They're basically, in terms of service an A. In terms of cost, I would probably put them down at a C or something 'cause they were very expensive but I think it really is a quality service. They're very professional. I honestly believe though, I don't believe they're over priced. I just believe that their price is more consistent with a half million dollar home or a million dollar home not for an ordinary home.
Description of Work: I had asked Duane Blanton Plumbing, Sewer & Drainage, Inc about how much it would cost to replace the toilet.

The coupon said they would come the day a person called. I called at 10 am and by noon someone had arrived. They checked out my water heater to make sure everything was working properly. He took the insulation off and said that it felt fine. I did this because the woman upstairs said her hot water was not working. He went up the stairs to her apartment to check on hers as well. He explained to us both that it can take a while in the winter for the water to heat up from downstairs to up. The company was excellent I called them for a bid on a bigger job. They did the jack hammering and replacement of the stuff.
Description of Work: Patrick checked on my water heater and also did a bigger job for me later on.

I purchased the big deal $50 credit for $25 so total price I paid after the voucher was 129.63. I misunderstood the deal as it stated $50 for drain cleaning and I thought this was going to be the total cost. I was wrong, just so others don't make the same mistake. Seemed like quite a bit for 15 minutes of work but from my research of what the average plumber charges for Roding it seems fair. Ed came in and took a look at the bathtub and said he could rod it as I did not know what was wrong with it for sure. He roded it and now it drains faster than most drains in my house. I don't know what was down there as this house was a rehab and is a guest bathroom that barely get used but whatever it was it is gone now. Ed put on sock protectors to protect the floors of my house which I did notice and appreciate. He fixed the problem which is exactly what I hired him for. He could not provide me with an estimate on an issue I have going on in the basement which was disappointing. He said they give free estimates but I don?t want to have to take off another day of work to just have an estimate done. Like I said he fixed the problem and did a good job doing it.

It went horribly. The clog became apparent over the Thanksgiving holiday. This was the first company to respond to my messages out of the five I called that offered 24/7 assistance. So, I had them come out. We already figured out where the clog was as our kitchen drained just fine. The plug was in the sewer line that came from the bathroom drains to the line that lead out of the house. It was easily accessible from the basement as it was in the basement ceiling, or they could go down the toilet. The first team of a couple of guys came out and totally ignored my telling them where the clog was and proceeded to snake the line going outside, the one that wasn't clogged, and then told me it wasn't clogged and was going to cost me $400. Then they proceeded to tell me that my bathroom line was backpitched, the clogged one they didn't snake, and offered to fix it for $2700 the same day. When I protested they offered to include the snaking that didn't fix anything in the pricing. I then saw a third guy come out of the van. They all went outside and sent in the old timer who stated they brought the young guy for stuff like this because they were injured or too old to do it themselves but they were 'Master Plumbers' and licensed to do the work. He also stated that to do work inside a house one had to be licensed. We told them we'd think about it and I started calling other plumbers immediately. I also called their office and told them that the guys they sent didn't do the job and were full of sh*t. The owner agreed to send someone else out to snake the pipe the first guys didn't snake, where the clog was. The second guy came out and tried to BS us to cover the first guys but did snake the pipe we wanted for $150, as the owner was willing to match a phone quote from someone else to fix this mess. The second guy then wrote up the invoice showing he removed the toilet when we removed it ourselves before he was even in the house, we brought it up and he said he put it back on. I've never felt so raped in my life. Whether the pipe is back pitched, we'll see. I have four plumbers we trust coming Mon and Tue for opinions and quotes but while the second guy was here I had one plumber tell me to get him the HE** out of our house when I told him the pricing they gave us to fix it. The ones I called all said around $1k to fix, these guys came down to $2500. I wonder how many guys they had hidden in the truck this second time. Pure chaos and emotional distress. Stay far away from them. I also found out the City of Racine has multiple complaints against this company. 12/2/13: We just found out they are not even licensed in the state of Wisconsin. DO NOT CALL THEM! 12/5/13: Update, spoke to owner who is not licensed in WI. He states he's not but some of his employees are. Ask to see the employee's license before they start any work. Also, the guy who came to fix the plumbing the second time, on a manager's request, did not even install the toilet properly and that leaked at the wax seal. WE had to fix this so called licensed plumber's installation! That is a fact!

It went great, the guy that came was knowledgeable and courteous. He took a look at the problem and knew right away that something had to be blocking the drain. The sink never really worked so we figured it was some sort of other issue. He rodded out the drain and he was dead on, sink works great. He gave my husband some tips on what he could do to the sink to save us some cash and he was right. There was no sign on him being there after he was done and the sink works perfectly.

It went terrible. They did not camera the sewer and put in an access in my front yard. There is no way that I would be able to find the access. When I called the guy and told him that he I would have to call them and they would have to come back and do it for me. They said they went out to the main line, but I say they did not. He claimed they did. When I called the guy back and he said there was nothing they could do about it. He said if I wanted them to come back I would have to pay for another service call. The guy finally agreed to send another guy out early the next week.

From the 1st moment of contact through the entire process it was a pleasure. Everything was explained and spelled out. Would and will highly recommend them.

The technician was friendly, prompt, and knowledgeable. They came in, I explained the situation and they fixed it within an hour. My only issue was they brought a second technician, I am assuming for training purposes. I would have no problem with that, but I felt the cost to fix was excessive. The technician went off a chart supplied to him for the service, so it was not the technician, but my assumption would be that the cost in total for the repair would include travel cost, labor, material and the like for an entire trip. To double it for a second cartridge would be excessive as they are already here, in the same bathroom, with the same part. I would assume the second charge would be the same if they had to make 2 calls for the same repair, because they would have to drive all the way back to the shop to get a second part, drive all the way back to the site and replace it. However, when you have the parts in the truck to replace, and I explained over the phone exactly what the problem ended up being, so you would know exactly what was needed, I think doubling the charge is excessive.

Ron was great. He was the nicest guy I've ever had over to do work. He was professional, friendly, and neat. I knew he was solid because he put on blue booties to come in and, after greeting my dog, told me he also had a rescue dog. After surveying the sinks, he explained everything that was involved in the job when preparing the estimate. Honestly, I felt the initial figure was high and freely admitted that I was probably unreasonably optimistic about what it would add up to. Ron was able to rework things a bit and I was able to use a "buy it now" deal ($119 for $200 worth of work) via Angie's List to get the number closer to what I had been hoping for. Given the care with which Ron did the work and cleaned up, I thought it was well worth it. I should also note that the job was kind of urgent in that I wanted it done by that afternoon because my wife and son were flying home Monday afternoon. I reached out to 3-4 places via Angie's List on the preceding Thursday and Duane Blanton was the only one that could get me on the calendar for Monday morning.

It was good. The guy was very pleasant and professional. He did what he had to do. He showed me what he was doing. Everything was clean when he left. It was great. The part that surprised me was that the deal I bought said for about $50. When he got here, he says, "Well, we charge $260" to clean out the trap or whatever it was from the house to the main line of the house. So he deducted the $50 off of that and I ended up still paying two hundred and some dollars. I don't know what he would've done if I'd said, "Well no, I'm not going to do it." "Well, then what is your $50 for?" That's the part I don't understand. Like what if he'd said, "Well, for us to come out, that's the $50." Otherwise, as long as I paid it, everything was fine. It's just I didn't like the idea that I thought it was $50 that was what he was going to charge and that was it. They were courteous.

I was surprised how quickly they were able to schedule me (within two hours of my call). The service provider was excellent - he explained everything and did a great job. I was very pleased with the service. I was hoping the service would have all been covered by their "big deal" but I did have to pay and extra $118 due to the strainer basket and the rodding (extra cost). Their fees seemed reasonable and I really wanted to get my sink back operational! I would recommend them to friends and family.

called on a Sunday afternoon when the sewer backed up. Answering service was efficient and friendly. Received a call back in about ten minutes. Again efficient and friendly. Patrick was at the door an hour later. He took a few minutes to ask questions and and look things over gave me a price and went right to work. Rodded out the line. Made sure it was clear. Cleaned up after himself. Before he left he gave me a quote for work to fix the back up problem permanently, which is half of other quotes received.

We came home on a Saturday afternoon to find that our garage had a leak and some of our belongings were getting wet. I went on Angie's List right away to find a plumber. I called them up and they said that they work Saturdays, plus they do not charge extra for coming on the weekends. They also said they would give us a discount for using being an Angie's list member. Matt and his co worker came out and found out why our ceiling was leaking. He did a thorough job of inspecting everything and even found a different leak under our sink that we didn't know about. They referred us to a furnace company and also a carpenter because our drywall will need to be replaced. They both were very friendly guys, very informative, and they cleaned up after taking down some drywall in the garage.

I called on a Wednesday morning and they were able to have somebody out at noon the next day. Herbert was very courteous and professional. After a quick assessment, he showed me a price chart for the services provided, tiered by the level of service and type of drain. He recommended a tier of service that seemed overpriced (over $450). I frankly (but not impolitely) told him that if I’d known it would be that much I would not have had even bothered bringing him out, and told him that my expectation for the cost of the job was in the range of $150-$250 on the basis of my reading. He was receptive to that and he offered to try a lower (basic) tier of drain clearing that was in that range, and see if it worked and if it didn't we could go from there. I agreed and we went forward. He brought in an electric auger (and a carpet to set it on, nice touch) set it up by the sink, took apart a few pipes and went to work. After about 15 minutes of grinding, called me in to show me the grease on the auger and he suggested the more expensive service again to get rid of built up grease, but I declined. So he put things back together and ran some water and it was working, no problem, so he was done. He gave me some good advice on keeping it clear in the future. He cleaned up thoroughly and was out the door in 10 minutes or so; the whole thing took under one hour. Not long after he left, the office called to see if I was satisfied. I was (and appreciated that kind of follow-through).

They did a great job. Like I said, it was last minute and they were able to schedule us for that day ( a Saturday). I think they might be a little pricier than other plumbers out there but I believe that you get what you pay for, and Blanton did a great job so I'm willing to pay a little bit more for their service.

I had a leak in the bathroom upstairs which caused water on the ceiling downstairs. I called the company. They determined that my old water heater needed replaced. It seemed as though the new water heater was installed improperly. A huge flood that damaged my cabinets resulted. I called and they came back out, found no problems, and left. My tenant investigated further and discovered that a part was not installed properly. After being notified of this, they did come out and fix it. But, the overall customer service was very poor. They never apologized or initiated any contact with me. It was a very bad experience. update on 7/18/2013: Well, the owner's response missed a important part: It was the improper installation of the new water heater that caused the leakage the 2nd time, and the fact that they were not able to idenfiied the installation flaw and it was my tennat who found the problem, really upset me. Oh, forget to mention, they dig a huge hole on my kitchen ceiling for leakage diganosis, which costed me 450usd to fix it, now i start to wonder is that really necessary since my old water heater was bad.

Response from Duane Blanton Plumbing, Sewer & Drainage Inc.
In response to this customer’s review, our records indicate that the customer called on April 10, 2012, and complained of a leak in their ceiling prior to our company doing any service at this location. We determined the customer needed a new water heater and we provided service to replace the old water heater with a new one. The customer called back more than a month later complaining of a leak in their ceiling and we returned at no charge to the customer. Our technician found no leaks to the water heater and in addition at no cost to the customer further tested the tub, lav sink, washing machine and floor drain and found no leaks. Our technician left a recommendation to have the washing machine checked by an appliance repair company. There was no indication of a leak from the water heater.
