The on-site installation staff was very friendly and professional. They were prompt in their arrival and did a get job with installation. They will subsequently be forwarding an electronic PDF file of our zones so we know how to work with our timing device and directed us to a website with directions on how to use the device. Name brand products were used for the system and they handled permits, etc. Water Works was incredibly generous in working with us a 501(c)3 not-for-profit - words cannot adequately describe our appreciation. We are looking forward to working with them for the on-going service and understanding of the system. It's doing a great job!! Thanks Water Works!!!

Was in the market for a sprinkler system so I called over to water works and talked to Roger the owner who came out to give me an estimate. After that I felt comfortable that they would perform the job in a timely and professional manner, boy was I wrong about the professional part. The original install was done and there was not 100 percent coverage on all the landscaping which is what they guaranteed. I called to notify them of the problem and they sent out a tech that told me they were getting full coverage. I stood in the landscaping and said how can thee be full coverage when I am not even getting wet. Needless to say this went on and on for about two weeks. They finally say they are going to come out and look at it again, unfortunately I had to work that day so my wife had to deal with the tech on site. Has any one ever received a frantic call from their wife? I get a call saying this guy is rude and is swearing at me. I think to myself she is over exaggerating until I pull up to the house get out of my car and hear the tech swearing and screaming at my wife. I walk over there and tell him to immediately leave and I will be calling his boss. I talk to Roger and would you believe he says that his guy did not do anything wrong. How could you ever do business with an owner of a company that only cares about the initial install? I would never do business with them again and have since hired a different company to fix everything the right way. Now I get why this company had so many bad reviews to begin with. Stay away.

When the technicians left, the entire sprinkler system did not work It took me 2 days of digging up control boxes and testing wiring with a VOM to determine one of the techs disconnected and removed the common power supply for all sprinkler heads. I understand "mistakes happen"! But what I don't understand or accept is the fact that "Roger" (the owner) refused to accept any responsibility for the problem. I won't go into the details but eventually (after lots of hassle and a BBB complaint) Roger agreed to send out a 3rd technician to adjust all the sprinkler heads they installed. When everything was restored correctly I withdrew my BBB complaint.

They were on time, efficient, and prompt.

They will only come to our house on specific days - not flexible at all.Very expensive.

We got a recommendation for them through Angie’s List. They have done a good job for us and we have been pleased with them. They came out last week to turn the system on for the first time. We decided to go with them because the recommendations were really high. We were happy with them when they came out to give us a quote. Our overall experience with them has been good.

I have never had such poor customer service in my life.They were not only not willing to help me out, but the manager was talking down at me and refused to help me out in any way. She actually hung up the phone on me while discussing my issue. Until this year I used to use them all the time. And now I will never recommend this company to anyone and will never use them in the future. This was the most worst experience I have had with a company on Angie's list. Water Works should be nominated for the Hall of Shame.

When we moved to Glenview, we had underground sprinklers installed by Water Works back in 2003. The installation went fine. The problem is their ongoing service. Every year the system must be purged in the fall and re-started in the spring, at the cost of several hundred dollars. (Bear this in mind if you're thinking of installing underground sprinklers, by the way.) Over the years, Water Works has been generally hard to deal with, inflexible in scheduling, expensive in cost, and rude in customer service. We stayed with them mostly out of inertia. Last year (2010), one of our "zones" developed leaks (or at least constant standing water on the sidewalk adjacent) in 2 locations. We paid for them to come out and fix it. The fix did not work. When we scheduled the system shutdown in the fall, we told them about the continuing problem. They did not fix it then, but said that if we would sign up for a service contract they would fix it in the spring. We did so. They came out in May 2011 and "fixed" the system again, charging us $30 for additional parts (above the cost of the start-up service). This time, the puddles were slightly smaller, but now there were 4 locations. We put up with it all summer, but when the bill came for the parts we paid it with the condition that they would fix it right at no additional cost. They refused to do so. Customer service were their customary rude selves, (Over the years, my wife has gotten so fed up with them that she hates and avoids calling them for any reason.) They offered to do exactly the same thing they did the prior year ("sign up for a service contract and we'll fix it in the spring.") As they have failed to fix it twice on our dime already, I'm not willing to give them any more of our money until they prove they can fix it. During the conversation, the customer service rep put me on hold to talk to the "owner." Later in the conversation, when I asked to speak to a supervisor, she said that she (the person who had originally answered the phone) was the supervisor. When I asked her who her supervisor was she said the "owner". When I asked to speak to the owner she said that he wasn't there. When I asked to leave a message for the owner, asking him to call me back and saying that I wasn't willing to pay more until they fixed the problem they had already failed to fix twice, she said that he wouldn't call me back and hung up on me. Stay away.

We are very happy with the work and follow up by Water Work, Inc. I read several of the negative reviews and determined the complaints weren't really about the work so I decided to go ahead and take a gamble. One complaint was about the truck marks on the lawn. While they don't drive a truck around the lawn, the machine that digs the trenches to lay the sprinler tubing does make marks on the lawn, but I don't know how you would expect anything else when putting an inground system in an established lawn. The Water works team was very professional. The installer in charge of our project took a lot of time to explain how the system worked, how to program changes, etc. He also went over how to program the new lights. We called to ask them to move some lights and they came back promptly and did the work requested. They also changed a sprinkler head to a different type and replaced the receptor box for the lighting for a larger model after determining the other one was too small. All the work was done promptly and no extra charge. I could not expect more. The office staff has also been extremely helpful, friendly and responsive when I have called. I waited to write this until the system had been in for awhile so I could comment on the follow-up and how the systems worked. I could not have been happier.

They installed irrigation system quickly and very accurately. They sold me the system. They finished with minimal damage to the lawn. Install foreman was very polite and knowledgeable. I would recommend them over and over again.

Contracted company to install lawn and garden irrigation system. Was quoted a 5 zone system (lawn portion) with 5 to 7 heads per zone. System was installed. The first thing I noticed was that they parked their trucks on the lawn and they installed the heads around the truck without moving the truck. So, the heads were installed at an angle from the street. When I called them on that, they did correct the installation. Upon using the system, I noticed that after about two minutes into the cycle that the heads would loose pressure, so much so that the head couldn't even keep its extension. When I contacted Waterworks, they sent out a repair team and I was told that my well needed a larger HP motor. I upgraded the well motor from 1/2 to 1 full HP motor. I was still not able to keep any pressure in the system. When my well contractor showed up, he calculated that the zones were set up to pump between 15 and 20 gallons a minute. My well only produces 11 gallons a minute. When I called Waterworks and asked them if they calculated the GPM, they claimed they did not. When I asked them to rezone the system, they refused. As a side note, I understand that since the reputation of Waterworks is so bad, he has started a second company with a different name.

BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY. THEY WILL TRY TO UPSELL AND OVERCHARGE YOU. This year, I signed up for Water Works $275/year Service Plan. The plan was to include Startup, Shutdown, replacement of up to 9 heads, and line break repairs for $25/break. A service technician performed the yearly startup and told my wife that one of my zones had a break under a sidewalk and that a special crew needed to repair the issue. When I contacted Water Works to schedule the special crew, they told me that it would cost $550 for them to show up (including the first hour of work) and then $125 for each additional hour. This was expensive, but I didn't have many other choices to get under my sidewalk. The special crew (2 people) arrived at 9:40AM and looked at the issue. The break was not under the sidewalk, but alongside the sidewalk. They repaired the issue by 10:00AM. When I asked they why the startup technician did not find the problem, they could not answer. They offered to inspect the other zones and found a clogged line. Inspection occurred from 10:00AM-10:15AM. They looked for the issue and resolved the clog from 10:15AM-10:45AM. When all was done, they charged me $719 for the 1-hour service call (in addition to the $275 maintenance plan). When I called their office and asked them why I was paying $719 for 2 people for 1 hour of work when their original startup technician should have fixed all of the issues during the startup service, they told me that I knew what the charges were and that was that. BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY. THEY WILL TRY TO UPSELL AND OVERCHARGE YOU.

This was the least expensive of 4 estimates received. However, while the other companies walked the property, took measurements and provided a drawing with proposed placements of the sprinkler heads, this company representative took a very quick look at the yard and front of the house to provide the quote. When asked as to the number of heads he estimated for the job, it was 40-45. The others were 61, 65 and 81 heads.

THEY LEFT THE BACKFLOW PREVENTOR ON OUR GARAGE FLOOR WITHOUT ANY EXPLANATION. AS WE WERE NEW TO THIS HOUSE WE LEFT IT IN THE GARAGE. IT FROZE AND WHEN WE EXPLAINED THE SITUATION TO THEM THEY SAID IT WAS NOT THEIR PROBLEM AND WE HAD TO PAY FOR A NEW ONE.

THEY CUT MY PHONE LINE, WHICH HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED AS OF YET. WHEN I CONTACTED THEM ABOUT THE PROBLEM, THEY WERE COMPLETELY UNAPOLOGETIC, AND OFFERED NO COMPENSATION. THEIR POLICY IS TO CALL THE PHONE COMPANY FOR YOU, BUT TAKE NO OTHER RESPONSIBILITY. EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING
