After they performed the services discussed above they cleaned up all small twigs and leaves. They were very efficient and professional. The total job took the crew about three hours.

While other tree services were backed up or too busy to come out for "less than critical" tree removal after a large storm blew through our area (even one company with whom we had been on contract as a "customer" for many years) , WInkler's came out promptly, left us a bid that beat the competition and performed the work within days. Great work, neat, quick. We will definitely keep them in mind for all of our tree related needs from this point forward.

Our driveway is pretty narrow and they masterfully got their huge truck down it with no problems. They let me know just what to do with getting in touch with ComEd and had my full confidence throughout the whole process. Will definitely use them again!

They came out and gave me an estimate. They could do the work quickly. They showed up when they were supposed to and did what they were supposed to. They were probably not the highest in price. I had no problems with them and would use them again in the future if necessary.

I saw Pat Flanagan at a local Starbuck's and asked if he could give me an estmate for some trees removed. The estimate was given in August. I contacted Pat in December to see if he was still interested in the job. The estmate was still good and we set the date of December 16. Pat called two days before to confirm his crew would be there around 10 AM. They arrived on time with three trucks and their equipment. Trucks and equipment were in great shape and well maintained with company name and numbers boldly displayed. Workers completed the job in one day. Trees and stumps were removed as discussed. They cleaned up as well. Employees were very professional.

I was very impressed with the work that they did. Cost-wise, they are right in the middle. They are more expensive than some companies and less expensive than others. They never do more work than you need to be done, which is a good thing.

We have used them for many years and have been satisfied with their service. Their clean up was great.

It is a dutch elm, which can only be trimmed certain times of the year. They came back 6 months later for additional work at no charge. They have good communication and professional attitudes. Charges are reasonable. We are happy with there service.

We were not home when they came to do the work and they did a pretty good job. We didn't get a bunch of bids for the work. I would probably use them again.

Someone from the company came by and looked at the property without any contact with me. I received an estimate in the mail. Although the price was quite fair and was a little bit lower than the competitive bids, the process seemed pretty anonymous and since there was such a delay in getting the bid from them I had already hired another company. This company has done good work for people that I know, but for me I prefer a more personal approach and I would have liked some sort of communication that my RFP had been received, when they could come out for a look, etc.

I was very happy with the initial analysis and completed work.

It went very well. They preformed all services listed on the original estimate and cleaned up very carefully. My only problem was that I had to wait two weeks for the service... but I had procrastinated all summer, so I couldn't really blame them!!! BTW...This company operated out of LaGrange Park and has a different name (Winkler's Tree Service, Inc) but it uses the same telephone number as Winkler Tree and Landscaping listed above.

We received a timely, professional estimate. We were told it might take three weeks before they could get to us. However, they did do it within two. The workers were efficient, well equipped with a cherry picker truck able to easily reach to the top of the trees, and the clean up was meticulous. The job took less than 30 minutes so it was an expensive half hour. (It was about 4:30pm when they finished and they stood around their truck for another half hour.) Overall, the work was excellent.

My wife and I were concerned that some of the trees around my home were becoming overgrown. In particular, we have three large evergreen trees and I feared that they were getting too large and should be pruned. Tim Shepard from Winkler's Tree Service arrived on time and was very courteous to me. We walked around my property and I pointed our various trees and other landscaping that I was concerned about. He educated me on the growth patterns of the evergreen trees and of the other trees and shrubs. He said that it would be too expensive for Winkler's to do the job for me. Instead, he showed me how I could do the job myself without too much effort. When he was leaving, I asked him how much I owed him for coming to my home and giving me his advice. He said there was no charge. While I didn't actually have any work done, I would used Winkler's again. They have a great web site, too.

Tim Shepard came to give me an estimate the same day I called. I am a repeat customer and feel that the estimate was very reasonable. I was told the work would be done within six weeks and the crew showed up in the fifth week. I had specified that I wanted to be notified prior to their coming. I received a call on the Friday before the Monday work date. The crew was careful and expertly handled the trimming of my huge elm tree. At all times they made the effort to respect my neighbors' property. This is especially important as one neighbor absolutely detests my elm tree. This neighbor greeted the crew when they arrived and demanded that several very large branches overhanging his property be removed. The crew respectfully told him 'no'. Very professional, tree-appreciative arborists with integrity.

Winkler was recommended to us by a friend. They were very responsive and provided a written estimate. They gave us an estimate for their suggestions for all of our trees, so the $3600 was actually for removing the entire Willow tree and an old Elm on our property (including the stubs), trimming another tree and two parkway trees. We did not end up using Winkler because we went with B. Haney (partially based on their Angie's list discount) - however based on our experience with that vendor, next time we will probably go with Winkler - or at least will call them for an estimate.

We asked for an inspection and recommendations for the care of some old trees in our yard. Their arborist, Tim, come out and made specific recommendations, based on each tree's condition, and left us a proposal with estimates. Tim also returned phone messages, and readily explained the options. After we asked them to go ahead with the fertilization part this fall, they did the deep root fertilization promptly, without disturbing us to do it.

The project went very well. I called for an estimate and Tim Shepard came to my home (I was not home when he came by) and dropped off an estimate that was $150 - $300 lower than any competitor. I initially called Winkler's because they do quite a bit of municipal tree work in my local community. Ultimately, I used Winkler's because of their low price and a referral from a friend who had a large tree removed and ground down. The crew was very thorough except for some branches that hung over my neighbors yard of which he requested that they be removed. When the crew was about to leave my neighbor noticed that they had not completely trimmed to his satisfaction and they came back the site without incident and trimmed the branches to his satisfaction. Once again, I was not home during the work, so upon my return home I inspected the site and was quite satisfied. Aside from the work done to the two trees I could hardly tell that they were on site. Clean-up was very thorough.

Although I don t have a service agreement with Winkler, they come every time I call them. They are usually very punctual. This last time they weren't because the weather in August was absolutely awful. It was raining cats & dogs, so it was understandable. They still did a good job.

Salesperson came out within a day or two of my call to request a quote. He provided a quote which I accepted. The work was done about 4 weeks later as expected. The workmen did a good job except for damaging the wood edging of my garden bed with the root grinder. They didn't remove the wood edging after I told them that they could pull it up and that I'd put it back (i.e. no real extra work for them). They did pull the edging up, but only after it was damaged. I ended up being able to turn the pieces of edging around so that the majority of damage does not show.

For the previous homeowners, after a very large tree had fallen during a storm, Winkler came out and removed a great portion of it. After we purchased the home, Winkler returned and ground down the stump so that the area was level with the ground.

I was very happy with the service. Eric was very courteous. He came out and examined the trees and left a quote on the door for me that I accepted and faxed back. He then called within a week to let me know he'd be out to trim the trees the following day, weather permitting. I was not home when the work was done, but when I arrived home, the trees were thoroughly trimmed, and everything had been cleaned up and hauled away.

WINKLERS RESPONDED TIMELY WITH AN ESTIMATE TO REMOVE 2 TREES AND STUMPS. THEIR ESTIMATE WAS LITERALLY MORE THAN DOUBLE ($3,600)THE NEXT HIGHEST ESTIMATE WE RECEIVED; WE ULTIMATELY WENT WITH A TREE SERVICE WE HAD USED BEFORE THAT COST LESS THAN HALF OF WINKLER AND WERE VERY SATISFIED. I SUSPECT THAT WINKLERS WOULD HAVE JUST SUB-CONTRACTED THE WORK TO THE GUYS WE ENDED UP USING AND THAT WAS WHY THEIR ESTIMATE WAS SO HIGH.

I AM VERY HAPPY WITH THE SERVICE THAT I HAD WITH WINKLER TREE AND LANDSCAPING. THEY CAME OUT FOR AN ESTIMATE RIGHT AWAY, AS THEY WANTED TO BE SURE THE BRANCH WOULDN'T FALL ON MY HOUSE. THE ESTIMATE WAS GOOD FOR 30 DAYS; WHEN I CALLED TO HAVE THE WORK DONE THEY CAME OUT WITHIN 4 DAYS AND DID A FABULOUS JOB; I LOVE THIS 'NEW' TREE! THEY DIDN'T CALL BEFORE THEY CAME OUT THOUGH, AND MY HUSBAND HAD TO SCRAMBLE TO GREET THEM AT 730 A.M! I WILL CERTAINLY USE THEM AGAIN TO HAVE THEM TRIM BACK TWO OTHER TREES, AND POSSIBLY TO REMOVE SOME SHRUBS.

THEIR PRICE WAS VERY COMPETITIVE WITH THE 5 OTHERS WE HAD GOTTEN. THEIR INSURANCE COVERAGE AND PROFESSIONALISM WAS EXCELLENT. THE CREW ARRIVED 5-10 MIN. BEFORE THE SCHEDULED START AND GOT RIGHT TO WORK. WITH THE TREE BORDERING OUR NEIGHBORS LOT AND A WOOD FENCE IN BETWEEN, THEY TOOK IT DOWN SAFELY, QUICKLY, & WITH A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF ''ARTISTRY''. THEY USED THE PROPER EQUIPMENT INCLUDING A ''BUCKET'' TRUCK AND HAD EVERY LIMB TOUCH DOWN WHERE THEY PLANNED IT. IT WAS VERY IMPRESSIVE TO WATCH. THE WHOLE PROCESS TOOK AROUND 4 HOURS AND THEY GROUND THE STUMP OUT NICELY AS WELL. BOTH MINE AND MY NEIGHBORS YARD WAS CLEANED UP VERY WELL BY THEIR CREW.
