Vince and his team were extremely helpful and professional. Because we are a business we have to have work done on specific schedules and dates and Vince had no problem accommodating us. His team left the work site cleaner then they found it, were always friendly and able to answer any questions and the work is phenomenal. We have had no issues with the flooring yet and I don't expect to. Its a great look for our facility and I am extremely happy that we went with Vinces Tile. The work had to be spread out over several weekends do to our schedule and Vince's team was always prompt in the morning to get work done. I never saw them cut corners on material (mortar/grout/etc) and they were efficient. It would have taken me months to finish the amount of area they did and they never went off schedule or took more time than we expected. I would definitely recommend Vince to anyone looking to tile a floor and I will be using his services the next time I need a floor done.
Description of Work: Well over 2200 sq feet of tiling, cleaning, grout, leveling of the floor, molding around the floor.

If you need to have a job done in your home please consider Vince's Tile. I called Vince at the end of the year last year and told him what our needs were, and since he was busy we decided to wait a few weeks and were happy to do so. We scheduled a time for him to come to our home pretty quickly where he made his assessments and gave us a reasonable quote. Today he re-grouted and caulked where necessary our whole shower and Jacuzzi area. We also had the bathroom counter back splash re-caulked and part of our flooring. The bathroom looks great! He is a perfectionist and is honest when it comes to his work and I'm a stickler for that! The other two bathrooms had work to them which included caulking around the base of the tubes. Overall, he and his partner came on time, were professional, did their work precisely and we are happy. Have talked to others already to use his services. We are happy that we selected Vince's Tile and hope you are too!

I am so happy to find Vince. I had 2 other companies come here for an estimate, but I wasn't comfortable with either one. A friend recommended Vince to me. She assured me that she would never hire anyone else. I didn't know that Vince was on Angie's List ! He was at our house for 1 1/2 days. Both bathrooms (both ceramic tiled) now look NEW. (This house was built in 1929 !!) He took great care to leave the house without any signs of his work having been done. Vince has been the greatest, professional, competent expert on tile restoration.
Description of Work: Re-caulked and re-grouted both bathrooms. Repaired the kitchen tile backsplash.

Response from VINCE'S TILE
I made an attempt to get a hold of [Removed Member Name]'afew weeks after his review. But was not able to get a hold of him. He wrote a review on Angie's list over 11 months after work was completed. He claimed there was a small amount of caulk that needed to be redone. I finally got a hold of [Removed Member Name] June 20, 2016. I'd offer to make things right with [Removed Member Name] but he refused. I wanted to see what he was so unhappy with, but refused to let me come back to the job site. He wanted me to refund half of the cost of the job and that would make him happy. I would be more than happy to give him a Refund if I was able to see what he was so unhappy with. He claims he had another contractor redo the regrout and caulk? If I was able to see that it was redone I would refund the money. That's the only way he would say that this matter has been resolved. I honestly don't think that is fair. My main goal is to keep all my customers happy but there are some that you cannot please!

First, let me start by saying that the the tile and carpentry work that was done was excellent. That is the only good thing I can say about my experience. This contractor initially estimated that the work from start to finish would take between 2 and 2-1/2 weeks. Three months later, I still did not have a finished product. When he turned it over to me, I had a drain that was not functional in a newly installed shower. (He wanted more money to rod the drain.) He hung a pocket door without staining or finishing it, even though I had given him a sample of the stain seven weeks before the door was hung. His excuse was that he could not find the product. Within minutes, I was able to locate the same product online. Then, he wanted more money to stain the door. To install new floor tile, he removed the metal strip that crossed the threshold and put in a small piece of marble, but he did not bother to properly tack down the carpet. Again, he wanted more money to do that. Ultimately, I am going to have to pay others to complete the unfinished tasks he should have taken care of. I independently selected and paid for all the material (Italian ceramic tile, plumbing fixtures, light fixtures, granite) that was used. When I picked out the tile, he calculated the amounts to purchase. At the end of the project, he had not figured enough for the floor and I have several boxes of tile left over that was used for the shower walls and accent tile -- several hundred dollars worth of material. He usually did not work full days and would often disappear for hours at a time. (I later found out that he was soliciting other people in my building for work while he was supposed to be working on my project.) A general contractor should be well versed in all aspects of a job and have the ability to coordinate the schedules of multiple workers with the end result being a project that is completed in a reasonable amount of time and that is acceptable to the homeowner. That was not my experience with this contractor, and I would caution anyone who values their hard-earned money to think twice about hiring this person. ------------------------------------------------------ UPDATE AS OF 11.21.2012: Consumer contacted independent plumber to look at malfunctioning drain. Plumber tried to rout the drain for an hour to no avail. In fact, the tip of the router broke off. He said there's no way to clear it unless he takes up the floor. The only other way would be to come up through the downstairs neighbors' ceiling which would obviously be intrusive to them. Plumber suspects job was done incorrectly in that drain does not work & water pools at the bottom of the shower floor. To correct the problem - or even confirm the source of the problem - consumer will have to have the tile just installed torn out & re-done at great expense on top of the drain repair itself.
Description of Work: Demolition: Complete gut of small bathroom. Tile work: Floor and shower surround. Plumbing: All plumbing needed to install toilet, sink and faucets, all shower fixtures and drain conversion from tub to shower. Electrical: Installed new fans in master and guest bathrooms; installed new light fixutres in master bath; installed GFI outlets in master and guest baths; installed light switches in master and guest baths. Carpentry: Installed pocket door and frame and new woodwork in master bath.

I have made many attempts to try to please this customer. In her review she says that the tile work was excellent and the carpentry was excellent. I am a Tile contractor my company name is Vinces Tile. I'm very sorry that this customer is unhappy. The issues that she claims had nothing to do with my company.

It went very well. They arrived on time a little before 9. The old floor was completely up in a few hours. The closet collar was damaged so we did call the plumber to come out and remove it before tiling proceeded. The tile was all down by a little after 4 on the first day. We had made some idea on arrangement and Vince laid it out very well and asked for approval prior to setting. The grout was applied the next day. They arrived about the same time and were done a little after 11. Vince showed me how to apply sealant properly and provided me with a tile sponge for natural stone. Prior to the job he told me it was a 2 -2 1/2 day job; he was done in 1 1/2. I gave a B on price rather than an A because the price wound up $175 (20%) higher than quoted. Vince explained this when he showed me the invoice because of the rotted wood and the plywood that he had to obtain. Vince communicated with me very well on the progress of the job on everything except the increase in price. I did call Vince about a week after as I thought I saw a hairline crack in the grout. He came back promptly with the intent of regrouting. However, I was wrong, there was no crack. Vince was extremely nice about me calling him back, and examined the rest of the grout. He was very professional about this customer mistake.
Description of Work: Vince's Tile removed old tile in a 5 X 4 powder room, removed rotted flooring around toilet, built damaged area back up with plywood, applied durarock across entire floor, installed 12 X 12 slate tiles that we had previously purchased. Installed grout that Vince's tile provided. Other materials included with price were thinset, durarock, plywood, and new threshold.

Vince showed up on time. Intitially everything seemed ok. I've got to say---I'm not a novice to this. My dad was a union electrician who started buying and rehabbing property in 1985. I've been used as "free labor" for years. I've demo'ed out baths, installed tile, installed tubs, sweat pipe, hung drywall, painted, installed roofs, toilets---you name it. I've probably done it. I also single handedly rehabbed twenty-one of my parents properties between 2005-2010. Of course, all were in St. Louis so I don't have my regular cache of trusted labor guys around here. Like I said--everything seemed to go ok. I thought it was odd he was spending so much time measuring such a tiny space. I informed him that this would be 12x12 ceramic. Nothing fancy. No special inlays--designs--etc. In my experience you should be able to eyeball this and provide a price. But, whatever. Maybe he is a stickler on the exact square foot pricing. So, he goes on to explain how skilled his guys are, how they seal the corners (that is what all experienced tile guys do--in fact, you are to seal ALL tile and grout), that they use Durarock(again, that is what you are supposed to do). And then he hits me with a price of $12,600---for the ONE tiny bathroom. For tile only. My mouth hit the ground. That was insane. Needless to say---we did not hire him. We hired a contractor--who has done work for many, many friends--who uses union tile guys-- to gut both bathrooms (tile, vanity, tub, shower door, etc) for $8,000 labor for both baths. Same guy is also doing extensive work expanding door ways, building custom cabinets--etc. Even he laughed out loud when I told him the bath price. So, my suggestion? Get at least three bids!
Description of Work: Based on reports had Vinces tile out to provide an estimate for gutting two extremely small bathrooms (2feet x 3 feet and 3 feet x 4 feet). Just the tile. Thats all. One had a tub surround (no tile) and a newer tile floor (installed 1986) the other had older tile tub surround (more labor intensive to remove) and the same newer tile floor. He provided the price to demo out and replace *tile only* ONE bathroom---the one with the tub surround.

Vince came out the day after I called him and performed the work that same day. Before he began, he told us what he would charge and carefully explained what could go wrong in removing and relocating tile this old. The work was successful and the charge for the time spent was very reasonable.
Description of Work: 120 year old fireplace tile surrounding the firebox needed repair and replacement. Duplicate tile could not be found, therefore, the delicate job of removing antique tile from one location on the fireplace that could be concealed was necessary to replace the missing or broken tile.

Vince was very knowledgable about tile and offered several options to get my tub surround repaired and looking good. He and his assistant Dan were on time, easy to talk to and did a good job. At the finish, they had me get into the tub and closely inspect the whole area while they held a light, to make sure everything was done to my satisfaction. The only complaint I have is that the old grout removal process created a lot of dust. Vince did a good job of cleaning up the bathroom, but after they left I noticed a film of fine white dust all over the adjoining rooms.
Description of Work: Redid all the grout on ceramic tile in entire tub area and replaced several loose and broken tiles with spares that I provided. Removed old tiles on window sill in tub area and replaced rotten underlayment with new green board and set new, larger tiles with quickset. Caulked all the corners and edges.

We were very happy with Vince's grout work he did for us. He turned a bad situation into a nice experience dealing with his professionalism and timely work. He gave us great ideals for future tile projects and helpful hints on tile care. We plan to have him back for our future tile projects.
Description of Work: Called Vince and told him about the leak coming from the upstairs bath shower leaking to kitchen ceiling. He came right over and found the trouble spots in the shower grout, inspected all our baths for problems, gave a reasonable bid, we accepted and he started work the next day. He is quite the tile professional with a lot of experience. He is very friendly, caring about detail, cleans up great after himself. We found him to be a very friendly person who really cares about the quality of his work. We wish we had known him 3 years ago for all of our bathroom tile installation. We plan to call Vince again for all of our future tile and grout needs.

Vince answered my call immediately and set up an appointment to meet with my tenant to see the problem. He called me with the price, which I thought was reasonable, so we set up an appointment to have the work done. He arrived during the time scheduled, did an excellent job, and arranged to have me drop off a check for his work. Luckily, he arrived to pick up the check while I was still there so I was able to meet him. He's friendly, informative, and a good worker. He offered to do any other tile work, caulking, or other handyman work I might need in the future. I will definitely call him back.
