NEW ERA KITCHENS & BATH

Overall, the job went very slowly. We worked with Deb, the designer, and picked out all our stuff. That part went very well and we liked Deb a lot. Jim, the owner, is somewhat difficult to communicate with, but he has good ideas and knows what he is doing. The work was supposed to take a couple of months but ended up taking four. We were over budget by a lot, because problems related to our old house cropped up (can't blame that on New Era). The people who actually did the work were new to the company and I don't think they were up to the level that we expected. One young man in particular needed more supervision, was very slow, made mistakes and tried to cover them up. We had several things we weren't completely pleased with that we asked Jim to fix, and he was responsive, but in a couple of instances he dug in his heels and said his way was best and he wasn't going to do what we asked. In the end, we have a large, attractive bathroom that is functional and, so far, fairly trouble-free, though we have a lot of cracked grout that must be fixed. New Era promises to do a review of the their work in 6 months and fix any problems that have arisen, so we will take care of that then. A couple of problems arose related to the plumbing code that I think they should have known about in advance and warned us about, but they didn't, and we ended up having to spend thousands of dollars that we had not budgeted to get up to code. I wish we had been advised about this earlier.

New Era Kitchen basically lived here for the time that we had this project done. They were at work early and stayed late. We are very happy with the results. The whole crew was friendly and they worked professionally with no horsing around. They are simply great people.

THIS JOB TOOK A FULL YEAR TO COMPLETE FROM THE TIME THE CONTRACT WAS SIGNED. NEW ERA MUST HAVE A TERRIBLE RAPPORT WITH THEIR SUPPLIERS. THEY PLACED AN ORDER FOR AMERICAN STANDARD PRODUCTS AND TOLD US 6 WEEKS LATER THAT THE ORDER WAS NEVER PLACED BY THEIR SUPPLIER. AFTER DELAYING OUR JOB FOR ABOUT 2 MONTHS WITH ORDER PROBLEMS, THEY NEVER BOTHERED TO CHECK THAT THE CORRECT ITEMS WERE SHIPPED. THEN THEY TRIED TO TALK US INTO TAKING THE INCORRECT ITEMS TOTALLY DESTROYING THE DESIGN THEY CAME UP WITH! THEY BASICALLY WORKED ON OUR BATHROOM AS ''FILLER'' WORK. ONCE THEY STARTED, THEY TOOK OVER 2 MONTHS TO FINISH A 3-4 WEEK JOB. THEY WERE EXTREMELY POOR COMMUNICATORS AND WHEN YOU DID TALK WITH THEM, YOU HEARD NOTHING BUT EXCUSES. I PAID TOP DOLLAR AND RECEIVED VERY AVERAGE WORK WITH VERY UNACCEPTABLE SERVICE. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THEM TO ANYONE!
