Overall it did not go well. They came out about 2 or 3 months later, and he took some measurements and sent the wrong renderings after a long time. I did not pay anything above the big deal. The price was fair. He could have come prepared, he could have taken measurements and sent me the correct measurements. He took measurements, and he sent me the renderings that did not measure my kitchen.

Over the past 10 years, Marian and First Chicago Remodeling have gut/rehabbed our kitchen and 3 separate bathrooms. The work is always great, the cost is always fair, and things are completed on the promised schedule. If you are considering a renovation, there is no reason to call anyone else. Even a few years after our last project was complete, Marian was generous enough to find time to troubleshoot and repair an electrical problem. Before calling Marian, I had a "handyman" investigate the problem. He spent about 90 minutes reviewing the situation and provided a proposal a $1,200 to fix the problem (this visit cost me $235). In nearly the same amount of time and cost that I spent with the handyman, Marian diagnosed and fixed the problem.

Marian and his team Robert and Peter from First Chicago did an excellent job. They exceeded my expectations of project time to completion and quality of work. Marian was very helpful with guiding me on what I needed to purchase and offered me suggestions of providers he works with along with image renderings of what the new layout of our bathroom would look like it truly helped me make final decisions on materials and style. They also were extremely professional while on the job, and also very clean, at the end of every day while working on our bathroom. My family and I are very happy with our new bathroom. If you are in need of a remodel, call First Chicago they truly offer excellent craftsmanship, attention to detail, at a great price.

Marian and Andy from First Chicago did an excellent job. They surpassed my expectations of project time to completion and quality of work. Not satisfied with drawings.

We had our bathroom remodeled by First Chicago. The job was completed a few months ago. We had a slight problem with the fixture in our shower (the water would not get hot enough). We made 1 text to Marian and he immediately got back to us. He came out to help fix our problem within 3 days. All is fine now!!

We had a bathroom built in the basement over the summer, that was constructed badly. None of the work was up to code, and the contractor disappeared. I began searching on Angie's List -- something I should have done first -- and I found First Chicago Remodeling. I contacted Marian and explained the situation. He immediately set an appointment to assess the situation. Marian was professional, and understanding. He took into consideration that we had just been taken, and we were now in a financial bind because of it. He explained that the entire bathroom would have to be torn down, and rebuilt, because of numerous code violations. Within a few days he contacted us with a proposal that was fair, and discussed the time element involved in getting the work done - and up to code. Marian reassured us that he would do his very best to do the job within our tight budget. The entire project went well. Marian kept us informed during each step of the building process, He answered telephone calls in a reasonable amount of time. He communicated very well. He is a professional who listens to his clients needs and concerns, then works to satisfy them. Finally, the finished bathroom is beautiful, functional, but most importantly, we're now up to code. Marian and his team are very hardworking and diligent. The extra value that you get from Marian more so than from any other contractor are three things. First, he is honest and trustworthy. I have used Marian for several projects over the past 10 years and he has always been reasonable in cost and reliable in performance. Second, he very practical on giving you what you want and you will get it in the most efficient manner (generally saving you money when you want or need to upgrade things). Third, when there are challenges such as when walls are opened up and the electric, plumbing or structure is not how it is supposed to be, he is very creative and will fix the problems for a reasonable upgrade cost. I remember being concerned that the overall project cost seemed expensive. However, when I saw the actual work done each day over several weeks, I really felt we got our money's worth. Marian's workers do good work and do a decent job of trying to be neat and clean up after each day though there is no escaping some dust you'll have to clean up on weekends. My wife and I have been very happy with Marian's work over the past 10 years. His services are in demand so you may have to wait a bit before he can start your project. However, he is worth the wait and it gives you time to make sure you have all the supplies and parts ordered correctly in advance.

Marian was an excellent project manager in addition to actively participating in the work. He?s timelines are rarely off and the work always well executed. He makes smart suggestions and recommendations and the outcome is always good.

Somewhat of a language issue. Seemed confused as to what we wanted. Called us a few weeks later (by accident). I'm not sure that he really wanted the job.

We discovered our water heater was leaking into our downstairs neighbor unit on a Friday. We called First Chicago and Marian gave us a rough estimate over the phone as he was familiar with our unit due to prior work. He came out the following Monday with another associate right on time. They started the work at 9am, and the job was originally quoted around 3-4 hours due to the awkwardness of where our water heater was in our unit. Our condo building is about 20 years old, and the water heater was tucked in a tiny space underneath the stairs with furnace equipment and pipes surround it. The team needed to cut out and redo most of the gas line and furnace pipes in order to get the old water heater out and new water heater in. Marian detailed everything they were going to do, and called us to discuss options on heaters when he ran to the store to pick up the new water heater. They were very neat, courteous, and cleaned up the work space when they left. The entire job ended up taking about 6 hrs due to the extensive modifications they needed to do in the tiny workspace. No leaks since, and the new water heater works much better than the old one - more hot water for a longer period of time! I highly recommend Marian and his team - he's redone our kitchen, two bathrooms, and performed water damage repairs.

The project went very well. I live in a bungalow built in 1926.The demolishing of the bathroom was a very difficult job---the tiles were embedded in three inches of concrete. Marian and his team did an excellent job of getting it done. They had to use a sledgehammer to get the concrete out and ended up with two and a half tons of debris which they quickly cleared away. Marian did an excellent job on all the electrical and plumbing work and Robert was an expert at painting . They installed new walls, a new cast iron bathtub, shower, vanity, toilet, closet and floor. Also they worked with a stone company to install a slab of stone as an apron for the bath, a stone shelf and a stone top for the vanity. It was done neatly and perfectly. Marian is a true professional. He was on the job every day that his presence was required. He kept watch over everything. And he problem solved whenever we ran into difficulties with the design of the project. There were a couple of times when I was worried that we had a big problem and he came up with a solution that worked. It is amazing how many things he does well. Also, it was a pleasure to have him and his team in the house. I was home for a good part of the work and the team was pleasant, friendly, warm and easy to have around. They were not at all intrusive and just focused on doing their work. I used an architect for the design of the bathroom. But when there were issues with the design Marian was able to give advise that worked out beautifully. Even though I didn't hire him to design the bathroom I would say that he would be more than capable of doing that job as well. We have had some problems with the items we ordered for the bathroom (vanity and toilet) that were problems with the items themselves and not with the installation. Even so, Marian came back and redid what needed to be done, and at no extra charge. Also, we didn't have everything we needed to install before the job was over. This too Marian came back to do, even though it involved a long drive. It is a pleasure to be able to recommend someone this unequivocally. I think the best way to express my evaluation of his work is to let you know that I have arranged for him to come back in the fall to do the other bathroom!

I think he's a nice person and gave me a nice print out of the kitchen remodeling. I was a little hesitant because he only threw in the labor part, and it was pretty general, so I don't think he was thorough enough, and I probably won't go with him. He showed up on time.

They were very nice, responsive, and professional. The timing of the deal just didn't work out.

When I purchased this Big Deal, I sent out possible dates, giving them 4-5 dates I wanted them to come out, all of which were before noon. They said that I would have to give them a time later in the day, which I thought was odd for business hours. We finally agreed on a meeting between 7:00 and 7:30 pm. He did not show up or call, and when I reached out to him he finally called back and informed me that he was held on another job. I would have expected a courtesy call. I decided to not use this provider at this point.

We called FCR(Marian) for a kitchen remodeling quote after reading reviews on Angie list. He very well explained the work involved and gave us an estimate. We already contacted nine other contractors for this kitchen remodeling project and know the ball park range. Marian estimate was little higher but we did like his work when he showed us the photos and talked about his work knowledge. At the end, FCR was on top two on our list. But we selected another contractor who we think has a much reasonable quote and high quality of service(again via Angie list). Marian didn't work at our place but I am confident he is a good contractor. If his quote was little more competitive we would definitely go with him. We are very happy with the selection of our contractor and work will start in mid March.

Marian renovated a bathroom for us previously so we knew the quality of his work. When this project was finished, we were very pleased with the overall product. There were times during the renovation when I was dissatisfied with some of the detail work both on the part of Marian and the crew. However, whatever minor dissatisfaction exists, Marian always listens and modifies whatever needs to be done until the client feels the work is of the quality expected. Marian has a very good understanding of the needs of the client and works to achieve those goals.

This is the second time we used First Chicago which shows that we were very happy with his services the first time. This experience was the same - he's professional, does a great job (no short cuts or patching over a problem), is hard working, he's reasonably priced and Marian's a downright nice guy to work with. You almost don't know that he and his crew are in your home. They tidy up each night. We plan on using Marian's services again in the future and have a great 2nd bathroom thanks to First Chicago.

He quoted a fair price and completed the job on budget and in less time than quoted. He explained the whole process and told me what materials I had to supply. He was punctual and neat & cleaned up after. There was less of a mess than I anticipated. Excellent workmanship and he included some extras that were not in the original estimate but it make the job look better. I would definitely hire him again.

They took out the bathtub and took out all the tile and walls. Replace them with the proper wall boards and replace the tile. Installed the base, the shower head and faucet. Installed the bench and the glass doors.

Marian & Co did a very professional job. The price was very reasonable and the job was completed in a timely manner. There were few situations where his innovative solutions saved us a lot of money. Overall we couldnt have been more happier with the final work.

Prices are fair and comparable to other contractors, hence the B grade, but the level of service is beyond others. FCR makes no compromises with its reputation. We will continue to use them as long as we can. We don't worry or think twice. We just call them.
