Our 2 year-old Samsung front loader washer was leaking from under the actual washer unit, just above the pedestal. I couldn't figure out where the leak was originating, but kept on using the washer for a few days since we needed clean clothes . . . and the washer is in our basement, near a floor drain. The water from the leak wasn't really a big deal for us, but the leak shouldn't have been happening. We will be moving in a few months to a new house with a first floor laundry and I figured it would be good to have this leak diagnosed and repaired. I called three local appliance stores since the four place mentioned by Angie's List were much too far away. The first local store didn't handle Samsung, the second didn't answer the phone, but Walton's receptionist answered quickly, and asked me some pertinent questions after I told her what the problem was. She also took my address and phone number, then gave me the name of the technician who would be coming to do the repair. He was busy at that point, so I knew it could be awhile before I heard from him. About two or three hours later the receptionist called again to say that the technician was in our area and asked if it would be O.K. if he came within a few minutes. I said "Yes," and within 3-4 minutes the serviceman was at the back door. He checked the gasket and found that it was fine. Then he checked the filter, discovering the problem. He explained the problem to me and how I could take care of it the next time it happened. Good work and good teaching!
Description of Work: The technician checked the washer's gasket to see if there were any damage there. It was fine. Next he checked the filter area which at first looked fine. But he then discovered two dog hairs which had become caught in the O-ring around the area where the filter screws in and out. He removed these, tested the washer to make sure this was the only problem and found that the leak was gone. Last of all, he explained to me what the problem had been and also told me how to take care of it should this occur again.
