Job was done properly. Really didn't require 2 people. Overpriced. Found the pump online for $215. $645 was price with a senior discount. $430 for labor was too much.

We had a difficult start in that getting calls returned and their follow-up communication was wanting. However, I was very happy with the quality of their work, the products they suggest and their explanations. I would use them again.
Description of Work: I replaced my entire sump pump and back-up system.

details listed above. They fixed part of the problem, but did not determine whether the backup system worked. They attached a temporary situation which is an eyesore but effective and will need to remedied when the weather warms up. I now need another visit .I need to find out if the battery is still working on the battery back-up system. The fellow that answers phones seems somewhat unsympathetic to help. His first response was that i should thaw it out. When I said, I need help here, he did send out someone. But, when I called back for the backup system maintenance, he said, well, right now we are just doing emergency repairs. We'll try to get out tomorrow (Tuesday) or call you Wednesday to set up an appt. I'll try to find someone who knows your battery backup system (I own the manual--how dififerent can they all be?) Well, they have my $275 and now it's Friday. Guess I'm not important enough to get back to...are they interested in business or not so much? I know we have had temperatures near 0 the last couple days but now it's supposed to be 40 degrees and I fear that as the snow melts, I may have a problem still. Seems like the followup phone call and visit are in order. Ok, it's Saturday. Still no phone call back from them on a followup appt, but it's been raining, and the primary sump pump is working fine with the configuration they left me. I went to Sump Pump Medic, who fixed everything for a much lower charge.
Description of Work: I called them because my backup battery sump pump was making a buzzing sound, but did not seem to be clearing water, and the backup battery system was very hot. I explained this to the person on the phone. My primary sump pump was not working. The guy on the phone said wait until weather warms up, but I said, I need a working sump pump. Within an hour, a technician came up, unfroze the pipes from the outside, cut off the broken pvc pipe (it cracked) and attached a long pipe to it to expell water when the sump pump pumped. The question I asked him, is either sump pump working? ie: are the pumps burned out, because the primary pump had stopped, and the system had transferred to the back up pump which was not working. He said the primary pump worked because he heard it, and the other sump pump and the battery backup system he did not know how to diagnose. I called the company, and they said they'd send someone out the next day to finish up. They did not send anyone or call. I called them three times over this matter...it's now Friday.....seems sort of like they don't care to me.

I canceled their service and called another plumber and let them know that my disappointment will be written in Angie's list.
Description of Work: My husband and I called tonight to let them know that our sump broke down causing leaking and flooding in our basement . At 10:50 PM, their representative stated that they have a plumber available tonight. It is 12:30 am now, more than 1 1/2 hrs later no return phone call was made by a plumber. They failed on two points - 1) knowledge of the availability or lack of availability of a plumber 2) lack of timely response by the call center and the plumber to let us know someone is coming or not.

Called Wagner Family plumbing, they answered the phone and had Ron and Rick at my home within the hour. They did a great job and saved the day!! Thank you!!!
Description of Work: Sewer back-up due to using the Conttonelle wet wipes. They had to use two different rods to inclog. Returned the next day with a camera to see what was going on in the pipe, the wipes got hung up in a small area of pipe that had some pooling, therefore catching everything at that point.

Initial call spoke with gentleman on the phone who was very patient, very knowledgeable regarding sump pumps - sizes types - costs etc. Gave me estimates for the sump pumps as well as the sillcock replacement over the phone. When I called back I spoke with young woman who scheduled the services. The scheduling went well, the 2 person crew arrived on time. But they were unaware of the "to-do-list" they only knew of the sump pump install. However, when I told them of the other items they were very flexible and accommodating. The sump pump install went very smoothly. They did call to our attention some issues with the sump pit having a lot of gravel and sand in it and the potential negative impact that could have on both pumps. They recommended at some point we would likely need the pit re-dug and re-lined, but I didn't get the impression they were trying to up-sell, they were simply giving us a heads-up about possible future issues. The sillcock replacement turned out to be more work than they anticipated. Access to the inside piping serving the faucet was restricted by drop ceiling and floor joists. The sillcock was also cemented in place and had to be drilled out. The guys were very careful as they contorted themselves to fit and work in the space. They did a great job in a difficult setting. The hot water adjustment of the set screw was simple but well explained and everything put back together quickly and efficiently. I was very pleased with all of my interactions. I priced the sump pumps on line beforehand and think their pricing was fair. When I first heard the estimate for the sillcock replacement I thought the quote was high, but after seeing what they had to go through to get it done, I think they earned every penny. I absolutely would recommend Wagner Family Plumbing and would use them again in the future.

I called about my hot water heater, the plumber called back in a couple of hours. We discussed the problem and the options over the phone. He said he would be there within an hour, and he was. Before he started work, he explained what would be done and the price. The work was completed in a timely matter. The plumber explained what was done and how to service the unit in the future. I am very please with the job they did. I would differently use Wagner Family Plumbing again.

I got them from Angie's List. The guy was very polite and good. One of the reasons it cost $2,200 was because the sump pump that he put in was not a very good sump pump. I had called them up to have a back-up put in and he let me know that the one that was in there was not very good; I am glad he told me that and took care of it. So, I won't have to worry about sump pumps for a while. I think they were very fair with the price; they did not over charge me. They were here when they said they were going to be here and were very professional.

Although I was satisfied with their work, I do not trust that their company cares enough about their clients and their client's concerns.
Description of Work: I had a leak in my kitchen faucet. They were unable to come in that night so we scheduled an appointment for the following day. Mike was 30-45 minute late due to his prior appointment, but he called to notify me of his delay. I was given a quote for all the services (first visit and installation). I told him of my coupon from my association newsletter to which he said he would honor. Ron and another associate came the following day to do the installation. They were quick and thorough. I was charged without the coupon amount deducted from the price. I realized this later on in the day and called their main office and left a message to make this correction before running my card. I did not receive a phone call the next day so I followed up with a second phone call. They could not find my first message so I left the same message for a second time. The following week, I followed up for the third time and spoke with their bookkeeper and left the same message. The next week, I spoke to the same person and expressed my dissatisfaction with their customer service. I told him it was not about the money but about their responsiveness to their clients. I was told he was going to personally relay this message to Mike and that he was texting him right then. Two months since the initial service, I still have not heard back from anyone from their company.

I'm sorry for your troubles with our responsiveness [member name removed]. Sometimes, things like this fall through the cracks, it is certainly never our intention. I would like to honor the $30 coupon, but I can't find your address in our system, I do have a faucet for a woman with a similar last name at 2701 Mapleside...would this be the service you are speaking of? Please send me an email at melissa@wfpcorp.org to confirm. Once again, I am sorry for our lack of responsiveness. Sincerely, Melissa Wagner

I was very happy with all my new pumps.
Description of Work: The switch on my basement ejector pump went bad. John and John arrived the next day and, after some analysis, explained it would be best to replace the pump since the switch was an integral part of the pump. I agreed, and they completed the work. When they were finished they cleaned the area, so you could not tell they had been there. I asked them to look at my sump pump situation. My sump pumps run often, and it was time to replace them. I wanted a new 1/2 hp pump to replace the smaller pump and battery backup pump that I had. In addition, I had a high velocity pump that I knew, from past experience, would not last much longer. We agreed on the work that would be done, and I was given the cell phone number of one of them, so I could call them and let them know when I would be available for them to complete the work. When I called, John told me that Mike was the pump expert, and he would like to meet with me to assess the situation. So I met with Mike, and we agreed on the work that would be completed. He suggested high quality 1/2 hp sump pumps made by Weil with adjustable switches that were not integrated into the pump. He was familiar with the area, and has done work for my neighbor who was very happy with him. Also, from my experience, I know that switches tend to wear out faster than the pumps, and a bad switch can cause the pump to burn out. From Mike's experience, he thought the pumps would last me about 8 years, even though the warranty is for three years. Eight years is much longer than any pump has lasted in my house over the last 15 years that I've been here. I hope he is right. Mike and his associate did the work the next day, and left the work site clean.

When I called to set up the appointment, the person I spoke with was friendly and efficient. She gave me a time frame and said the plumber would call to let me know when he was on his way. That's exactly the way it happened. Eric was the one who installed both the water heater and the sump pump. He and his assistant were professional and very helpful. And I appreciate the fact that they were so conscientious about cleaning up when they finished.
Description of Work: I had a sump pump installed today. It's something I've thought about doing, and should have done, years ago. I finally decided to do it and I chose Wagner because last week they installed my new water heater and I was very pleased with their work.

They came when they said they would and got the job done. It worked after they finished the job and no call backs! I appreciate that kind of service.
Description of Work: We had a new range delivered and the gas pipe sticking up from the floor was too high and the range would not fit properly. They had to replace the pipe and put a shorter pipe in. They did a great job replacing the pipe and reconnecting the new range. I called them on Friday afternoon and they were very accomodating. They had a crew that was done for the day but hadn't left the office yet and they sent them out. I was extremely happy they could take care of this so quickly and for a fair price. I've used Wagner for several other calls to our house (new water heater, broken sewer line to street, new outside faucets, toilet replacements) and they have always been really good.

I called and made an appointment with Wagner Family Plumbing in need of a sewer routing. When the plumber got here he proceeded to rout the tree branches in towards my house which I found odd because it does not make sense to push the tree branches in towards the house. He also claimed there was broke pipe outside that needed to be replaced. I was given an estimate of 3,200 dollars all together. Before agreeing I asked him twice to run a camera through my sewer. I wanted to make sure that was what was wrong due to how costly this job was going to be. He refused claiming it was unnecessary and I mistakenly took his word for it. I later found out, had he did what I asked I would have saved 3,200 dollars. While fixing the pipe outside they said they could see tree roots and claimed they must dig up my basement. After everything was completed my total bill came to about 5,400 dollars. Just a few weeks later my sewer backed up again and I'm questioning what I just paid 5,400 dollars for. I felt like they completely ripped me off, so I called another company. My theory was confirmed when I was informed by the new plumber that I was way over charged. I then reexamined my bill from Wagner Family Plumbing to find that there was no mention of the broken pipe outside. The billing was extremely vague and did not make sense to the new plumber or myself at all. So I called the company and was met with an extremely rude woman accusing me of trying to get a free job. I received a call back from the owner and requested an itemize billing. I was told it would take two weeks to receive that. I would not recommend Wagner Family Plumbing to anyone. The employees are very unprofessional to say the least.
Description of Work: Wagner Family Plumbing came out an routed my sewer. Informed me a pipe was broke outside and replaced it. While doing so they discovered there was a new issue, claiming they needed to big up my basement to replace another pipe that was filled with tree branches.

Rodding is the process of cleaning a sewer, back-rodding is common practice. There is no pushing of roots and debris, the cutters grab the blockage and pull them back towards the city main. You cannot camera a sewer if it is holding water. Another company would not be able to determine what work needed to be completed after the fact, because they were looking at a NEW sewer line, As I mentioned in our conversations, a permit was pulled on the above job. A Village of Sycamore inspector confirmed the work needed to be completed and approved the repairs. If the customer is unsatisfied with the initial service call/diagnosis, they are free to contact other plumbing companies for 2nd opinions or talk to the Village of Sycamore. They had 3 days until we began digging up the sewer, which they approved us to do. They did not. You failed to mention, we gave a 5-yr warranty on your repair. You chose to call another plumber out, so there is no answer as to what backed up and why. Instead of accusing a licensed reputable company (with A and A+ ratings with both Angie's List and the BBB) of ripping you off while not being fully informed we welcomed you to call the Village out with our plumber. You once again chose not to. I'm sorry you feel the need to bad-mouth a company that has always returned your calls and addressed your concerns.

I called approximately 9 am with a backed up kitchen sink. They returned the call within 10 mins and offered availability by 2pm the same day. They arrived as scheduled, performed the power rodding, cleared the drain and took time to answer questions and offered maintenance suggestions (run water for a longer time when using the garbage disposal and use an enzymatic drain cleaner on occasion).

Within 2 hour of my initial call a plumber was scheduled for that very afternoon. Mike (I believe that was his name) arrived on time, used a special tool for pulling Moen cores, had to go to a nearby hardware store to purchase a new core since he didn't have one on his truck for my old faucet, and completed the entire job in about 1 hour's time. There wasn't an up-charge for working on Saturday and Mike left the bathroom very clean..
Description of Work: We needed the core changed in a 20 year old Moen shower faucet. I have done this repair myself in the past but know that if it is really stuck the center of the core can come out resulting in a much bigger problem. This core was stuck! Thus the call to a plumber.

We were so impressed with Eric's work on the previous two jobs he did for us (not to mention his professional and courteous demeanor) that we knew just who to call when we were having trouble with a leaky faucet. We first met him when he came out to replace our sump pump which was a faulty model incorrectly installed by another local plumber. Thank goodness for Eric! Eric was planning to come to replace our faucet the day after our initial call but had to reschedule because he dropped a 30 lb. post hole digger on his head (!!) -- and even though his doctor told him to take a whole week off of work, he was there on the next business day to fix our sink! He worked quickly and got everything into working order in no time. One thing I always appreciate is that Eric takes the time to talk to you about maintenance and upkeep for the plumbing work he does to make sure you won't have problems in the future. I will never call another plumber -- Wagner Family Plumbing provides the best, friendliest service in our area.
Description of Work: We've had Eric from Wagner Family Plumbing at our house three times in the past two years -- previously, he installed a new water heater and sump pump and this time he put in a new kitchen faucet and added valves to our sink pipes.
