advised his company could perform the work but could only come out when other work was scheduled in the area and would not make a special trip without additional charge. He could not give a date when he could come out. He said he would reply within a day or two with estimate but never heard from him again.

Schedule was set as whenever the provider got to us on their list, all dependent on weather. Estimate had been around 4 weeks, but it took closer to 6. That ended up being fine. Provider was knowledgeable and efficient in cutting the trees in a way that took care of the issue of limbs encroaching on the house while still leaving them with a nice shape and looking healthy. All work was completed in one visit and done quickly. We ended up being very comfortable that we had received good advice and appropriate amount of trimming.

They did a great job. The supervisor arrived to review/prepare an estimate when he said he would and he got the paper work to us in a timely fashion. The price was reasonable and they did exactly what they said they would do. He also called an left a message about the timing and status of the work.

We made an appointment for viewing the tree in front of my house. The man arrived on time and we talked about 1/2 hour. He looked at other trees around my house and told me about them even though it wasn't part of the deal (thank you very much). We prepared an agreement for him to remove the ash tree. At first he omitted a few details: no time limit and no indication of depth of grinding. Before I signed, we included a time limit (by the end of August), and a depth of grinding (10-12 inches below grade). Around August 13 he called me and said that it would be done on August 20. When I came home from work Aug. 20 I was happy to see the tree gone, a man working a grinder on the stump, and other men cleaning up the area. All of the large surface roots close to the tree were removed. Several smaller surface roots about ten feet from the former tree were not removed. The smaller surface roots come up to the surface but do not protrude above, and are 1 to 2 feet long. I wish they were gone but it is not a big deal. Overall they did a very good job. I cannot comment on whether the price ($2500.) was a good deal. I did not compare with other companies. I rated quality at B instead of A because of the smaller remaining surface roots.

The chemical used by The Davey Tree Expert Company damaged/destroyed our trees. I do not know if the damage is limited to the leaves or if the trees themselves will die. The non-sprayed trees are fine. Do not use The Davey Tree Expert Company. I filed a report with the Better Business Bureau and the Illinois Attorney General's Office. I am also investigating legal action.

They were professional from the estimating to all aspects of tree maintenance. The large trees were felled without any damage to flower beds, fences or the lawn. Most of my trees 60+ feet tall and large caliper.

The consultation was great. When the other proposals came in for the same work the price was way out of the ballpark. Davey - $5620 Woody's (Libertyville) - $2700 Autumn Tree - $2600 I definitely recommend getting multiple quotes if you have Davey come out. This particular quote was unreasonably high!

We were not home when they did the work. When we did get home we found the work completed and the site clean. We were very pleased.

The overall experience with Davey Tree Service was excellent. We bought some neglected property with several trees easily over 50 years old on it, and one that appeared to be beyond saving. We'd never called a tree service before, so had no idea what to expect. Mark Kline, from Davey, spent considerable time with us identifying the trees (we had no idea what most were) and assessing their condition. He seemed to really admire our 40' or 50' Sycamore and explained to us that the bark peeling is natural and the tree is perfectly healthy. We asked if the Oak in front could be saved, and he explained that because ants had taken over the trunk it was just a matter of time till the entire tree died. We scheduled the work and they showed up right on time. The workers double checked with us before beginning, especially in regard to whether we wanted the trunk cut into sections or hauled away. They explained we'd have to get a pretty big log splitter -- only afterward did I realize just how large the sections were. My wife and I had to leave, and they finished the work exactly as described unattended. I have no complaints, and plenty of firewood. The only reason I gave a B for price is because I have no idea whether $900 is fair or not, but it's $900 I have no regrets paying.

A rep from Davey arrived on time, was pleasant and courteous and gave me a reasonable price which I accepted. Service was performed in a timely manner.,

Showed up on time and went straight to work. Supervision was excellent and cleanup was very good.

Small townhome association had never before had tree service. Wasn't sure what to expect, but the consultant came out, walked the property with me, and submitted a proposal for all of the services our trees needed. Included one removal/replacement, fertilization, pruning, and Ash Borer treatment. All services were done promptly, all billing correct and as presented in the proposal. We will use this company again for future tree-care needs.

I did some research and the price was pretty comparable to other jobs I saw. I saw them do some of the work and it was dangerous work. They were definitely professional. They gave me some nice advice on what to plant next.

Davey has cared for our trees for many years and has done so admirably. In this case, they removed a 100-year-old silver maple that was dying and had become a threat to our house and our neighbor's house. (The remnants of the tornado that landed in Downers Grove brought down several large branches that turned out to be rotten inside - so we decided to have the tree removed.) Our lot is a standard suburban lot, with a free-standing garage, fence, etc. The Davey people removed the huge tree without any damage to the house, fence, or garage and they ground the stump down to below yard level. In October of the same year, they planted a new Freeman maple, with equal care. They are thoroughly professional, well-trained, and expert in their work. Additionally, their representatives have always been informative in their explanations of what needed to be done for the health of the trees and why. We will continue to use their services. The bottom line is that, while they may be a tad more expensive than some tree services, their knowledge and expertise make the slight extra expense well worth it.

Fine. Everything looks good, all debris were cleaned up and removed.

They raked up the whole yard. There was no mess. They were very friendly and answered all my questions. Patrick is wonderful .

They came out to give me advice on some of the trees in my yard. I had been told by other people to take down a sick tree in front of my house. Instead of being concerned about making the sale the arborist was very honest and said that, yes the tree will die sono but to let it be right now. Once it dies and needs to be removed and something else replaced I will be calling them to do the work. It is nice to deal with a company that is not out to just take money but actually stand by their work.

The arborist came out a couple of days previously to go over all of the work and explain what they would do. The crew arrived with the arborist explaining in detail the hedge and other trimming. They work was accomplished and all the mess removed.

They are personable and offer suggestions for your needs. They are prompt and we use them several times a year.

They did an okay job. They were busy, so scheduling was a little difficult. That was the only bad thing about them. I had to call to remind them about the appointment because they forgot.
