Please use this as a warning before using this business, the owner does not honor life time warranty he states he has on parts. I had Jeff install a damper for us at the end of 2022, the metal pull you use to open chimney broke and in February I asked him for a repair, he said the part is covered but service fee of $125 is not, he said he will be on vacation for 30 days but will contact me when he returns, never heard back so in April 2023 I started texting and calling, he finally called me back 5/11/23 and as I was explaining the situation he hung up on me and would not take any more of my calls, very unprofessional

This guy Jeffrey is a FRAUD! I cant believe I didnt read any reviews before hiring him! I talked with him earlier this year and he seemed to be very knowledgeable about chimney. He also quoted me a price that seemed reasonable! I didnt get the work performed but told him to reach out in the fall. He did and I requested an estimate for chimney repair. I SHOULD HAVE KNOWN BETTER WHEN HE ASKED ME TO SIGN A DOCUMENT BEFORE HE DID ANY WORK STATING THAT HE IS TO GET PAID. I only have myself to blame! He hustled me into letting him see my boiler which was an additional $100.00. His story about rerouting my lines were complete crap! My home is 100 years old and he stated that they didnt know what they were doing when they laid brick in the firebox area???? He also said they didnt build my boiler system right??? I suggest we all get together and SUE this *******!

They gave me a quote of $259 quote for the 2 chimneys. Upon coming out he said he did not know that they were 2 chimneys. He said the price is $559 and asked me to pay that amount without doing any work. Then he wrote a contract that stated the chimneys needed to be replaced. We hired other companies and they said that the chimneys are in good condition and it just needs cleaning. This company is fraudulent. I don't want anybody being screwed over again by this company.

Demanded $175 “down payment” via online funds transfer service Zelle. We paid it and made a date for the work to be done. Jeffrey did not show up on the day appointed, and did not call. After repeated attempts (calls, text, emails) we demanded a refund because we hired a credible & highly recommended service. We canceled well within the 3 BUSINESS DAYS allowed by law. He has repeatedly refused to return our money, complained to the BBB and to the Assistant State’s Attorney’s Office of Consumer Protection in Illinois. THIS SERVICE IS NOT RECOMMENDED!

They were strictly there to try and upsell their services. The sweep was not very thorough and they never got on the roof to clean the stack.
I originally moved in my house knowing my fireplace needed some work per my inspector. I hired FP&C off of Groupon to do a chimney cleaning. The receptionist was friendly and the initial service was prompt. They gave me a list of 5 or 6 “fixes” they recommended which were consistent with my inspection a few months earlier. I called back a few weeks after the cleaning to schedule the rest of the services. They were going to seal some cracks, seal my gas inlet, install a new cast iron fireback, install a new cast iron fire grate, install bird guards, and clean my dryer vent. The service was going to be $550 plus the cost of the bird guards (they weren’t sure how many I needed so they left the cost off until they would come out). I was required ½ down as a deposit, or $275. On the initial visit they showed up around 400 pm which was within their window of 1 to 5pm. They came in, spread tarps, cleaned, and sealed the cracks. He installed the fireback but it was too big and he had to “bend” one of the sides to get it to fit (something I realized later but more on this in a minute). The fire grate they brought was a little large and stuck out the front of the fireplace not allowing the screen to close. He asked if I was ok with it and I said I was not. He tried to “push” the grate and force it in but it wouldn’t go. He explained that he could order a smaller one and come back but would leave a smaller one in the meantime so that I could still burn a fire. I figured that was a fair trade and agreed. Then he came back with a smaller stainless steel fire grate and said he had this as an option as they did not have a cast iron one that would fit in my “smaller” fire place and this was the best option for me. He said he could give it to me for $140 less than the cast iron one. We negotiated the amount I still owed (since I put down the deposit), he packed up and started to leave. I asked about the bird guards and dryer vent cleaning and he said it was too late to do it and would have to come back. Then he sold me how the dryer vent was something I should do myself and not “waste” the money. While I appreciate his offer it is not something I wanted to do myself but rather have someone else complete for me. They left and I was upset that my fireplace was not “ready” to use so I called back and spoke to Alex who identified herself as the Operations Manager. I explained my frustrations and she assured me she would get this fixed. They were making a special trip to come out 2 days later (Friday the 15th) to fix it all. I was at work when they showed up and my children’s caregiver said they were on time and polite. I came home to find they cleaned the vent and I was told they installed the bird guards. I found a fire grate which was significantly smaller than the first one and was obviously used before as it had char marks on it. The grate, which had 4 small legs (which were too small to fit over the gas inlet on the bottom of the fireplace), was “balancing” on 4 pieces of masonry brick that he had broken into small pieces. As soon as you touched it or loaded it with wood the whole grate would teeter and wood would fall all over. I was upset and called back the cell number of the person that was at my house earlier. He informed me that he was told to put the bricks under the grate and was just following orders. He said he would have someone call me back to discuss it further as he was “busy” at the moment. It was after hours and surprisingly a guy named Jeff called me back. He identified himself as the Owner and apologized for my experienced multiple times. He explained that normally they would use firebricks, not masonry bricks, to prop up smaller grates to fit over the gas inlets on the bottom of the fireplace. I advised this is not what happened. I explained I had family coming over for the holidays the next day and my hope was to have a fire. He agreed to come the next day to fix it (which was Saturday the 16th). He showed up the next afternoon with a brand new fire grate and 4 fire bricks. He set it up and asked if that was sufficient. He offered to come back after the season and make some discounted repairs to fix things so that we could then find a better solution to the firegrate. I agreed as family was starting to pour in. The next day my family and I sat to watch some movies at night and I lit a fire. I opened the damper and lit the wood. Within 5 minutes my house was filled with smoke not to mention my kids were all screaming that they thought the house was burning down when the smoke detectors starting blaring. After dragging burning logs out of the fire and throwing them in a bucket outside I realized that the fireback was so big it was only allowing the damper to open about ½ inch as opposed to the full 90 degrees it should open up. I called the next day furious that I was going to have to have them come out again. I spoke to Alex again who was relaying everything to Jeff in the background. I could hear him explaining that everything worked fine when he was there so there should not have been a problem. This only made me more upset because there was NO WAY the damper opened when he was there with the fireback installed. He came back out again (the 5th visit) a few days later. He came in and saw that the fireback in deed was the wrong size and said he was just trying to maximize the size for me initially and apologized again. He gave me a smaller one and offered to do chimney cleaning for free the next couple of years to make up for my troubles. I told him to refund some of my money and explained how unhappy I was with all the service. I explained this was a simple, routine service and there is no way it should have been performed as poorly as it had been to this point. I did receive a check for $100 back from him a few days later but it did not help me feel that they cared about my business from the get go and just wanted to rush through to make some money. I will say that through all of this they continued to come out and were friendly and polite but I don’t understand why they tried to cut so many corners each time and why it took 5 visits over the course of 3 weeks to get my fireplace up and running. To say I’m disappointed is an understatement. In the end they did get everything fixed and working but my confidence in their workmanship is not there.

Terrible, he charged me $105 for a cleaning of the chimney that was never done and claimed he took the money for the inspection and stole ceramic logs and a nice fire-poker and carried it out of my house with his stuff so I never noticed. I would never hire this company, Jeffrey will lie and steal from you.
Description of Work: I hired Jeffrey (owner) for a chinney sweep/cleaning. Jeffrey is the owner of this company with no other employees. After 30 min of walking around the house and looking into the firebox, he says he is done. I gave him a check for $105. My husband comes home and says the chimney is not cleaned. I call back Jeffrey and inquired about this, and he says he did an "inspection" on my chimney and says he couldn't clean it because of the condition of the inside of the chimney. I asked him why he asked me for $105 for a cleaning if the cleaning wasn't done, and he said that he did an inspection on the chimney and that was the fee for the inspection. He misled me on purpose and took my money. He is a crook. Also, my husband noticed that our fire-poker and ceramic logs were missing. So I called Jeffrey to ask him why he took the fire-poker and ceramic logs and he said he "accidently" took the fire-poker and threw it out. He took things from the firebox of the chimney (ceramic logs and a nice fire-poker) and I said I wanted them back and he said he threw them out and couldn't get them back even though I called him within 24 hours of him coming to my home for this cleaning/inspection. I asked him to buy me a new fire-poker and ceramic logs and he said he will only replace what he took if we signed a contract with him to do chimney work. I said "no", and I told him if he took the fire-poker accidentally then he should have called me to try to return it, and he said he "didn't think I wanted it so he threw it out".

We came to your home, inspected every area of your Fireplace And out of a courtesy we inspected your other chimney. I asked you about the ceramic logs and they were falling apart, you seen the condition after I recognized it, you specifically asked me to throw away everything in the Firebox, and I did, now you are saying these things because your husband is upset about the ceramic logs that You asked me to remove from your Fireplace, and you signed the Certified Chimney Inspection report in which I have that states exactly about the logs being removed and you signed so I can protect myself from issues like this. You bought a house and you didn't know that there are fire hazards with not just the fireplace, chimney, gas lines and I gave you the information because of my credentials and because that is what I do for the community. You called me and threatened me over the phone that you would give me a bad review if I didn't return your logs that You asked me to throw out, and you signed paperwork to prove you did, unfortunately..my garbage was already picked up the next day. You made the decision to remove the logs, and now blame me. I never worked for you through Angieslist..You called my company and told me that you got a price for an inspection/cleaning and I brought my price down to help you.. I will talk to Angieslist and send them a copy of your condition report to prove you went out of your way because you made the mistake originally..and you kept saying your husband is mad..he is mad because of your decision..not mine..

They did the work as advertised, but recommended $2,000 worth of more work that "needs" to be done to make the chimney safe. I had a second opinion, and that contractor does not think the work needs to be done. I did have them return to clean the dryer and bathroom vents (because they only wanted $90 to do it). He cleaned the vents, but found more problems and wants another $200 to fix those. I feel he is giving me the bait and switch - I am done with him.

When we arrived for the original service, as a courtesy we recommended installing guards for the vents around the house, you agreed for us to do so, we went to install them, and birds ate through the line and nested in the bathroom vent, we do charge for any additional services. We never said that you need to do anything..you have a choice to do so, and we gave you a honest opinion. You did agree for us to return to do these services and gave us a review about not hiring us again, but you did 2 times more to fix existing issues that could cause a fire. I don't understand where the switch and bait happened, and I hope when everything is completed, we can continue to help you. Thank you for your business Best regards.. So..you changed part of what you said that was also untrue, and removed part of your review, and all we ask is to be 100% honest, and you are not. We take pride, and are honest about what we do..

The job was well done and scheduled very quickly after paying the 50% deposit. They accessed my Angie's List voucher online and did not require that I provide a copy. I gave a B for punctuality as the initial day of work was scheduled for between 8 and 10 am. I called at 10:20 when no one showed or called. I received a call back at 10:40 saying that the work was being rescheduled due to morning rainfall. After that initial delay, all scheduled appointments were kept on a timely basis. Overall rating is an A.

Alex and her assistant showed up just a bit late and apologized for being sooty, but that IS her job. I understood completely. She inspected both exteriors and also photographed the interior of my fireplace chimney. She explained what needs to be done, and also, in what priority. I now have a written list of the items that need to be done first, then later, and what they will approximately cost. I will need a liner replacement, a new cap (for the fireplace chimney), rubberize both chimney crowns and minor exterior tuckpointing for both chimneys as well. First order of business is to get the new stainless chimney cap and the rubberizing done. I was very happy with the report she gave me and would recommend them to anyone with chimneys!

Alex and her helper were very professional and courteous. They were running a bit late but gave me an estimate on how long the repair would take. They had to cut the cement bricks on-site after using chisels to break out the old pieces. After installing the cement Alex ran into a challenge while putting on the heat shield - she was missing her drill bits. She decided to install using a screwdriver instead of going back to the shop to get the tools. She explained what she was doing and did a great job cleaning up. Will gladly use them for next year's chimney clean.
