Prairie Path worked creatively with me to design a functional and beautiful grill counter in a tight, awkward area of our back garden. They were clean, professional, prompt, and performed excellent quality work, from design to finish.

Paver Care took up all pavers, regraded the foundation, and reset the pavers. They also resanded and sealed the pavers. We now do not have standing water when it rains.

The workmanship itself was excellent. The masons who work for Prairie Path are top notch. They were always on time and they always put in a full day of work. The quality of workmanship on the project was also top notch. What soured us on Prairie Path were our dealings with Marty Halm, the owner of Prairie Path who was also the person directly supervising our project. The initial process of getting going was difficult because it was difficult to get a hold of Marty to go over design ideas and the like. The actual initial design was done by Dylan, a landscape architect who works at Prairie Path. Dylan was a pleasure to work with. Dylan was also the person who came up with the plan for the plants and trees that were to be planted. Marty was our overall contact person during this project. Samples for selection of material were slow in arriving and did not come when Marty said they would. I had to ask several times for the samples. We began wondering if the samples would ever have come had we not been asking for them constantly. When they finally arrived we selected the samples quickly and work began quickly. However, my wife and I were quite specific about the look we were going for and the type of fireplace we wanted. We even provided example pictures for this reason. Nonetheless, the fireplace that they initially began building had a very traditional look. Fortunately, my wife and I caught this and we were able to get it changed appropriately. Nonetheless, it speaks to the fact that we were not listened to when we originally spelled out what we wanted. Towards then end of the project, it was actually impossible to get a hold of Marty to go through the final items on the punchlist. I tried calling, texting, and email and would get no responses. I finally called the office and spoke with Dylan who got everything done. The project itself was supposed to take about 6-7 weeks, but ended up taking about 14 weeks. Some of this was due to apparent delay in receiving certain materials, which we were not informed about, but some of this was just delay. Overall, I think with regard to final product they did an excellent job. The patio looks beautiful and the workmanship is excellent. However, I did not at all enjoy the process of getting there. I also think that for this level of expense, most other companies would have been far more responsive.
Description of Work: We had a complete redo of the hardscape in our backyard. This involved entirely removing the old stone patio and doing a whole new patio with a large fireplace, built in grill, and built in stove. This was an extensive project.

We had our patio done 3 years ago and had no complaints, but they have not been responsive to our calls regarding our 4 year warranty on workmanship, and we have been trying several months. We have friends who told us they had the same issue. They also lost our estimate for our scheduled power wash and wouldn't put us back where we were on the schedule. Customer service was not what we had hoped.

We decided to use Prairie Path Pavers again because of the fine work they did on the original patio. The crew showed up on time ready to work. The crew was professional, cleaned up the jobsite each day, finished on time and did a wonderful job of tying in the new with old patio . And to top it off, Prairie Path had the lowest cost per square foot of any of the Unilock listed contractors! I highly recommend this company to anyone looking for a quality hardscape contractor for any size project.
Description of Work: We had Prairie Path Pavers install a Unilock block patio/walkway of 375 sq. ft. in 2013 and they did a great job. We decided to expand patio with a 21' x 12' addition.

Perfect Job on the Brickpavers! Downspouts work has helped with drainage issues and the work was completed as agreed to. Although I would have preferred to have a drywell installed so water does not exit on the top of the yard causing wet spots.

We received 3 quotes and thought Prairie Path would be the most expensive because they were the most professional. They handed us their insurance information and warranty on their first visit. Chris immediately picked up our design thoughts and emailed us a quote the next day. Amazingly they were lower than the other two so we immediately accepted. Chris sent us a rendering of the deck - it was like he read our minds. We already picked out the stone and when Chris asked when they can start my husband half jokingly said "tomorrow." 7:00 the next morning, 3 fellows were out taking the old deck down. Those same 3 fellows showed up every day for 10 days, even worked in the rain. And on the tenth day we had a beautiful deck with curved staircase and ramp. And as workers go, they were the nicest. Always put a tarp under the truck so it would not drip any oil on the driveway. Always cleaned up before they left. Even laid strips of sod at the end of the job to cover all the areas bared by the build. The project manager, Chris showed every other day to make sure it was going OK and check the plans. My husband and I are absolutely thrilled with the job and are already thinking of another project. We won't bother getting estimates, we will just call Prarie Path. I would recommend to anyone thinking of Unilock that they go to Aurora where they have several different layouts built. That is how we got our ideas.
Description of Work: Removed old wooden deck, old cement stairs under the deck and installed a beautiful Unilock stone deck with rounded steps and ADA ramp. Additionally we had railroad ties running along the length of ourhouse to the street so we also wanted a new rataining wall.

The whole experience was very pleasant. They started the job as scheduled, the workers showed up early in the morning, proceeded to install a gravel base and then a sand setting bed, then installed the pavers. They did all the work and had cleaned and swept everything up before leaving, all in one day. You would never know we had work done except seeing the finished product. They were truly a good company to work with and we will use them again in the future.

Extremely pleased with the work done by Prairie Path. Marty and his landscape architect Dave were very helpful in designing a solution to dealing with a complex drainage problem around my backyard. They put together a master plan with some great ideas and then managed the whole project, including assisting my concrete guy on the driveway.. It turned out beautifully, and (knock on wood), so far so good on the water side. Only very minor complaint- a little slow going in the early stages on response time, but I was also tapping into them in peak season. These guys put a lot of work in though and were always willing to the extra mile through the process, including even talking to the cranky neighbor who was miffed about the drainage plan, but talked him off the ledge. I initially thought the price was a little high, but after I realized the work out in and got some other bids, they were in market range... and worthwhile. A definite recommend!

It was a great experience. They were very professional, the work was exactly as described and the cost was reasonable. Marty Helm & Chris Dara were great, quick to respond on questions. We have a small backyard which we wanted a comfortable outdoor space and the patio we were hoping for is the one they delivered. We recommend them highly, would use them again.

Marty was very professional from the beginning estimate to the final piece of our project. He was prompt when we met at the building site for the estimate and returned phone calls quickly when I had questions. The work that he and his team did looks great. Our company owners are very happy with the results. We had Prairie Path build a large retention wall using brick pavers. I was worried that the project was bigger than their typical projects but the company came through with solid, good work. Their bid wasn't our lowest bid but I choose them because their estimate was more professional than my other ones and I was worried about water drainage. Marty addressed all my concerns. He also worked with another contractor who fixed the asphalt section of our project as soon as the retention wall section was done so that our company didn't have to wait. Everything flowed together. I would definitely recommend this company to a friend.

The Prairie Path Group was recommended to me by an interior designer. Initially I met with Erinn who apparently does the landscape designs for the group. We walked the property and discussed my vision for the project. This initial meeting went well. Erinn was personable an easy to work with. The problems began when we met with Marty, who is the son of the company owner. He is actually listed on the website as "owner and president of Prairie Path Pavers". Marty, apparently, is in charge of the company's hardscape projects. I went over the project with him in detail. He requested that I send him a plat of survey which I emailed to him. Weeks went by and I did not hear from him. I then called him. When he answered he did not initially remember me or the project. I was a little surprised because this was not a small job. With some prompting he later remembered the project. I believe he then apologized and said that he would work on it and get back to me. Again, weeks went by and no word from Marty. I called the company number and the person who I talked to said she did not have my project on file. She said she would have Marty call me back. Unbelievably, when Marty called me back 30 minutes later he again told me that he did not remember my project. When I reminded him this time he replied, "oh yeah, you are the guy with the Frank Lloyd Wright house. Now I remember." He then told me he had been really busy and that he would review everything the next day and let me know if he was going to "take a pass" on the job. Not surprisingly, I did not hear back from Marty. For the record, I do not live in a Frank Lloyd Wright house. Let me just say though, that if Marty and Prairie Path can choose to "take a pass" on a six figure job to landscape what they think is a house designed by arguably the greatest American architect in history, then just imagine how they will treat you and your project. Do yourself a favor and find a qualified landscaper in the area who is respectful of your time and appreciative of your business.
Description of Work: Prairie Path Group was brought in to provide a complete hardscape and lanscape proposal for a 1/2 acre property with a preexisting inground pool. This included removing an old pool deck and replacing it with pavers, creating a paver patio for an outdoor kitchen, creating a paver walk to the house, irrigation, lighting and drainage.

I am sorry that (removed member name) and our company could not arrive at an arrangement. I decided that it was a job that I did not want to pursue due to inconsistencies and the owner wanting to buy all the materials on his own. I had the "sense" that there would be very little profit. I apologize for the poor service and should have been clearer and more communicative. I did drop the ball but after reading (removed member name) remarks am glad that I tool a "pass" I find the review very childish and in return have added my own childish remarks.

They did an excellent job. The job went very well. They came out and laid out a design. They showed up on time and had all the material. They had plenty of the product we picked out. It was on the weekend of Easter and they even worked on Good Friday. They came back on that Saturday and finished up. They were very neat. They completed the job as they said they would and they cleaned up. They did everything we asked. The quality of work was done very well. The price was a little higher than others we had looked at.

They did the work using the materials we had already. We did not use their materials. That was nice and most of them wouldn’t do that. They took out the patio and set it up so that we could have fresh rock put in. They put the edging and took out the cement edging we had and put up wall stones. They created nice framing for us. They also finished the job we had from last year which had to be planted in the season. They did the planting. They made our down scouts underground and in the back and one in the front. The work done was phenomenal. I had bad experience with landscapers so I hired them. I was working with a landscaper last year, who charged me for ideas; though I didn’t like the ideas. They tried to charge me again. I was just continuing until I got a landscaper that I liked. I actually called Prairie Path Pavers to do concrete but they don’t do concrete. While they were there, they drew up a sketch for the front of the house. That was actually the kind of thing that we were looking for. Our landscaper was very pushy and was trying to bring in plants and take down trees that we wanted to keep. They were not listening to what we wanted. But Prairie Path Pavers were phenomenal. She took into consideration of what we wanted. She took ideas on what we wanted. They were giving me free plants and considered my ideas. They were very prompt. Her suggestions and ideas were what we wanted. She took the time to look at the things. She is very consciousness about the whole thing. She listed to what I wanted without going beyond the budget. She is just very great customer service person. The guys who work for her were fast. They finished the work in one day. They were here from 8 in the morning till 5 in the afternoon. They are well priced. They were wonderful and pleasure to work with. I would use them in the future.
Description of Work: I used Prairie Path Pavers for landscaping in June. They redid the patio for us. They took the trees down and did the backyard and the front yard planting. They took down the front evergreen trees. They planted it in the front and the back. They put drains underground in the front. They replaced pipes.
