Overpriced and untrustworthy. They charge $200 an hour and will still bill you if they stand around and do nothing. Got charged $400 for them to sit in their vehicle. Then they left and didn't do any work! Came back a 2nd time told me they fixed everything but there were still leaks. Came back again. Fixed the "leaks they missed last time" then took down one of the walls saying "There is a leak behind it" but there wasn't any?! Got charged for that. After all the bs the total was over $2,000 and this was done to a struggling single mother with 2 teenagers. Disgusting....

I called Aleck Plumbing in a week ago to unstop a backed up toilet. The job was done quickly and efficiently, I thought. Today, 6 days later, I had the same problem. Problem solved again. However, I was also charged again because they say they don't warrant unclogging toilets. They are pricey and with this policy, I will not be calling again.

We've been using Aleck plumbing for 30 years now, and they always do great work. In the past two months we've had them out three times. Once for a leaking outdoor faucet, once to install a new toilet and once today to repair a leaking pipe in our basement. In all three cases the workers that came out were very professional and did great work. However Joe Gabel went above and beyond. You can tell that he takes great pride in his work and is not satisfied unless the job is done right. From now on we are going to request Joe for service. Great work Joe!!! John and Janet Schmidt

Arrived on time, repaired pump and replaced pipe in sub-zero windchill weather. Ed expained clearly what occurred and assisted me to locate a cleanup service. This is my second time using this company...quality and professional service each time! They are a bit expensive but worth the extra costs.

Aleck Plumbing was very professional and courteous. The plumber who came to service us was named Ron and he was very knowledgeable and extremely helpful. He went above and beyond to help us out even when he really didn't have to. Their prices are a bit on the high end, but they carry high quality stuff. I would recommend Aleck Plumbing if you are looking for a no fuzz job well done, punctual and want high quality work.

Because their charge is so high just for an estimate we won't consider working with this company.

It went great! As I requested, they actually removed the stopper (which is screwed in from under the sink) so I could insert a screen to catch debris. I've asked numerous plumbers to remove the stopper and I'm always told to do it myself. If I could do it myself, I wouldn't ask. So I'm a happy Aleck Plumbing customer...thanks for listening!

Fast response, no mess, quick work.

One person came to complete the service. It took him less than 30 minutes. He left the area clean. They figured out my problem quickly and we adjusted for it.

Pricey indeed!!!! However, many times in life you get what you pay for, and this is definitely one of those instances. Way too many hacks and fly-by-night plumbers/handymen who think they know plumbing - Aleck Plumbing knows plumbing! I received two other estimates for the listed work, both of which were substantially lower than Aleck. However, neither plumber (one licensed in IL) never heard of the Zoeller alternating sump switch that Aleck recommended. The licensed guy called and said that the pumps Aleck recommended would not work with the alternating switch and that way more expensive pumps were req'd, and that I should just keep the same "elevated" back-up pump format that I had done 7 years ago. I called Zoeller to ask them about the pumps and turns out Aleck knew exactly what they were talking about. This spoke volumes to me......Aleck is a union shop, thus more expensive than most others, but they know exactly what they're doing. Obviously piece of mind is important to me, as there are two types of basements - wet basements and those that are going to be wet! I prefer the latter! I will now retain Aleck as the plumber for all jobs here, as their knowledge and workmanship is key. They explained why Bradford White is superior to Rheem (made in Mexico while Bradford in MI) in its construction and function, and why they use the manufactures they do. I would recommend them to anyone.

Based on how the water sounded running into my sump (different than normal) after recent heavy sleet and rain, I was concerned that the sewer line from my house to the sewer intersection had clogged up with tree roots and the pipe was on verge of being totally clogged. I was due to have the line rodded out this coming spring. I wasn't impressed with the plumbing company I had been using, so I looked on Angie's List and found Aleck Plumbing with good reviews. The plumber started by rodding back from the outside access pipe toward the house and found that the line was partially clogged with old tree roots. He ground them out and found since the water hadn't been flowing freely, the pipe was gradually filling up sludge and on the verge of being totally clogged. Apparently the plumbing company I was previously using wasn't bothering to rod back toward the house. The plumber got everything flowing well and then finished off by rodding from the outside access toward the street and sewer intersection. The plumber who came was obviously knowledgeable and thorough. Also very nice and informative. Would definitely use for any future plumbing service needs.

This company is fantastic. The 2 man team arrived on the set day on time and all smiles. They cut, removed and disposed of all galvanized water lines and installed new copper line pipes.They also replaced outside sillcocks and piping that leaked like "Katrina" when turned on. Installed new basement fixtures and numerous valves for easy future remodels Replaced 50 year old builder errors, and repaired previous owner mistakes. Water pressure difference is very significant. Total clean up of all debris. Overhead pipes clamped and secure.The finished job is very neat and looks better than when house was built. I have no more fears of returning home to leaking pipes."Cadillac Plumbers", I am well pleased.
