After he said he completed the tuckpointing repair work I had the same problem with chips of concrete falling from the chimney. I reported him to my Village Inspector who contacted him regarding this issue and he returned half of his fee($300). This is another example of contractors taking advantage of senior citizens. I would warn your customers of this company. I had to hire another contractor who did the job correctly who was not on Angie' List.

Discovered that our chimney was badly deteriorated. We had water seepage into the stone of our fireplace. Called two tuckpointing companies, one I had used before for our front porch. Both recommended that the chimney be taken down and rebuilt. The other provider actually was a little cheaper but timing was an issue, so I went with Mike Weber. He was responsive when I called, I usually had to leave a message and he would call me back within a day or so. He stopped by and left a sample of the brick he was going to use to rebuild the chimney. Once I approved, he let me know when they could start. They completed the work and all appears to be fine.
Description of Work: Took down our old chimney, built a new one.

They were very good. I don’t remember how much we spent. They showed up on time. They gave us the estimate quickly. They showed up and did a very nice job. They did exactly what I asked them to do with the front steps and the front banister. I think they are great with business. I think it’s a family business. Everyone was nice to work with. They always showed up when they said they would. They got the work done pretty quickly too. I thought their price was reasonable but we never got another price either. I thought it was inexpensive. We would probably use their services again in the future.
Description of Work: We used M Weber & Son Tuckpointing for masonry. We last used their services probably a couple of months ago. They did some work on our front stairs, the banister and also did some brick work in the open areas in our house.

Kevin came out and walked around the house and took pictures. I received a written estimate a few days later. I scheduled the work, but as the date approached the forecast called for rain. We easily rescheduled for a Saturday so I wouldn't have to take off work needlessly. They came on time, performed the work, and walked me around the house to show me what had been done. As they did the work it seemed that they really checked to ensure all the neccesary spots were tuckpointed.
Description of Work: Some bricks were removed and replaced under a windowsill which was repaired. General tuckpointing around the whole house was performed where needed.

Overall the experience was very professional and courteous. Quick call back, flexible in meeting. Explained in detail the work that would be done. Friendly. Why I choose someone else from Angie's List: I got a few quotes, all of which quoted significantly more bricks that needed to be replaced, from 70 - 300. While I thought the 300 was a bit much, there were definitely more than 25 that I thought needed replacing. The quote for replacing 300 included all of the previously parged bricks that were still not yet pealing/falling apart and the ones that were efflorescing (sp?). The quote was within $100 of Weber's quote so I decided to go with the more extensive repair since the cost was neglegible. I thought about asking Weber to requote me for more brick replacement, but since the quote I already had for 300 brick was so close in price I didn't bother. My original intent was not to replace that many bricks, but with the price being so close I figured I'd just do the more extensive repair and (hopefully) not have any further brick problems in that area.
Description of Work: Received an estimate for brick replacement and tuck pointing for an area of aprox. 12 courses of brick tall by 50 ft. long. This area has a lot of mortor washout, efflorescence, damaged crumbling bricks, a lot of old brick had been previously parged and that was also starting to break off. There were also numerous brick that were previously parged but where the coating was still firmly attached. Weber quoted replacing approximately 25 brick and tuckpoint the remaining area. (There was an additional option for replacing a few brick/tuckpointing on the other side of the building. This was minor in comparision to the main repair project and I decided to wait until next year for that minor repair. I'm only commenting on the main repair project in this review)

In early August, I called around for estimates for the job. Received bids ranging from $870 to $1200 to $1500 to 'I don't have to come out, I will beat the lowest bid'. I liked Mike Weber when he came out. He explained what he would do and how long the job would take. I wasn't in a hurry to get the job done. Mike said he was busy with other jobs at the moment but he would get me scheduled in as soon as possible. The NEXT DAY, the quote was in my mailbox. Mike called a week before the job date to confirm.
Description of Work: I needed bricks reinstalled around a new window that I had installed. The 3 guys arrived promptly at 7:00 am as scheduled. After setting up tarps on the driveway to keep everything clean, they set up their scaffolding and went to work. Everything was done very quickly and neatly. They asked me how I would like to have the row of bricks directly below the sill laid out and we agreed on the pattern shown in the pictures even though it doesn't match the other house windows. I joked with them that they could come back and do all the other sill bricks to match. They worked until 2:00 pm, cleaned everything up, and the job was done. I happily gave them a check as payment. Three days later, they came back and cleaned off all the residue from the bricks. The job looks great...like it has been that way since 1965 when the house was built.

I had seen their work on two houses in my area so I called for a inspection and quote. I called and left a message on their voice mail and received a quick reply. They came in a couple of days and then Mike called back with a quote. The price was very reasonable (lower than most, higher than some) and I had already seen their work product so I new they did good work. I accepted their quote and set up the work for the first week in November. The weather turned and Mike called and said they would have to put off till the next day. No problem, I appreciated the update. The next morning, Kevin and his crew showed up around 7:15. Kevin went over again what they would be doing and confirmed my contact numbers. They completed their work around 3pm. It looks great! They did a very professional job and cleaned up very well. I would definitely recommend them to anyone I know that needs chimney work or any kind of tuckpointing.

Mike Weber came out to give me a quote on pouring a new chimney cap and rebuilding the chimney to the roofline. Although we ended up going with another company, Mike's quote was in the ballpark. He seemed very honest and courteous and I'm sure would have done good work.

Mike and company did exactly what was expected, which these days is noteworthy. He came to the estimate appointment on time, and provided a written quote/contract. He and his team were on time for the actual repair work, provided the required insurance documents, did the work as planned, and cleaned up after their work. Excellent experience with this firm.

Mike came to my home for a consultation, but was unable to get on the roof that day. He came back the next day while I was not at home. He inspected the problems, took pictures and sent me his assessment of what work needed to be done. Mike stated that a roofer would need to do the repairs. Even though Mike did not make the repairs, he was professional, knowledgeable and truthful. I would recommend him.

From the very first contact, Mike Weber was extremely professional. He gave us a detailed, written estimate and was willing to explain just how the work would be done. He called three days ahead of time to confirm work date and time. He said they would arrive between 8 and 9 a.m. The crew came at 8:01 a.m. No music was playing during work. He was very neat and clean. One of the workmen came in to clean up some debris that had gotten into our attic, and he took off his work shoes before coming into the house. There was no mess left, and they finished the job ahead of schedule. The chimney is straight now (it had a noticeable bend before) and looks just great. Mike Weber is an exceptional workman. His crew is top notch.
Description of Work: He rebuilt the chimney. He removed chimney down to below the roofline, rebuilt chimney, installed flue liner from roofline up, installed a four-inch thick concrete cap and metal rain hood.

Mike Weber showed up to give me an estimate ''before noon'' just as he said he would. He recommended grinding out 1/2 inch of existing mortar and tuckpointing, instead of rebuilding. He also recommended putting in a flexible liner that connected the water heater in my basement to a rain hood exhaust on top of the chimney cap. Mike mailed a written estimate to do the job for $935 including $35 for a village permit. I signed and returned it. A crew of 5 showed up at 7:15 A.M. on the appointed day. The scaffolding went up quickly and the job was under way. By noon, the job was completed in a very professional way. They ran into an unexpected problem getting the liner around blockage in the chimney. I was not charged anything additional for the extra hour of work it took to rectify that problem. By noon, they completed an excellent job. I highly recommend M. Weber & Son Tuckpointing. Their price was low, and the quality of their work was very high. These guys are good.
Description of Work: A chimney on my old 2-story Victorian house was badly in need of repair. Rain water was leaking between the bricks and staining our kitchen ceiling. I thought that the entire chimney above the roofline might need rebuilding. While this chimney was no longer needed to vent exhaust from a wood or coal burning stove, we did use it to exhaust a fairly high-efficiency water heater. So, condensation from the exhaust in the chimney was also a problem. The chimney was not getting hot enough to dry out. Thanks to Angie's List, I found a firm in a nearby suburb that I never would have located otherwise.

Mike responded quickly, and came out with his crew to do the job. The first thing they did was to lay tarps so they wouldn't get mortar or brick pieces on the lawn. They worked quickly, did the job completely, and cleaned up afterwards. I would HIGHLY recommend them!
Description of Work: Our chimney was needing what we thought was tuckpointing, but found out that part of it had to be rebuilt instead. Mike and his crew came out and quoted rebuilding 10 rows of bricks. He ended up rebuilding 12 rows but did not adjust his price for the extra work.

YOU CAN TRUST THIS COMPANY! CALLED AND RECEIVED ESTIMATES FROM ALL OF THE TOP A RATED ANGIE'S LIST COMPANIES AND THIS WAS THE ONLY ONE WHO ACCURATELY DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AND DIDN'T TRY TO SELL ME INTO A FLUE LINER. AND AS A BONUS, THEY HAD -BY FAR- THE BEST ESTIMATE TO FIX IT. THE PROBLEM WAS MUCH LARGER AND MORE EXPENSIVE THAN JUST A LINER. HE TOOK THE TIME TO CLIMB UP ON THE SECOND STORY ROOF AND FOLLOW THE ORIGIN OF THE WATER. HE OFFERED LESS EXPENSIVE WAYS TO TEMPORARILY PATCH THE ISSUE BUT SAID THAT HONESTLY A REBUILD WAS THE BEST WAY TO FIX THE ISSUE. CALL MIKE WEBER FIRST AND THE OTHER GUYS LATER. YOU WILL SEE THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A SALESMEN (THE OTHER GUYS) AND AN HONEST GUY WHO DOES THE WORK AND KNOWS WHAT HE'S TALKING ABOUT. WE WILL USE HIM IN THE SPRING TO DO THE WORK.

HE IS VERY RESPONSIBLE AND HONEST. ONE THING THAT IMPRESSED ME THE MOST WAS WHEN HE TOOK FULL RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE SOOT CLEAN UP IN THE THE BASEMENT THAT WAS PROBABLY DUE TO A GUST OF AIR. WHEN I VOICED MY CONCERN, HE SAID HE WOULD COME BACK IN THE SUMMER TO CLEAR IT. HE OFFERED ME MONEY BACK, BUT I DECLINED BECAUSE I WAS HAPPY WITH THE WORK. MY ADVICE IS TO PUT VERTICAL SHEETING AT THE BASE OF THE CHIMNEY WHEN HAVING THIS WORK DONE.

WHILE MIKE SR. WAS MY CONTACT, HIS SON, MIKE JR. WAS ON THE WORK CREW HEADED BY SUPERVISOR, KEVIN. THE JOB WAS HANDLED WITHIN TWO WEEKS FOLLOWING MY INITIAL CONTACT. HE WAS TRYING TO ACCOMMODATE MY ROOFERS PROMPT SCHEDULE. GREAT 4-MAN CREW. DONE IN ONE DAY. TOPPED MY CHIMNEY WITH NICE, DECORATIVE BRICK COURSES. CLEANUP WAS GOOD, THOUGH A BIT OF WET CEMENT MIXING RESIDUE WAS LEFT TO CLEAN ON MY NEWLY RESURFACED ASPHALT DRIVEWAY. BUT GENERALLY SPEAKING, WE WERE VERY PLEASED BY MIKE'S TEAM AND PERSONAL INVOLVEMENT.
Description of Work: THEY REMOVED DETERIORATING CHIMNEY TO ROOFLINE, REBUILT CHIMNEY TO SAME HEIGHT, WIDTH, AND LENGTH USING NEW CLOSELY-MATCHING BRICK, INSTALLED FLUE LINER FROM ROOF UP, POURED NEW CONCRETE CAP, INSTALLED METAL RAIN HOOD, AND TEMPORARILY SEALED CHIMNEY FLASHING UNTIL ROOFERS HANDLE COMPLETE TEAR OFF AND RE-SHINGLE PROJECT.
