After leaving 3 messages they finally returned our call, stating that they were really busy and that they would be by shortly to check the roof and give us a repair estimate. That was about 2 weeks ago and we have still not heard from them. We have given up on Ciraulo and are now contacting other contractors.
Description of Work: Ciraulo & Sons put a new roof on our home about 3 years ago. Recently we discovered that some animals had made some holes in the roof trying to get into our attic. Since Ciraulo had been the roofer who put the roof on we natually called them back.

Response from Ciraulo & Sons Construction, LLC
I did speak to Robert on this matter and did tell the homeowners that we would get to it. I did look at the needed repairs and we would always service their needs but could not get to it yet. Mean while this response came through which is fine if they are going to use another contractor. I usually will make these repairs at no charge charge even though it is not our responsibility under the warranty because it usually will only take us a few minutes but I like to wait until we are in the area. I do find it funny however that these folks found us through Angies List as a member and we completed their roof two years ago and they never took the time to give their experience with us which I assume was fine. Now they take the time to give me a bad response which I think is kind of self-serving. I will make the repairs if they want to call me back, after all it is our roof. Peter Ciraulo

Pete was outstanding, he came out to give me an estimate and checked the whole roof and its areas for the most appropriate picture of the repairs I needed. He explained to me in detail what was needed and what was not needed. He was different from other contractors who just take a tape measure for home inspection. I appreciated that. He was honest and fair in cost to all my repairs and his crew were courteous and done a excellent cleanup upon completion. My roof is the envy of my neighborhood. I would recommend him to anyone! This company is the real deal!
Description of Work: Roof replacement. I had my roof and back porch repaired by this contractor.

We were very satisfied with Pete's professionalism both in quoting and doing the job itself. He stopped by several times each of the three days it took to do the job to answer any questions we may have had. His crew was thorough and worked continously through the day and into early evening. They straightened up the job site each night and did a thorough job of cleaning up the area when all the work was completed. We would definitely recomend them, in fact our neighbor had them do their roof after seeing the type of work Pete and his crew did.
Description of Work: We had Pete's company and several other companies quote on our job. Pete's company was subsequently given the job to remove our original roof and replace with architectural roofing, repair some rotted fascia and replace our gutters. He was prompt in quoting and providing samples for both roof and gutter. Pricing was competitive although not the lowest. Pete explained in great detail what was needed and how the job would be done. He started on time and his crew led by Leo did an outstanding job, working long hours on very hot days. They took great effort not to damage our deck furniture and foundation plantings as they worked for three days.

They came out right away. We were going away for the weekend so he came when we weren't here and because storms were coming and we had a bit of exposed roof, he put caps on so we wouln't take on water before we could get it fixed. Unfortunately, we didn't get his message and went with another roofer whose estimate was twice his. This is the guy you want to help you fix your home. Prices are reasonable and he really cares about his customers. Never did ask for any $ for those caps (other roofer quoted us $100 to put them in) - just said it was easy to do and the caps were in his car and he knew wheather was coming!! Don't find many like that out there anymore . . .

Pete and his team fixed the leak in my roof and did not charge me, I am now a customer for life! Pete is a true pro and concucted himself in that manner each time we spoke. It is hard to find good folks like Pete and his team these days. Please use Pete for all your future roofing needs, I know I will.
Description of Work: I called Pete to get an estimate to fix a reoccuring problem that I had another roofing company attempt to fix last fall. The other company did a poor job so I called Pete help fix a leak in the roof. Pete came out as promised to look at the issue. While his crew was up on the roof they saw what the problem and FIXED IT AT NO CHARGE TO ME. He said they spend about 30 minutes to fix the issue the other company left behind.

Pete is an excellent communicator, and I am an over communicator. This helped the job go well. During the estimate phase of the job, we emailed each other versions of the contract until we both felt it covered everything necessary to get started. The first step of the job was the roof tear-off, followed by building the roofing deck. Several places needed help to ensure that the deck would be sitting on a solid foundation structure, and would shed water correctly. Thanks to Pete's experience in new construction, nothing phased him - he knew exactly how to handle everything that came up. Following the deck, they built the flashing, underlayment and roofing, Then, installed the windows. Next came the siding, Due to winter weather issues, the window trim came next, and the gutters and downspouts followed. I then reviewed the job and made a list of open items - Pete followed up and addressed them all. Several of my neighbors have commented on the beautiful job Pete and his company did. I'm very glad I had the dormer siding and windows done along with the surrounding roof. This means that I know that the whole package is water tight, and all of the work is under the same warranty.
Description of Work: * Complete tear off of a roof and porch roof with three layers of shingles and two dormers that span the entire length of the house. Bottom layer of shingles was cedar shake. * Replaced support boards in several places where rot or damage made that necessary. Smoothed out roof line to allow water to shed better. * Complete deck build for all roof surfaces (which were previously only slats due to the shakes). * Build flashing, in aluminum on the angles and in copper at the base of the dormers and at the chimney. * Replace 7 windows of varying sizes in the dormers with Andersen windows with red oak interior frames. * Build matching red oak window surrounds and window sills with bulls-eye corners for a vintage look. Install brass hardware window handles. * Install aluminum soffits, gutters and downspouts * Install Craneboard insulated siding on the dormer walls. * Purchased increased labor warranty of 20 years instead of standard 7 years. * Any exposed nails in the roof sealed with high tech polymer (not tar or cauck)

Great overall experience. Good communications by Pete the owner. Work was done on date scheduled and in time promised. Excellent quality workmanship & clean-up. It was my misfortune to wait until material prices had peaked due to the cost of petroleum based products. Try to time your purchase when oil prices are low.

E-mailed for estimate during February. Pete came to the house and did a thorough examination, e-mailing an extremely detailed contract within a couple of days - very re-assuring to have as a newer homeowner in my first house. Pete was easy to reach and responsive throughout. Once the had finally melted, Pete's team came to the house and started work. They were professional - extraordinarily so, in fact. There was none of the things I'd feared in hearing about other roofing jobs - no loud music, no yelling, no smoking - just the constant sound of hammers. The project took only two days, with a thorough cleanup each day. (The cleanup was so good I wasn't sure if they were finished until they towed away the dumpster). Pete described thoroughly the extra costs that might be involved if boards had to be replaced. A few did have to be replaced, as expected, but less than . Pete was very careful not to pass along any unexpected charges (e.g. the permit cost had gone up), so the final total had no surprises, and we were able to sign everything off (including waver of Lien) the morning after the work was complete. In all, an excellent, no-surprise, no-stress experience. And the roof looks great.
Description of Work: New roof of architectural shingles for small bungalow, plus for 2 1/2 car garage. Several damaged boards had to be replaced (though significantly fewer than I was expecting)

It went great through the on-time completion of the project: Pete was prompt to respond to questions, showed up each morning to say hello and returned several times throughout the day to check on progress - and my wife and I have been very pleased with the way the roof looks both from a distance and up close. However on 5.03.10 we noticed a lot of moisture in the attic around the exposed chimney, and what appears to be light coming through between one face of the chimney and the roof, which to our untrained eye seems kind of like a bad thing. I called Pete that day, then again the next day, sent him an e-mail, no response. I plan on sending out a certified letter to him if this review today doesn't alert him to our concern about the roof. If he can remedy the situation I'll certainly revise my review to be my much more positive initial impression of his work. Edit: as of this moment an independent chimney expert has informed me that Ciraulo used standard window and door caulk to finish the flashing to our chimney, which as this guy says is "garbage" and likely causing the light/air leak in my attic.

I called the company late in the afternoon and later in the evening Peter called me back. We talked at length about my observations and what they could mean. Peter agreed that he would come and take a look. He arrived the following week (on time!) and looked over the situation and advised that it looked like a poor drywall taping job instead of a roof problem. He put a hole in one of the affected areas and, not seeing any evidence of moisture, decided that further cutting of the ceiling was unnecessary. Peter also did a quick look at the roof (it was snow covered and so he could not get on it) and noted a failing gutter. All in all I'm very happy with this visit and to have Peter's expert advice (and especially to know that I don't need a new roof!). Peter was very honest, professional, and listened to my concerns. He talked at length about what could be going on -- spent about an hour at the house. And wouldn't take any $$ for his time. If we need something like roof work in the future, we will definitely call him! Thanks Peter!!
Description of Work: In our house that we moved into in late September 09, I noticed that on the upper level rooms where the wall meets the ceiling the drywall and paint are crumbling and bubbling. Futhermore, drywall tape is separating near the top of the ceiling. We have very high cathedral ceilings and this problem is occurring in multiple rooms. I called Peter Ciraulo because I thought there was a roof leak or moisture problems.

He arrived early the next day and performed the work quickly. Upon completion he called me to tell me that because the job was so small he wasn't going to bill me, which was great. Also, he told me that while the front roof was in good shape because it had fiberglass shingles, the top of the roof was in not so good shape because they were asphault shingles and in his estimation deteriorate more quickly. He said that it may need to be replaced in two years, so we should call him at that time and ask him to come and inspect again. He also quoted me approximate amounts to reroof the house. I was very pleased with his professionalism, timeliness and all of the detailed information he gave me. I will definately call him in two years to inspect the roof and should it be required, have his company perform the work.
Description of Work: We recently bought a house and the general inspection had found 10-15 shingles that need replaceing, a rather small job. Peter Ciraulo was the only roofer who didn't try to make work by trying to convince me that additional cosmetic work was required. He gave me an estimate of $150, and said he replace the shingles and inspect the roof the next day.

With every rainstorm a significant amount of water was leaking into the interior wall cavity of a corner of our living room. Before we called Pete, we had 5 other roofing companies come out to make an assessment of the situation. Each had a different opinion ranging from "I don't see anything wrong with your roof" to "We need to tear off the entire south facing deck just to be sure". Two of them didn't even go up on the roof to examine the problem. When I called Pete, he was the first roofer who actually carefully listened to my description of the problem. He came out the next day as promised and carefully inspected the situation visually from the ground as well as going up on the roof to get a closer look. He was extremely knowledgable about roofing and picked out the problem almost instantly. He quoted a very reasonable fee for the service and was out within a few days to fix the problem. Two days after the fix we had over 2 inches of rain come down and the interior of our home was dry as a bone. Fantastic service. Very knowledgable. Very honest. Pete will be my roofer of choice for as long as he's in business. Great service!

Overall, we couldn't have asked for a better experience. Pete was honest, informative and professional. His crew was hard-working, skilled and did an outstanding job. Pete's presence throughout was a regular thing; he was attentive to his crew as well as to us.

Our home inspector told us that our roof on the 10 year old home we were buying needed a new roof. We found Pete through Angie's List and he did not disappoint us. Pete was responsive and came out right away to check our old roof, give us an estimate and answered our questions about the various brands of roof. His estimate was extremely reasonable and was the lowest of the three estimates we obtained. Although he told us that he wouldn't be able to do the job for a couple of weeks, we asked if he could do it earlier because my husband's sister and family were coming into town. We wanted them to see our new house with a new roof and Pete found a way to accommodate our request. He and his crew were professional and we had neighbors tell us that the crew worked hard all day on the roof. We are pleased with the results and would definitely use them again!

We collected estimates from about 5 roofing companies. Pete was the first we talked to and we thought his quote was high, until we talked to the others! He wasn't the cheapest, but it was a fair price. He came back a couple times to drop off samples and answer questions. Basically, we asked his option about what the other roofers proposed and he gave us good answers about whether the work was required or not. We felt that he would do the work that needed to be done and not propose anything additional just to make more money. We have a red house with a red roof and I wanted to change all that red. He helped us find a great color shingle that complimented the red without being overwhelming! His start date was delayed a bit due to the weather, but once they started, the guys were here at 7am and worked a full day, finishing in about 3 days. His crew handnails all the shingles, which is good as the roof base is 1x6 boards and a nailgun could just nail into the space between boards. His crew cleaned up the site every day and did minimal impact to our landscaping. Pete is a great guy, does excellent work, and for a fair price.

Great experience. Pete was extremely helpful when we were trying to decide what needed to be replaced. He had good recommendations on roof vent placement, and whether to use architectural or three-tab shingles. (He said that we'd be OK with 3-tab since you can barely see our roof from the street, and we appreciated his honestly in this regard, as he'd make more money and have an easier time with the installation if we went with architectural shingles. We ultimately chose architectural because the price increase was very small (only $400 extra) and we liked the color choices better. But I appreciated his honestly; it's not often that a contractor tells you NOT to do an extra service / feature.) It probably took four weeks or so for Pete's crew to come out and do our roof after we signed the contract, but Pete told us up front that it would be a few weeks. It was a very rainy May and I think that slowed him down more. He called on Friday to say that they'd be out on Monday. They showed up on Monday morning, right on time. It was a rainy day so they waited till the big storms passed, then they only tore off the portion of the roof that they could immediately re-shingle, in case it started raining again. They kept the gutters up because it was supposed to rain more that night. They got the roof done in between the rain drops and stayed till about 6pm to finish. (The job would've been done by 3, Pete thought, if we had good weather.) I appreciated that they stayed late to get everything done. The foreman was helpful, knowledgeble and friendly. The crew worked hard - I was very impressed to see that many people on my roof running around and working hard. The roof looked awesome. They even used copper flashing (at no charge) around our chimney, because they had some leftover from another job and Pete thought the color would look nice with our shingles and brick - which it did. My husband is very particular about home improvement projects and he was very impressed with the quality and workmanship of the job. He especially liked that Pete's crew hand-nailed the roof. Our roof is made of 1x8 boards, not plywood, and has gaps in between each board - typical of 1950s construction. If the roofer used a nail gun, they wouldn't be able to feel if they missed a board and nailed into the void space. Hand-nailing lets the roofer correct that mistake immediately to make sure our shingles are nailed to the board! His gutter crew worked great, too. They showed up on time on Tuesday and dropped off the materials, then left because it was supposed to be a rainy day and they didn't want to take our gutters down in the rain. They came back on Wednesday and got all the gutters replaced. They look really good. We just had a really big storm last weekend - lots of rain and damaging winds that knocked down several big tree branches in our yard. The roof performed great - no problems. We recommend Pete.
Description of Work: We had a new roof put on our house (the old roof was torn off), and had new gutters and fascia installed. Spent about $7,500 - which was roughly $5,500 for the new roof and architectural shingles, $1,500 for gutters, and $500 for fascia.

Because of water infiltration in connection with an addition and becasue we had two layers of roofing shingles, I needed a complete tear off. I called three highly rated roofing contractors including Ciraulo. All three responded quickly with detailed bids, but Pete Ciraulo was the only one who spent time on my roof examining the problem areas. In his detailed bid he noted the problem areas and his solutions. As an attorney I like very detailed contracts and Pete was very responsive in explaining how he would handle the problem areas and quite willing to add detail to our contract. Interestingly, although we wanted the GAF CAMELOT shingles installed because we like their appearance, Pete did not push these higher end shingles; in fact he made it clear that we would have a wonderful roof with the next lower shingle series and save 30%. Pete's crew started and finished exactly on schedule and Pete called me several times to explain exactly what his crew had found when they tore off my existing roofs and what measures they were taking to correct the problems including rerouting downspouts. As for the tear off, I had expected (because I had seen several jobs in my neighborhood handled this way but never discussed with Pete) that Pete's crew would drape my entire house with tarps and then proceed to push all of the old roofing material off the roof and down to the ground with the tarps protecting the walls of my house. In fact, Pete's crew did not simply push the old roofing material off of my roof. Rather, they carried all of the old material to a spot over my garage where they deposited the old roofing material directly into a dumpster. This process probably took more time but spared all of our shrubbery and eliminated any risk to the exterior walls of our house . Pete has only one six man crew so he was on my job site every day, until the job was completed in 3 1/2 days, He was on the job site every morning discussing with his foreman exactly how each valley etc would be handled. My experience with Peter Ciraulo could not have been better and the roof that his crew installed is beautiful.
Description of Work: Pete Ciraulo tore off existing roofs on my house and installed the GAF Camelot series shingle with ice and water shield. His crew also installed a membrane roof over porch.

Very happy with the service that took place, advice, repair made. Understood we would receive a written proposal to do various improvements (i.e., make cover for sump pump well to contain moisture. for one). That did not happen in about 5 weeks so I left msg saying I take it that is not going to happen. However, if/when we need major work, would still go back to Ciraulo.
Description of Work: Leak in the attic around the chimney was evaluated. That was unexpectedly fixed at no charge. Several other good recommendations of things that could be done in the house, were made. Things that would improve the condition and maintenance of the attic area.

We started the process back in November of 2008, reviewing writeups in Angie's List and getting quotes from several contractors. In the end, I chose Pete because he listened to what I said I wanted to do, made very helpful suggestions, and explained the process in detail. He answered my questions, even the ones that probably seemed trivial to him, in a competent and professional manner. He was not the lowest bidder, however, I decided that his company represented the best value for me. He was not licensed in our county but after I determined that it was required, he did the necessary steps to get licensed. After the initial visit, we mostly communicated by email, eliminating the frustration of phone tag. Days after I signed the contract, the coldest and snowiest winter in many years began with a vengeance and did not let up until March 2009. In early March, Pete emailed his desire to begin in the first week that was predicted to have reasonable weather, and I agreed. He arrived on that date with a large green dumpster and within an hour, his team was hard at work stripping the roof. They were efficient, professional, skilled, and did a beautiful job. The team was large enough to get the job done from start to finish in about three days. Pete checked on the job to make sure things were going well, but his foreman had things well in hand. They protected the ground with tarps, and did an excellent job of cleaning up when they left. I would recommend them to anyone. The job cost slightly more than the estimate because I added gutter screens and also added a new heater vent to replace the ugly one that would have looked awful with the new roof.
Description of Work: The entire roof was stripped down to the plywood. New shingles, membrane, skylight, and vents were put on. The gutters and downspouts were removed, and replaced with new larger ones. Downspouts were moved to be more accessible, and a new downspout was added. Some repairs were done to the roof peak boards as well. Gutter screens were installed.
