Excellent service

We were having issues with our hot water heater and called PDM to check it out. Chris came out and looked at the tank and said we needed a new one. They were quick to order and install the new heater with no problems. Chris was very professional and knowledgeable about the water tank. We ended up calling him back to add a whole house water filter system. He finished the job quickly and went over how the system works and took the time to answer all my questions. I was extremely satisfied with the work done and my mind is at ease knowing the job was done by such experts.

In less than 30 minutes we noticed the smoke coming from the sump pump cover. The sump pump cover was sealed with silicone several years ago so we thought that this area was not the issue. The original cover was made from steel and eventually rusted exposing many small holes which let the gas escape. Since this was within 5 feet of the heating system this caused the sewer gas to be distributed around the house. PDM then investigated all other areas in the house making sure that this was the only area where the gas was coming from. After replacing the cover with a plastic version, resealing everything and replacing the backflow valve the problem was solved and after 3 months have not noticed any occurrence of this issue. I highly recommend PDM for their work quality and efficiency in resolving my issues.

Perfect Not all repairmen know how to repair boilers.

I have a shower that has one handle for the hot water, one for the cold and one to switch from tub to shower. The cold stem broke a while back and we had a licensed and bonded plumber come out and replace that. Total cost was about $150 for all the parts and labor. This was also an after hours call. PDM plumber came out and said that it was going to be $308! Asked the plumber what his hourly rate was, he said $200/hr. That is insane! This was not a major problem and as long as the part was on hand, it could be fixed in 5-10 min (like the last guy). I have seen it done! When we called PDM, and asked what the plumbers labor rate was, she could not tell us! She said, what did the tech say? - Really?!?!?! You don't know the labor rate for the guys in the field?!?! So after refusing the services, we still had to pay $80 for the trip charge, which I can understand because he did have to take time to drive out to the house. The cost of the part ranges from $10 - $20. The plumber did show up in the window provided and was polite. Before the plumber even got to the house, I had a bad experience. Per their little magnet I had, it says 24/7. Which to me means that they are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. I called about 6:30 AM when I got out of the shower....no answer...called again...still no answer. Called back at 7 AM, there was an answer, they did not state that I had reached PDM, just said "hello". I had to ask if it was PDM and to request that a plumber be sent out to fix my shower. I was placed on hold while I was transferred to the Dispatch person. The dispatch person, said, "please hold, we just opened and they should not have transferred the call. My computer is not up yet". I work on a computer all day, so I understand that sometimes these things happen where a computer is not fully on...ok...no problem. After that they were courteous and polite. The whole experience just left a bad taste in my mouth. Too expensive, not very professional. Will NOT USE AGAIN.

Replaced cast iron boiler with a high efficiency unit. They cut it up down in the basement and hauled it out. They were able to replace it and patch the pipes within about 4 days. They were excellent! I have been using them for about 15 years. It can be very difficult to find someone as knowledgeable of older systems as they are.

Very well. He cleaned our drains going from the kitchen into the basement. They were backing up into the basement and creating a mess. He did a great job, and cleaned up the area very well. He was quick and answered all our questions.

I called PDM Plumbing, Heating & Cooling Since 1885 at 7:00 am today and the answering service indicated that normal opening time was 8:00 am and took my information for the service call including the problem, my address and telephone number for the office and as this was not an emergency I could wait until after 8:00am. I received a call at 8:00 and and made arrangements for the water heater to be replaced the same day and was told that I would receive a call 30 minutes prior to the technician arriving. I received a call around 11:45 am and the technician was at my house by 12:15. The service technician Anthony was excellent. He was knowledgeable and very professional and had completed the replacement including the removal of the old water heater and cleaned up by 3:00pm. This was a very good experience and would recommend PDM Plumbing, Heating & Cooling Since 1885.

I called them for service in the morning, and they were able get to us later the same day. Their technician confirmed my diagnosis of the problem, and he had the correct replacement part on his truck. He replaced the defective 12-year-old pump, and then looked over the rest of the heating system to insure that it was functioning properly and that there were no additional problems that needed attention.

He did clean the inside with air pressure but never really and quot;tried to to repair itand quot;. He did a nice job cleaning up around the furnace but I would have preferred he try to solve the problem. Please note, this furnace does not leak. After 2.5 hours, he left, charging me $308.00. He left the with the problem still existing. After he left, I did some google searches and found another boiler repair tech, a Polish guy, who came out and actually solved the problem. Though my furnace was old, it does work fine. My next door neighbor just purchased a new boiler for $4200. installed. Where does PDM get a $9800. bid and even then Dan would not agree that the heat would be any better than the existing system. In summary, just because something is old doesn't necessarily mean it is no good. I am disappointed with PDM. Mark Downey

My wife and I have used PDM numerous times since we moved into our new home in 2010. They originally came out to our home to install a garbage disposal and to clean our furnace. The office staff was able to coordinate with our work schedules, and we received service in a timely manner. We also found the service men to be both courteous and professional. The service men walked us through exactly what needed to be done and why. They even cleaned up when they were finished with the job.We were so pleased that PDM continues to be our plumbing, heating, and cooling company of choice. Through the years, we have used their services for many things. They have helped us with a wide variety of issues ranging from unclogging a stopped up bathtub drain to installing a new vanity and toilet.Overall, the service at PDM is outstanding! We have already recommend them to our friends, family, and co-workers.

Called PDM, they sent a serviceman out within 2 hours and he was done within 1 and 1/2 hours. As he worked he explained every repair to me. Fortunately, because we had purchased our furnace through PDM, they knew the history of it and the service person was able to determine it was still under warranty, covering a majority of the cost! Using PDM for all our plumbing, heating and cooling needs has really paid off because they know our house mechanics just like your doctor knows your medical background, which makes the diagnosis a bit easier and less expensive every time. We have used PDM for our plumbing heating and air conditioning for many years. They installed a new sewer line in our home when our old line was infiltrated with tree roots. We also had a new furnace and air conditioning system installed as well as annual clean and checks for the system. We have trusted PDM because they have been around since the late 1800's and any company that lasts that long is doing something incredibly right! We especially like the guarantee that comes with every job. All the personnel from the office staff to the technicians that we deal with are professional and courteous. We feel so good about their service that we recommend them to other friends.

POHNER DILLMAN AND MAHALICK CAME OUT AND TOLD MY MOTHER SHE NEED TO REPLACE HER BOILER DUE TO A LEAK. SHE RECEIVED A PRICE OF 10000. DOLLARS. SHE TOLD THEM SHE WOULD HAVE TO THINK ABOUT IT DUE TO THE PRICE. I THEN CALLED AROUND FOR OTHER ESTIMATES AND WAS TOLD ANYWHERE BETWEEN 5000 AND 6000.NOW COME ON THEY ALMOST CHARGED AN ELDERLY 80 SOMETHING YEAR OLD WOMAN DOUBLE. NEVER WILL I CALL FOR THEM AGAIN. . TO MAKE MATTERS WORSE THAT BOILER ONLY NEEDED A SIMPLE FIX TO CORRECT THE LEAK. AFTER I CALLED ANOTHER PLUMBER TO FIX IT. THAT BOILER IS STILL WORKING 7 YEARS LATER.THEY MAY COME OUT QUICK BUT YOU BETTER HOLD ON TO YOUR WALLET BECAUSE THEY ARE OUT AND OUT CROOKS.

PDM's plumber arrived on time and was reasonably well spoken, though not as polished as previous PDM workers (they have done other work more significant work here previously). He tested the supply line and found it to be in fine working order. He then replaced the mechanism inside of the toilet. When he handed me the invoice, the dispatch was $79.00, written as "79" and the next line item was "replace toilet fill valve and supply line" which was written as "275". There were no periods and no total was written below these items. I thought that the part he replaced in the toilet was $2.75, since there was no punctuation and no final total given and, after all - it was a cheap plastic part inside of my toilet. Imagine my surprise when, in fact, the $2.75 was $275.00. When the office was called, it was pointed out that the invoice lists the property as a rental property when, in fact, it is not. This was the justification for the outrageous bill. PDM took the $79.00 off of the bill but kept the $275.00 on. This is the last work they will ever do for my family. Considering they have made over $12,000.00 from us on previous work, refusing to correct the balance on a small job is unforgivable.

I have used PDM for over 10 years for all my plumbing and HVAC needs. They have always been responsive (although they are a busy company) to my needs and have been able to arrive at my home when they promised to. I have used them for regularly scheduled maintenance and emergency calls as well. When I moved into my home, I had a leak under my kitchen sink that was for my reverse osmosis drinking system. They came the day after I called to request service (since I called late in the day and it was not an emergency). I was impressed by the fact that they wear footie's over their shoes whenever they enter my home. They have been more than willing to use the furnace filters I purchased on my own and they even suggested a company to purchase them from (rather than pay their markup). They always provide a written estimate for all work before it is performed. Payments can be made with credit cards (which was an initial plus), but they also offer a pre-paid semi-annual checkup service for both the furnace and a/c units.
