Jan 2015 - No Mice left. Everything went well and I appreciated their service. Update - May 2015. The service provider set wire around all exterior vents that was meant to keep mice out. I had a larger vent that was covered. A raccoon clawed back the mesh and got into my roof above my sun-room. After calling the Rat Patrol, they mentioned that their work and warranty only covered mice and that they do not do raccoon removal. This problem would not be covered by their warranty. I completely understand the warranty issue with the Rat Patrol. I wish that they would have used a better gauge wire to cover larger openings where larger animals can get through. Seriously this would have saved me about $1000-1500 in cost to fix this problem. Heck, I would have paid more to have the thicker gauge wire installed. To top things off, when I called their recommended company to take care of the raccoon problem, the other provider was shocked to hear that the Rat Patrol would not help me out. On their website: [web link removed] they show that they handle raccoon problems as well. I feel like I have been lied to. Seriously these guys do good work but in terms of customer service they are a joke. This may have been a one off problem, but I paid them $1400 of my hard earned money to handle a problem and prevent future ones. After looking at their website and also from what the other service provider told me I hate to recommend using this company to anyone. BUYER BEWARE!!!
Description of Work: Set bait for mice, installed flashing underneath siding on the house, put wire around all exterior vents.

Professional - concerned that bats not be trapped/entombed, thorough, friendly, and no more bats. $1800 is a lot of money, though the results speak for themselves. It was worth the price to no longer have bats flying around the house bombing the walls and television with guano. These are the people I will call if I have further problems.
Description of Work: Located SEVEN bat entry points, installed reverse trap doors to exclude bats once they had flown out, 2 weeks later (to ensure all bats were out) sealed entry points, cleaned out "roosts" and excrement, sanitized.

At the next and last visit, the guy who came was great. He patched up all of the potential entryways for mice and even added a metal strip on the corner of our house where woodpeckers had been making holes.
Description of Work: We had been hearing noises in our wall. They came out and assessed our situation by description and by walking the inside and outside of our home. They could not hear the sounds, as it was only during the night that we heard them. (If you feed finches with Nijer seed, make sure to tell them: it looks a lot like mouse poop.) At the first visit we paid half of the fee and the man (sorry, I can't remember his name), placed a substance in all of the indoor and outdoor nooks and crannies, then we planned the followup.

We showed him the evidence in our basement that mice were there. He looked at our siding and other potential places outside where mice could enter the house. He takes the approach to seal up the whole house rather than look at where the mice are coming in from and sealing up those isolated spots are.
Description of Work: The contractor came to our home and told us how he would rid our home of mice and then seal off the house to prevent them from returning. What he was offering sounded like it would be very effective. However, we were not prepared to pay the $1200 for the service. We basically paid $29 for him to come to our house to pitch his method.

I thought the Rat Patrol was a big rip off. It is a company like many others, have developed a system whereby they claim to exclude mice from your house. It is a fairly big deal, and they want close to $1000 for it. They give you a sales pitch along that. The guy walked around the house, but I don't think he knew what he was looking for. He was just a sales guys, and they charged me $30 for a sales trip. I can buy a mouse trap for less than a buck, and will not spend $1000. They guaranty this for a year. A couple of years ago I had a man come in and he also pointed out where the mice were coming in from, and he also climbed in the attic and he wasn't all that expensive, but he did what he promised, and there was no sales involved. This one just cost a lot of money, and it doesn't look like very safe.
Description of Work: I had purchased a big deal for The Rat Patrol of Illinois. They were going to do some mice control, where they spray some stuff all over your house where they guarantee that rodents don't get in.

Had to call 3 times before I talked to someone. Jerry was kind enough to inform me that the nature of my problem was not something that he could take care of. Suggested using a product called "critter ridder" to try to deter the chipmunks to go elsewhere. He was very professional and a pleasure to deal with.

One employee came to assess the work needed. A contract was written for the work and another employee came on schedule to do the job. The outdoor temperatures were very warm and humid on the day of caulking. There were areas between where the roof and brick meet which had 2 -3 inch globs of caulking oozing out, noticeable the next day. It was also noticed that screening had not been placed on roof vents, as stated in the contract. A call was made and another time was set to complete the work. The same employee came and cut off excess caulk, put wire mesh in where gaps needed filling and placed screen over roof vents. Since the contact was written, we have one year to see that there is no more rodent activity. I have found two expired mice at the front of the house since the sealing was done. The employees who visited the house were courteous, and acted in a professional manner. With a one year contract, the quality of work will be evaluated over the period of time. I feel that the price is pretty hefty for an exclusion of rodents, but a promise made to seal the mice out should be worthwhile. This being said, I feel that there shouldn't have been a need to point out that roof vents weren't screened, if these are typical entry points. And if the size of the gap between the roof and brick meeting is large, more screen mesh should be used, in place of large amounts of caulking. If weather is a factor in the caulking, consideration and adjustments are needed.
Description of Work: The idea of treatment is to set bait in the attic, wait 10 days while mice should be taking the bait and leaving to get water, and then seal off the exterior of the home. The next step then is for a sanitizing fog to be released into the attic to clean and remove animal scent.

Very courteous and professional gentleman who came out and gave me the estimate and detailed summary of all the things that must be done to get rid of my mice as well as keep them gone. Estimate was $1,300 for all the necessary work if I wanted to go for it. That included Sealing around all the doors, all the wholes around foundation and cracks in cement. Putting steel wool in all the vents and killing all mice and fumigating attic. I didn't think the estimate was too high for all the work they were going to do. I just decided that it was currently not in the budget when I have other major work that's needed like a falling down chimney.
Description of Work: Wrote up a detailed report that described everything necessary to kill mice and prevent them from coming in for a lifetime. Great suggestions and things I never realized like mice can come in through roof vents. I chose not to go with the whole package with the lifetime guarantee at this time because cost was out of my budget. I appreciated the honesty and no hard pressure sales tactics use.

We have been having squirrel problems for a few years in our front soffit and we began hearing them vigorously chewing on two-by-fours every night. We had finally had enough one night when the chewing became so loud I couldn't sleep! I called some other companies and they refused to do any additional work to seal up the house unless we also hired them to trap the squirrels. We have been through this before and it is a complete waste of time. I can trap the squirrels myself for free. These companies want $125 every time they trap a squirrel....what a ripoff. So.....After trapping approximately 10 squirrels myself and handing them over to a licensed "squirrel lady" over a period of about 6 weeks, we finally felt ready to seal everything up. I called The Rat Patrol and Jerry was VERY professional and came out right away and I could tell he knew what he was talking about. He told me he would seal everything up with steel (painted white to match our trim) and then just to make sure there were no squirrels trapped inside, he would put a one way excluder up for a few days. NO ONE ever suggested this before and believe me, we have talked with plenty of other companies over the past few years. By the way, we even had a siding company come out (Andy's Custom Gutters) last year and they said they would make sure everything was sealed up....they ended up doing a really shoddy job and didn't even complete the work. Jerry and his Rat Patrol team ended up fixing everything that Andrea and her team did wrong. He pointed out all of the places where the work was either not done or not done correctly. He was extremely thorough. Jerry did not do the actual work but sent a gentleman by the name of Brian....and also Len, I believe. After they did the initial seal up and put up the excluder, they said they would be back in about 4 days to remove the excluder and button everything up. In the meantime, my husband noticed some things he didn't like about the way they used too many sections for the front of our house (it looks noticeable when there are too many cuts used). Anyway, I called Brian, he came out and he agreed with me right away and worked with us to come up with a great solution to make it look great. He ended up re-covering of the front with fewer sections and made sure it was all great looking. Brian is really polite and wanted to make sure I was happy! We are extremely pleased and would definitely recommend them to others. Price fair, very professional, on time, and thorough!

We had a family of skunks move in under our deck. The odor was overwhelming, especially in our family room and basement. Jerry came over and assessed the situation. Two of his workers showed up and dug a 1 1/2-2 foot trench around the perimeter of our deck and installed thick steel mesh then covered it back up with dirt. They installed a one way trap for the skunks to leave and in a week came back and removed the trap and sealed the opening. So far no problems and I'm not anticipating any. This is the second time I have used this service. They are very professional and really know their business. I had a minor problem with mice in the basement and attic about 7 years ago. Called them and they came out and mouse proofed the house and we have never had another issue with mice. This company is the best.

I had already had two "critter groups" try to figure out what was in our walls both complete failures. I called Rat Patrol and Jerry was at our home the next day (Sunday no less) assessed the situation and had his crew out the next week. They cleared up the problem in 1 week something that had dragged on for 3 months. I highly recommend this company though a bit on the expensive side they did as they promised and we have squirrels no more.

Jerry was attentive from the beginning. I have a phobia of bats and our new home had a colony of bats roosting in the front entryway. Jerry and his team placed the cage eliminators, cleaned all areas, and caulked the entire house to prevent reentry. I would call daily if I saw evidence of any bat activity outside on the porch. They stopped by to check the progress constantly and Jerry was always available. Jerrry guarantees their work and he was a pleasure to work with. I would highly recommend Rat Patrol for their outstanding service and communication.

I was not present when the work was done. Time will tell if the rats are gone. I can say that I used them four years ago and their work was successful at getting rid of the rat problem in another area of the property.
Description of Work: Service is in two stages. First they put down rat bate. Then they come back a few weeks later and dig around the garage a certain amount down and put in steel plates to keep the rats from coming back in under the cement slab (the floor of the garage.) they also cement any openings where the garage door meets the floor of the garage.
