Communication between sales and delivery was terrible. We said from the get-go that streets are narrow where we live -- no big trucks! No problem, said the salesman, we'll send a small one. Not once but twice they sent a large truck that couldn't make it. On the third try tile did arrive but with only the driver, so the 64-yr-old customer (me) had to help unload 34 very heavy cartons of floor tile and, worse, there was none of the light-colored tile we'd ordered and twice as much dark. Great Indoors blamed Emser, the manufacturer, but the color names are printed in big letters on the outside of the cartons. By this time I wasn't surprised that they didn't check the cartons against the order form before delivery. And of course when the light-colored tile finally arrived, it was short a few pieces. Throughout the ordeal there were lots of profuse apologies in the store and on the phone but Great Indoors never offered compensation of any sort. The last time I spoke to our salesman he said he was quitting to take a tap-dancing job in China, which seemed a fitting wrap-up to an absurd drama.
Description of Work: It was supposed to be simple. They deliver the tile we ordered and paid for. We might have done a little better on price elsewhere, but with various discounts they were okay and we figured that with a Sears-backed operation we would be getting reliability.

I always had to call them to get an up-date on project and make an appointment to review plans. The first designer was rude and always in a hurry, I asked for another designer and he had some good ideas and was pleasant to work with, but again he did not take the initiative to contact me. So by April 15th, I undertook finding all the individual contractors I needed and my project started 5-18-10. The company lost out on about $50,000 by not following thru, to date I have not heard from anyone at that store. I can say that I did receive my $100 worth in drawings that they printed out for me, but they could have had so much more of my money if they just had paid attention to their business.
Description of Work: Signed on for their design service for $100, they made an appointment that had to be cancelled and re-scheduled to measure my kithcen and laundry. I was told I would hear from them in 2 weeks with a proposal for redoing EVERYTHING, new cabinets, counters and 2 new appliances, total of my estimate of job would be $50,000

We never went into the actual store. Instead, we called them and asked them about a certain model and wondered what the price would be. The gentlemen we talked to on the phone called us back and told us we could get them both below the price on the internet. Of course we took the offer and so far I am loving my new washer and dryer and haven't had any problems.
Description of Work: We bought our washer and dryer from them.

Terrible. They forgot or otherwise didn't communicate with the warehouse or the installation company as to where the dishwasher was. The finger pointing started with a call from me to the store when the installation guy came and there was no dishwasher. I eventually had to pick up the dishwasher myself and reschedule the install myself as The Great Indoors was busy making excuses.
Description of Work: I purhchased a new dishwasher from this store along with installation from a 3rd party. The Great Indoors was happy to take my money and from then on completely screw up the scheduling, delivery, rescheduling and installation.

They did a pretty good job. They had to work around some cabinets in order to install them correctly and they did the job very neatly. They were very professional answering any questions I had and took my suggestions very politely. The whole experience was very satisfying for me, I recommend these guys to anybody.
Description of Work: They installed a dishwasher and an oven in my kitchen.

Miserable. Capital M. Nice enough people, but care-less. Did not follow through. Poor communication. Tried to sell us twice the carpet we needed. Tried to get creative with the numbers we were originally quoted. We had to do most of the work to get them to come out and measure (twice), send us a bid (twice), get them to schedule the job, show up when they scheduled the job, bring the carpet ready to install (they assumed incorrectly they would have a large work area to cut and fabricate the carpet). They were sent away the first time they came to install, since the carpet wasn't cut properly or bound on the edges for a runner. They thought they would just "fold it under" to make an edge. They then show up, unscheduled one day a week later to install, a portion of which is crooked to this day, because it was not properly measured and cut during the THREE visits, they made to our house. It goes on and on. Avoid like the plague. Inept--from showroom to installers.
Description of Work: Purchase and Installed carpet runner on 4 flights of stairs.

THE GREAT INDOORS WAS PLEASANT TO WORK WITH, BUT THE SUBCONTRACTORS THAT THEY HIRED WAS NOT. IT TOOK MORE THAN TWICE AS LONG AS WHAT THEY SAID, AND THEY NEVER CAME BACK TO FIX A PROBLEM THAT WE HAD. WE HAD TO HAVE SOMEONE ELSE COME, AND FIX THEIR MISTAKES.
Description of Work: WE CHANGED OUR ENTIRE COUNTER TOP. NEW STOVE, AND NEW SINK.
