Vent Heating & Cooling Service

This is our second year in our home and we realized last winter that our backroom addition had little-to-no heat flow and was frigid cold. Our goal was to make that room usable year-round. We bid with two other HVAC contractors and we pulled the trigger with Jim and his team. What put them apart was that they took their time assessing our home and situation, walked through all possible options, and clearly communicated those options. They evaluated and wanted to find the most feasible option for us, with efficiency and cost in mind. The other contractors came through and kind of already had their minds set on what heating system to use. Jim is also very personable, knowledgeable, and easy to communicate with. Jim and Carlton's proposal was the most cost effective overall - the unit/system itself and our personal ROI. It was gas as opposed to electric, the job was the least complex in terms of labor and construction, and it's functionality was worth the price.

I found Vent on Angi and called them early Saturday. Jim Facetimed with us in order to diagnose the problem. He called twice over weekend to see how we were. He called early Monday to set a time. Showed up about 9 to check the problem. Came back around 1 and got the furnace going. Jim was on time, polite, knowledgeable, conscientious.

Jim provided a great level of service. He got to us quickly during a heat wave and diagnosed the problem and serviced it right away. This is a great family run business!!

I have had this company service my furnace and air conditioner for years. They are a small, family owned and operated business, local to me. All things I like when looking to hire. Jim and his people have always been honest, professional, reasonable, prompt, careful, friendly and I trust them completely. Before Vent, I tried a few other companies. They seemed to always find something that needed more attention, and more money. By contrast, I have an air conditioner that is quite noisy. At least 5 years ago, I was told, by Vent, that it probably wouldn't last much longer. But since it still seemed to cool OK, they just cleaned it. It is still going. Now, they could have told me it had to go. But their honesty bought me another 5 years or so without that major expense. That would never have happened with any other company. In the end, what gives them a 5 star rating is their integrity. I can't ask for more than that.

Good quality at a fair price. Jim recently installed new ducts, thermostat and thermostat wire for me during a renovation. He cane back when the house was finished to clean and inspect the furnace. I appreciated all of the knowledge he shared during the process. Highly recommend.

I bought a new (old) house in Brookfield and the air conditioner unit promptly failed. I got bids from three contractors I found via Angie's List. Not only did Jim at Vent give me the most competitive bid, he was hands down the most responsive to questions and phone calls, gave the most thorough inspection, and ended almost every conversation with a very sincere, "let me know if there's anything more I can do to win your business." On install day, his guys were early and ready to work. Jim showed up shortly after to supervise. My wife was there that day and he explained everything they were doing and why. He had budgeted 2-4 hours to do the job, but the previous install had been done so poorly that there was a lot of stuff they needed to fix so the new air conditioner was installed to their satisfaction, so they were there for more than 6 hours and didn't ask for a dime more than their quote. I couldn't recommend these guys more highly.

This was my second time using Vent for furnace repair for my furnace repair needs. This experience only required a phone call and Jim’s knowledge to walk me through the situation to be able to get it back up & running. He spent a good amount of time on the phone with me and in the end didn’t require any onsite repair. My first experience was more intense and required significant repair. In both cases, he was thorough and knowledgeable. He walks you through the details and gets the job done quickly & efficiently.

Jim showed up promptly and thoroughly inspected and cleaned our furnace. This included replacing a part that could have eventually caused us to lose heat.

The reason I gave a C grade on promptness was because the first time I scheduled it rained very hard in the a.m. and it was already an hour past when they were supposed to arrive before I called them and canceled for that day and re-scheduled for another. Worked out good the 2nd time around and he arrived at the last 1/2 hour of our two-hour window. The serviceman pointed out something with the a/c unit that needed to be replaced and I was in agreement. Ended up costing more than expected because of those replacements, but I did get an Angie's list coupon rate for the inspection.

Vent came out and saw the job. They said their would be too much work involved and they had enough jobs to take care of their business now so they wouldn't even give us an estimate.

Jim, Roger, and Joe designed and installed a new furnace and duct work system for our 100 year old home. The ductwork that was in place was from the old coal furnace which had the supplies on the interior and returns on the exterior walls. Jim and Roger needed to redesign the entire system to make it function properly. Jim was very professional, communicative, knowledgeable, and timely with the pricing and installation of the entire job. The price was competitive with other quotes we received, and he assembled his team to begin the work very quickly. The job itself went smoothly with no issues. They were all a joy to work with and really went above and beyond to be sure we were happy with the project. After the project was complete, Jim even came back a few weeks later to be sure the air flow from each duct was accurate with the AC running (it was still too cool outside when the project was completed to run the AC). Best of all, our home is now comfortable for the first time in the 18 years we've lived here. It heats and cools quickly and efficiently, with no hot or cold spots like before. Furnace was installed by somebody else 3 years ago and after several diagnostics issues he noticed that the drainage was done incorrect which caused the motor and circuit board to fail. He took it upon himself to see if unit was still under warranty and got those part for free from the manufactory. 2nd time I have used Jim and has yet to disapoint.

Very well---Jim is very conscientious. He did not try to sell me a bunch of parts, he just fixed the problem.

For both trips, Jim committed to a time, worked around my schedule, and arrived on time. When my schedule changed, he was flexible enough to work me in. On top of that, he called me to ensure we would arrive at the house at the same time. While here, he was very informative and helped me understand my furnaces and how/why things were failing. Knowing my basement furnace was under warranty, he asked me to check with the installer to make sure he did not do work that could interfere with the installer's warranty versus doing the work to get paid that could nullify the warranty. Jim is an all around nice and genuine guy who made me feel comfortable fixing my furnace. Once I get beyond the installer's warranty, I will definitely have him handle my annual maintenance.

Have used Jim and the guys several times. Last one was a full furnace replacement - all the work was simply excellent. Professionalism A++.

Our problem was solved after some troubleshooting.

Jim took care of issues with our faulty air conditioner. He was at our house within hours of making contact with him and resolved the problem immediately. I was surprised by his responsiveness during peak A/C season!

It went well. There is nothing bad to say. It went as expected, it was fine. It was on a Saturday afternoon.
