I had a positive experience communicating with my MiniMoves reps through the booking process and after my belongings were picked up when I needed to put everything into storage with MiniMoves at the last minute. They were accommodating at every step along the way. I would definitely use MiniMoves again for a future move! Amazing company and all around great expierence
Description of Work: I used MiniMoves for a small apartment move from San Diego to D.C. and had a very positive experience, from my initial conversations to finalize a quote until the day my belongings were delivered. On both ends, the movers arrived promptly within the designated window (for my move-in they even arrived early) and worked quickly but with care. For my move-out, all of my furniture was wrapped securely to my liking and I had no concerns that my boxes containing breakables would be thrown around.

I moved several large and bulky pieces of furniture locally from one part of Fair Oaks to another. The company was great about scheduling a next-day move due to a last minute opening in my schedule. I used their website for a free quote without difficulty. The movers themselves were professional and timely. There was no damage to any of the objects in the process. Would highly recommend MiniMoves and will be using them again when the need arises.

From the moment I was referred to MiniMoves from another moving company (too big for our move) I was treated incredibly well. Steve took my initial call, answered my hundreds of questions via phone and email and always got back to me super-fast. He took a thorough quote, we adjusted it as necessary and still ended up being a bit less once everything was packed and loaded onto the truck. We used MiniMoves from Chicago to LA and had them pack up our apartment and bring everything west. The entire process took 2 weeks and they kept me informed of where my stuff was. This move did not go well. As luck would have it, we engaged two mini-moving concerns at the same time for two different moves so we had the advantageous viewpoint of a direct comparison between two companies providing the same service. The other company (of Pultneyville, NY) was quicker, cheaper and delivered our load intact and in pristine condition even though they had a longer distance to travel (Colorado to North Carolina). Mini-Moves was slow to pick up, slow to deliver and when our load arrived it looked like it had been tumbled around in a giant drying machine. The boxes were dented, ripped, squashed-in and scuffed up. Our bed & frame was a total loss: broken in places, cracked in others and missing much of the hardware need to reassemble the frame back together.
Description of Work: MiniMoves of Hillside, IL was asked to move the contents of a studio apartment from Connecticut to North Carolina.

Unfortunately, particle board furniture doesn't have the longevity of other types of wood and can become easily damaged, but our insurance company did cover for the damage that was caused and you were refunded $1869.15, the original price you paid for the bed back in 2014. I understand you feel the move was slower than what you would have preferred but the pickup and drop off was within our agreed upon timeframe. I've never encountered a company that had more trouble with their own paperwork. (1) it took them a full WEEK (with innumerable emails back and forth) for them to correct the errors they'd made in phone numbers for the recipients (honestly, how hard is it to cut and paste phone numbers from an email?). (2) They sent me the identical paperwork five different times (identical addressees), instead of sending me five different sets of paperwork. When I called and emailed them to notify them of this, they offered to have an IT person "walk me through the paperwork". Fine, I said - just please first send me the correct paperwork. When the IT person called me (an hour after the mutually agreed-upon time), they still hadn't sent the correct paperwork. The IT person's version of "helping" me was to say, ok, open the email we sent you, now click on the link. When I pointed out that the link in each email I'd received pointed me to the SAME delivery address, which was EXACTLY the problem I'd described, she said "oh". (3) They were very slow in responding to questions that pertained to one portion of the move (to the UK; it was critical that the paperwork accurately describe the local shipping agent). This added to the stress involved in getting the paperwork together in time for this portion of the move. (4) Late on a Friday afternoon, I received an email notifying me that my shipment was to arrive the next day. When I called, they confirmed I should receive it at 10 AM. I rearranged my day - but the movers never arrived. Several phone calls later, I discovered it wasn't MY shipment that was to arrive - but the one to my brother in Oregon. My day ruined. When I called to complain, I was told that I'd been notified because I'd arranged the shipping. I told them it would be helpful for their automated emails to confirm the delivery address to prevent such mistakes. This suggestion was not well received. (5) Today (almost two weeks after the items were picked up), they start sending me the invoices for each of the five pieces of the move. (Oh, and apparently they can't schedule deliveries until I've signed off on the invoices, so all of the original delivery dates are no longer being honored because it took them so long to get the invoices to me). Guess what? I'm getting emails with invoices for identical addressees, not for five different recipients. It feels like a complete rehash of the problem described in (2) above. Just hope everything shows up intact, but the additional effort involved in sorting out their incompetence with paperwork alone merits an "F" rating.

I put in a request for a quote from MiniMoves and received a response that said "Everyone has minimums in the summer, Ours for 2 hours is $447... Sorry." There was a blank quote attached. I'm still perplexed about the response since they didn't even ask any questions about the size or scope of my move (other than what was in the quote sheet). I wasn't deterred by the price...but it's like they didn't want my business at all. Weird.

There is a systematic approach in providing quotes to customers. The team is required to review the inventory, packing needs, physical conditions, timing, elevator scheduling and insurance requirements that the building may need before preparing a quote. It appears the Consultant quoted you the minimum (two hour) move time charge without vetting the inventory assuming it would take less than two hours. This is not acceptable for any of our customers. Mini Moves is a moving company in Illinois that specializes in small moves such as apartments, etc. where the move originates in Illinois. I selected them because of their rating on Angie's list. All in all the move went very well. There were a few minor glitches in scheduling but I would rate them very highly. The team that came to pack the furniture were VERY skilled, efficient and punctual. They completely wrapped every item so there was no damage at all during packing, moving and delivery. The delivery in Chapel Hill went very well and each item of furniture was unwrapped and carried to the designated location in our house. Additionally, a few large and fragile items needed to be packed in solid crates for the move. This was also done very efficiently and professionally as was the the uncrating at the end of the move.

We were extremely disappointed with Mini Moves. Some of our belongings were moved to the wrong location and some of our valuable items were damaged beyond repair. What is most troubling is the lack of customer service. The company does not care about delivering your belongings on time or in original condition. It has been extremely frustrating. They have made no effort to rectify the situation. I will post a addendum if they ever do.

The two gentlemen picking up my load were very friendly, made sure all boxes were labeled and taped securely and blanket wrapped little furniture items I had. They were fast and we were very impressed and pleased with their work. I had requested a specific date if possible and they said it would be a charge so I said no and went with the timeline of dates given to be but to my delight they actually picked up on the date I wanted which was so much easier for me and my mom that was moving. Then to my surprise your company delivered sooner than the scheduled date which again was wonderful for my 94 year old mom who appreciated getting her stuff earlier. These delivery gentlemen in Florida were just as pleasant and polite as the other ones in Ohio and put everything where we asked them too with no hesitation. They were efficient in reading all the numbers on the boxes as I checked them off and they were quick too. It couldn't have been any easier or better. Great job by everyone!
Description of Work: Load boxes and small items on truck efficiently and quickly labeling each item and recording all items on paper. The gentlemen were polite, friendly and very detail oriented in wrapping items and loading onto truck and it couldn't have been a better moving experience from anyone else in my opinion. I would use Mini Moves over and over again and will tell anyone I can how great this company is from just initially emailing the company with my move demands to getting TK, the salesman answering all my questions, getting me a quote in a matter of a day, to helping me fill out the paperwork online and returning all my calls/emails the same day. Also the office girls make you aware of costs, dates of pickup and delivery and answer questions the same day.

I had a $15,000, 90+ year old dining set picked up in CA the 1st week of Dec. and was told the move should take 14 days or less. I was never given a call to set up delivery in Atl, but found out I had a date & time already scheduled when I called to gauge the progress of the move. During delivery, December 28th (which I had to use PTO for), none of my pieces were padded, wrapped or otherwise protected in ANY way, every single item was damaged & two items were visibly broken. I am a reasonable person, I fully understand things happen. What I absolutely CANNOT abide is the deception that MiniMoves were attempting to get away with on my table. Someone, during the transit had attempted to "repair" my 90+ year old solid wood table by using a hammer, one nail & screw. This "professional repair job" further damaged my table far more than the original break did. What I find truly abhorrent is that if the "repair" had held, the movers would have put my table in my dining room believing that I would never be the wiser. After all, how often do you crawl under your table to inspect it? If I had used the table in that condition and it fell on me or anyone else the lawsuits would be outrageous. I filed a claim & they had someone a**** the furniture and determine what could be done about repairs, again I had to use PTO for this. A month later they were able to come out to fix my furniture, this was the 3rd time I had to take time off. While they were there we flipped the table over, of course, that was damaged as well. So the process started over. Take pics, file a claim, wait to approve repairs, take off work so they could pick up the table. I took off work a 5th time for delivery of the table on March 30, this means moving my dining room took almost 4 months! While all this was going on I had advised my credit card to not pay them until the work was done. Luckily I have always paid my bills in full and on time so mastercard was willing to work with me and let the charge hold on my account while not accruing interest for a month. When the card came due the second month Mastercard said my only recourse was to reject the charge and let them rebill me again once all work was done. I did everything in my power to do right by minimoves at this time. I made the CEO & VP aware that I had to reject the charge right now but in every email to them I have mentioned I will pay the FULL charges once all my work was completed. There was no malicious intent behind my reasoning other than I have never paid an interest charge and have no intention of starting to now over an issue that is not my fault, in fact, I am 100% the victim. Instead of understanding that or having any compassion they rejected it so I am stuck paying the bill while I have no furniture, this leaves me no recourse if they never give me back my items or do not repair them sufficeintly. They claim (in writing) this is b/c "at the time of pick up" I elected "valuation coverage" (which by the way was an additional charge to my original quote). I have asked 3 times now (twice by written request) for the document I signed at pick up making the election. All three times I have been refused. That is b/c MiniMoves and I both know that document does not exisit. I was not there at the pick up and therefore never could have made that election. Right there is enough to show they lie and manipulate their prices. I have had multiple contacted the CEO, VP, claims & Whitney with Quality Assurance. I have asked at least 3 times that they condemn "repairs on the road", they refuse. So I believe they find the practice acceptable as long as they don't get caught. Who knows what other "handyman work is out there barely hanging on. Mini moves doesn't care though. I also feel they owe me for my missed time at work for the 4 extra times I had to take off work accumulating in 10 hours of missed pay! Also for prolonging a 2 week move into 4 months!

We regret Ms. Caulder experienced damage during the transit of her shipment. While we have less than 5% claims on all shipments unfortunately it does happen. The original contract agreed upon by Ms. Caulder reflected a declared value of $7,000. Ms. Caulder did not seek additional coverage to insure her shipment up to the $15,000 she mentioned. Our claims department informed Ms. Caulder that if she wanted to increase the total value of her shipment the additional premium cost would have to be paid in full. We have provided Ms. Caulder several times the proof of elected valuation coverage through the Household Goods bill of Lading, the advice of protection and the estimated cost order for service, all endorsed by Ms. Amy Caulder. MiniMoves pick-up and delivery dates are coordinated on a series of spread dates. Deliveries are customarily within 7-15 business days excluding holidays. Ms. Caulder’s contracted delivery spread was December 21st -January 4th which would exclude the Christmas, Christmas Eve, New Years, and New Year’s Eve holidays. There was no mention or contracted schedule to transport and deliver Ms. Caulder’s shipment across country from California to Georgia in 14 days or less. We have investigated Ms. Caulder’s statement regarding the in transit repair of her table. The assigned crews and our operations department that completed the pick-up have no notations of making any unauthorized repairs. Our processing time to complete the review and subrogation process of any claim for damage can take up to 90 days from the receipt of all necessary claims documents. Although our entire claims team works very hard to complete the process as quickly as possible there are factors that can add to a delay such as the customer’s availability to have the repair work completed. According to the Department of Transportation and the household goods bill of lading, all shipments must be paid in full prior to delivery and prior to the settling of any claim. Although there was unfortunate damage that Ms. Caulder’s table incurred there was a service of relocating her shipment that was rendered and completed. Ms. Caulder has disputed all of the move costs through merchant services and no further action to repair can be honored until the balance is paid. Ms. Caulder has been informed. We are regulated by the DOT and follow their regulations as an authorized carrier. We understand that Ms. Caulder has a busy work schedule and throughout the claims process we have attempted to work with her and her schedule so that she would not be inconvenienced. However, the insurance company does not.

I called for a quote to move items. It was a bedroom set and some boxes. I didn?t know how many boxes there were at the time of the call but I was told the cost would be adjusted down if there were less items. After discussing it with a rep, I was sent an Order for Service for the move, which included the cost. There were many documents to review and sign, which I did. After the move, it turned out there were half as many boxes (7 instead of 15) that needed to be moved. I was then charged more money than the signed and agreed upon cost. When I emailed to get an explanation, I was informed that they added an extra fee to the move and the more expensive cost was correct. I explained that my agreeing to use them for this move was based on the cost that I was quoted and that both they and I had signed. They said the reason for the cost was because I had asked for a specific pick-up date. This was, in fact, not true as they are the ones that told me when they were picking up and dropping off. They could have chosen any date to pick up the items and they had a 5 day window for drop-off but they insisted that I must have requested this and therefore they were adding the charge after the fact. They admitted they have no notes nor documentation between me and the representative leading up to the move that I requested the specific pick-up date. I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and then MiniMoves proceeded to lie and said the pick-up date was based on a requested delivery date. I can confidently say the delivery date statement is a lie because the delivery date they stated to the BBB was before we closed on our house. I gave them a 7 day window after our closing date and they actually showed up the day we closed on the house. They stopped responding to the Better Business Bureau so the BBB suggested I take them to small claims court and actually gave me all the information to file a suit. Their confirmation emails state on the first line that they don?t have hidden fees. This is completely untrue as I was charged a hidden fee. Again, there is no line-item on any of the documentation I was provided that showed an additional $250. Even on the final invoice, there is nothing that shows that charge - it's just a higher total. I was told they would credit half of the hidden up-charge only if I would sign another order for service at a higher rate. This was a month after the move which clearly implies, they don?t have signed agreement for this charge. This practice of up-charging and trying to get a signed agreement after one has already been signed is shady at best, and probably illegal at worst. Most of my communication with them (probably 95%) was via email so I have proof of everything I have written here.

I contacted Mini moves for my move from Boston to Portland . They gave a very good estimate. Steve was the contact person who helped me setting up the move. The movers came on time . I never received a call from mini movers but have to directly contact the local mover to finalize on the time. The move took almost more than two weeks to reach the destination. The local movers at both end were very good . They did a very good job of packing and unpacking my furniture. Overall the experience was very good and there was no significant damage to any of my stuff. Will recommend Minimoves for long distance move. All the estimate are based on the stuff moved rather than total weight so its good and bad based on your need.

I was completely satisfied from first contact to delivery. Phone calls and emails were answered within the hour, most within minutes, the furniture was packed and unpacked with care and contact was made during transit. I will use them again should I need a state to state move.

This is the second time I have used Mini Moves in the past year and have found them very easy to deal with. They get back to you quickly with the estimate and are patient with questions. Both times they showed up on time (even a little early) and worked quickly and carefully. They do not waste your time (or money). Both times the cost of the move actually came out a little less than the estimate. Most recently they moved my daughter and her friend from our home to their first apartment. They had a very large couch and the movers were not sure they were going to be able to get it up the very narrow staircase (with a turn). Seeing the disappointed faces on the girls, they kept trying different angles and were able to get it up the stairs. Would use them again!

The movers in both cities were good and pleasant to work with. The delivery time was switched at the last minute to a much earlier time but we were able to meet the movers at the time they requested. On the down side, they did not make it clear that the transit time would take at least three weeks from the pickup date until after the paperwork was signed, although it wasn't a problem. DO NOT bother paying for the insurance - we insured the full value of our items and, although three items were broken/badly scratched, we did not get any payment for the damage that was done. We would have been happy with the service had they simply paid for the damage that occurred during the move.
Description of Work: MiniMoves picked up a small load of furniture/household goods in Minneapolis and delivered them three weeks later in Chicago.

The packing crew were absolutely terrific. I can't say enough good about them. They were on time, polite, very helpful, took care in packing and moving my things, came to a separate location (already documented) to pick up more things; they were wonderful! MiniMoves, as a company, was a nightmare. From a low ball quote by phone (they never came out), to total lack of communication in confirming that they had my goods in storage (the crew had to come back a 2nd day as they didn't have enough room on the truck); to arbitrarily charging my credit card months later; to poor communication when I needed my goods delivered. And, their partner, Paul Arpin, who delivered the goods in California was terrible. There were 2 guys. The driver was rude and had an argument with one of my neighbors. They broke the leg off a vintage piece of furniture that I expressly told the original people to ensure that it was secured - the only piece I really wanted preserved! I have moved cross country several times. This move was a terrible experience.
