Originally quoted ~ $400. Received a bill for $725. Nearly doubling the original estimate seemed ridiculous and I called the office to discuss with manager. Unwilling to compromise. I will never hire them again.

When I talked to someone on the phone he said the total cost would be $85.00. When he came to look at the problem he told me it would $375. He said that he would need to get additional equiptment and it would cost him to rent the machine needed. He asked that I pay him $200 in advance because the economy was bad and he wouldn't be able to afford that on his own. I never saw him again after that day. There were just phone calls which were false promises followed by excuses for months. He said I would need to move things in order for him to do the service and that became of a huge inconvenience when he would just never show. He was very predatory as I'm a senior citizen. The last action I encountered with this man was that he scheduled to come and do the work and I waited all day. Finally after getting a hold of him he told me that he had tried to come in the back door and "I didn't answer." He left a card on the back porch as a pretence of showing up---as if I hadn't been home or something. To this day he has done no work and has only been inside the house once. In effect, he basically stole $200 from me because he has yet to do what I paid for and that was back in October.
Description of Work: Needed a roto rooter.

He came and looked around and told me I needed to move certain things. On the phone he said it would $85 dollars and then when he got there he told me it was around $200. He then said I needed about $400 of work and he wanted half of that in advance. He told me it would be more because he needed to get more equipment for the job. He told me because of the low economy he needed the money up front. He was a big guy and kind of bullied me so I wrote him a check. I ended up calling a lot of people to complain but all they were willing to do was mediate. I wanted to take him to small claims court but the fee was around $125 and I would have no reassurance that he would show up?which would only put me in the hole even more. Every time he was scheduled to come he would be hours late and always give a new excuse. After finally waiting about 5 hours on a Saturday I called his cell phone and he said he had come and tried to get in the back porch which I wasn?t sure if he even had. He left a card and that was it. It has been 6 months and he has yet to even start the work. There have been times when he was rude and I feel like he should be known as a crook. I?m a senior citizen and that $200 really brought me down as I?m on a fixed budget.
Description of Work: Drains had to be rotor routed.
