Best of all the quoted price did not change as it did with Copher (a mover I used in the past and will never use again) The sales man was very informative and the scheduling was done promptly. Both the pick-up and delivery crews were professional and clean. I packed the boxes and they literally looked like they had not been touched, everything was delivered in perfect condition. My overall review is that your experience will ultimately depend on the crew you get and whether MiniMoves is at full staffing capacity. We had two very different experiences with a recent move. We had one crew who we'd rate an A and another crew that would rate a D or F, which explains our overall C rating. The sales person I spoke with when getting a quote was extremely helpful. He walked me through each room in my home to get as close to an itemized list as possible for our estimate. Our situation was unique as we need temporary storage and were moving back to the same place and MiniMoves provided a very reasonable price for the whole process that ended up being right on target. The day of our first move, we were given an estimated arrival time of 9-11 am. At 10:45, dispatch called to tell us that our crew had a move that "blew up" and would arrive between 12-2 and would call us when they were 30 minutes out. While not thrilled, we understand that this can happen. However, by 2 pm, we saw no sign of the crew and had no calls. At that point, I started call MiniMoves, only to be on hold for nearly 45 minutes while the message said I was the first caller in line. At 2:45, the crew rang our bell and when I said we had expected a call, they told us that they had been told dispatch would call but also hadn't been able to connect with anyone at the office. Our contract said we'd have a crew of three, but only two were available that day. The team staged all of our boxes outside behind the building and the started wrapping our furniture. They were thorough, but extremely slow. One crew member periodically went out the truck and returned 10-15 minutes later, leaving the crew leader alone. There just seemed to be no game plan and the slow process was one thing, but about 4 hours into it, dark clouds rolled in and it started raining. We shouted to the crew that the boxes were being rained on and the crew leader ran out and started running boxes to the truck and we followed suit. The other team member stayed inside and continued wrapping while our belongings were rained on. The crew leader did what he could to minimize the rain exposure but the lack of team response was odd. In the end, it took 7+ hours to pack up our tiny 2 bedroom condo and we were left concerned that our items would be wet and in storage for 10 days. We had planned to finish cleaning out our unit after the movers left, but at 10 pm it was too late for that. Fortunately, this was a Saturday so we had Sunday to finish up before our contractors came on Monday, but it was a major inconvenience. For the return move, we were given an 8 am start time and the crew arrived at 11:30. Fortunately, 3 men arrived as planned and they were efficient and professional and completed the job in under 3 hours. When we unpacked the wardrobe boxes that were packed by the first crew, we found our clothing crumpled at the bottom of the boxes and many had some sort of dirt/dust residue on them. Perhaps this is just the price of moving, but after our experience it was just another issue to deal with and an additional dry cleaning bill. When we called to report our first experience, we were told that MiniMoves was short-staffed and that was the reason for our small crew. We may have been more understanding if we were informed of this change by dispatch or customer service and told to expect a longer process and/or had been able to reach anyone at the office during the delays.
Description of Work: While we had significant repairs done in our home, MiniMoves move moved our 2 bedroom condo to storage, held for 10 days and moved back to same condo.

Todd at Mini-moves was our initial contact. The final price quoted included everything including being on our own truck for the move down to North Carolina. The loading of the truck at our home in Naperville went well, however, the truck was a little too small, but somehow they squeezed everything on the truck. The moving team was headed by Chawla and 3 others. They worked very hard, were courteous and very professional. It took nearly 8 hours to move us out. The date of pick-up was agreed to in advance and there were no problems. The dispatcher, at Mini-moves was Tasman and he kept us updated at all times. He let us know that our move-in date in NC was going to be 7/7. They showed up on time and on schedule. The truck was larger than the pick-up in Naperville and it was ALL our stuff and bot mixed with other families. Mike and Don did the unloading and it took them 6 hours with no breaks and 90 degree heat! They were both professional and worked extremely hard. They took good care of new house and wood floors. No damage was done to any of our belongings or our house. I would highly recommend Mini-moves for all your moving needs!

The sales person (Steve) I worked with was very good ? he really went into detail to make sure there were no hidden surprises. The actual moving costs were slightly less than the estimates and the amount of time to do each was right on. The movers themselves were very careful during the moving process to make sure everything was packed and padded appropriately. When moving furniture up and down the stairs they were very careful not to bump into the walls. I was so impressed with the first moving team (lead by Miguel) that I asked for the same moving team for the second move which was much larger and more difficult. Since I hadn?t moved in the last 20 year ? I wasn?t sure what to expect and did a lot of research. I was very happy with my choice!

The sales person was very professional, and made sure that all bases were covered, everything was included, and gave us a very fair estimate for the move. The final price for the move was exactly as was quoted. The gentlemen who came to pack and load the truck were very friendly, professional and fast. They packed and wrapped everything we had including expensive art, furniture and the heavy, very fragile screen. They came to pack and move exactly when they told us they would be there, and the furniture arrived in Chicago within the expected delivery window (actually on the early side of the estimate!) The gentlemen who delivered the furniture in Chicago were also very friendly, professional, through and fast. The bed was put together, all furniture was placed according to my direction, they took all packing materials with them when they left. It was by fat the best moving experience I have ever had!
Description of Work: We had several pieces of furniture and art shipped from our Fort Lauderdale house to our condo in Chicago. This included some very heavy pieces, as well as a very heavy and very fragile glass and wood screen.

After spending three weeks researching moving companies I selected Mini Moves. We had a very difficult situation to work with. Our daughter was living in a furnished apartment in Orlando and was moving to an unfurnished apartment outside Orlando so she needed her bed, dresser, and other items from her room in Greenwood, IN. She had to be out of the first apartment August 9, 2013 and her new lease started August 15, 2013 plus my wife was flying down to help her move in and get settled. Of all the companies I called, only MiniMoves offered a specific delivery date option for a very reasonable $250 fee. This was important because all of the other companies were quoting two and three week windows for delivery. After signing the contract, I was told that they would pick up her belongings between July 18 and July 23. On July 12, the MiniMoves agent in Indianapolis, A. Arnold Relocation, called and said they would be at the house July 18 between 8 and 9am. They were on time and got everything into the truck in about an hour. I was told that they would next contact us on August 15 with a delivery time on August 16 in Florida. The Florida agent called as promised and the items were delivered on August 16 as scheduled. The MiniMoves representative at the home office was very helpful and patient answering all of my questions during the research process and throughout the move.

THIS REVIEW BEGAN ON JULY 30, 2013 AND HAS BEEN UPDATED TWICE. THIS IS THE FINAL UPDATE, AUGUST 27, 2013. I initially contacted MiniMoves in May for a July move. Based on the information I had provided to them, they provided an estimate of approximately $1,950. The estimate included all major pieces of furniture (king size bed, two dressers, two end tables, computer desk, chair, dinette set, etc.) and twenty boxes. I understood that this was obviously an estimate and that an increase in the amount of stuff moved would increase the final amount. The movers arrived on 7/17 extremely punctually, but seemed confused by the fact that everything had to be removed from the apartment. They indicated that they could not move things that were not in boxes, e.g. clothes/pillows/blankets in garbage bags, or laundry baskets. I had never heard this from the customer service rep, nor from anyone else at any other time I had ever moved. With no real choice (as my car was full), I allowed the movers to add boxes (at my expense) and fill them with things that were already ready to move. I thought I was being up-sold, as the movers were packing wastefully, such as wrapping empty plastic laundry baskets in five or six layers of saran wrap. After four hours, the movers indicated that I had twice as many items as was projected in the estimate and that the increased cost would be about $1,000. I do not doubt that there was much more than the initial estimate. Though another $1,000 seemed like a lot more, I thought a $3,000 move from Chicago to New Orleans, though steep, was not terribly outrageous. The movers indicated that the office would contact me the following day with a final amount. Six days later, (7/23) I received a call for a final address, which I was unable to give because I had not yet found an apartment. They said nothing about the final dollar amount. Two days after that, (7/25) when I learned that I had been approved for the apartment, I updated MiniMoves on the address, and that's when the quality assurance manager revealed the final balance of $4300. I expressed my unhappiness at this amount, and, after a brief discussion, she indicated that she would forward my case to upper management and that someone would contact me the next day to discuss the pricing. At that time, she was unable to give me a final delivery date because that had to be put through dispatch, though I indicated that I could have delivery starting on 8/2. Two days later, (7/27) she sent an invoice, which had no cost breakdown other than items moved and fuel surcharge. I decided to give them until Monday 7/29 to contact me. I called on, 7/30 and was on hold for approximately thirty minutes before I opted out to leave a message. The quality assurance manager contacted me later in the day, and told me that their servers were down all day, and that the company had no access to phone or voicemail. These things do happen, so I can appreciate the havoc that can wreak on a business. The assurance manager indicated that she had spoken with the owner of the company, and that they were able to make a reduction of about 10%. The manager explained to me that this price was not much higher than their costs and walked me through the various price points. Today, 7/31, I received a call from the Executive VP, who wanted to gauge my level of satisfaction. We had a very pleasant conversation, and he expressed his regrets at any problems I had encountered with the move. He assured me that from here forward, things would move smoothly, and that someone would contact me today with a final delivery date and time for this weekend. I'm still not crazy about the final price. But I am not an expert in logistics, so the $3,000 figure in my head for a one bedroom apartment could be unrealistic. We eventually set up a move-in time date of 8/6. The movers arrived over an hour after the window I was given. The movers (local New Orelans guys) moved everything into the house without issue. However, one of the end tables had a leg snapped off of it. Also, the couch piece of my three-piece sectional was missing. I contacted MiniMoves regarding the missing couch, and they indicated that they would track it. Other than the missing couch and broken end table, everything arrived in excellent condition. As I unpacked, I realized how the move got so expensive--things that were quoted as one item ("king size bed") turned into five or six items--mattress, headboard, 2 baseboards, slats, sideframes. For a company that charges by the item, that is a substantial increase. Another example: wooden hangers were taken out of laundry baskets and put into boxes. The movers shrink wrapped empty laundry baskets, and added boxes for the hangers. Also, packing tape was put directly on wood pieces of furniture, removing part of the stain from a small wooden island. In the three weeks with the missing couch, MiniMoves communicated with me, but only when I initiated contact for a status update. The couch was supposed to arrive on 8/26. On 8/26, of course, someone called and indicated that, no, it would arrive on 8/27. The couch finally arrived today (8/27) without incident in the time window the local movers gave. I let MiniMoves know that the couch arrived, and they were glad to hear it. So glad, that they immediately requested that I amend my review here. And trust me, they did not have to remind me. Overall, this move was a fairly horrendous experience. Everyone on the delivery end was fantastic. Where I think the problem sits is how things were unnecessarily packed and how items estimated individually became multiple items. I believe that I had I gone with a different moving company, I would have spent substantially less money. It has been a month since I received the final bill, so I've long since emotionally parted with the money. MiniMoves would seem a better fit for those with a few, select, heavy items. Moving an entire living space gives far too great an opportunity for subtle add-ons that accumulate quickly. I apologize for the long review, but moving is a significant investment. I hope those reading this reconsider using this service if they have a substantial, change-of-homes move. (TL;DR--MOVE COST TWICE WHAT WAS ESTIMATED BASED ON ITEMS ESTIMATED AS "ONE ITEM" BEING UNBUNDLED TO FIVE OR SIX. WHEN FURNITURE ARRIVED, MOVERS WERE LATE, A TABLE LEG HAD BEEN BROKEN AND A COUCH WAS MISSING. COUCH ARRIVED THREE WEEKS LATER. LESSON--USE THIS SERVICE ONLY IF MOVING A SELECT FEW PIECES OF FURNITURE; GO ELSEWHERE IF MOVING YOUR ENTIRE HOUSE OR APARTMENT.)
Description of Work: The provider, MiniMoves, was hired to move everything in my one-bedroom apartment from Chicago to New Orleans, Louisiana. Substantial price increases, broken furniture, delayed furniture--this move had it all.

They are set up to do long distance small moves. We needed to move 11 pieces of furniture from one state to another. They provided a pod and bring it to you and then move several at a time which makes it more cost efficient. They were very responsive and reasonable priced and well organized

There was some miscommunication on our part, about which service we actually needed. We thought we had been quoted for packing and moving but they thought they were only moving the already packed items. It ended up costing more, of course, but they just rolled with it and they were wonderful. The two that came out to pack and move were great. They were such hard workers and they were very professional. The person I spoke with over the phone at the office did his best to get us the greatest rate he could with the service we needed. We were very happy with their service. Our belongings were delivered on 6/28/2013.

This company lied about the service I selected and egregiously overcharged me for one discrepancy. They told me in the beginning that they charge by the item, not by weight. I made a mistake on my inventory with one too many boxes replacing one chest of drawers. Additionally, they claimed that I did not select the cheapest service which was my reason for selecting them and the first one listed on their proposal, rather that I selected a more expensive service with a high insurance coverage and $0 deductible. I never considered this possibility and did not select it. They added more than 35% additional on to the amount I contracted them for, nearly $500 more than I agreed to. It took a number of weeks for them to "review" my problems and they "found" 100% in their own favor. It is shocking to me that they claim to have such high customer satisfaction when, in fact, their customer service is non-existent.
Description of Work: Moved 26 items from Massachusetts to New Mexico.

I was moving to San Francisco, CA after spending the previous 5 years going to school and working in Ann Arbor, MI. I had accumulated many possessions in my years in Ann Arbor and wanted to bring a good number of them with me to start my life in San Francisco. I researched the moving company landscape and ultimately decided to go with MiniMoves. I picked MiniMoves because of their reputation for small moves. I had enough things to bring with me that I need to go with a moving company, but at the same time, not enough things to warrant picking a larger company. The whole process went smoothly with no regrets. Not only did MiniMoves execute the bare minimum that you would want out of a moving company (ability to move your possessions from point A to point B without breaking or losing them), MiniMoves excelled in covering the little things that could make moves stressful. Here are a few things that MiniMoves did to make the move a pleasant experience: 1. Comprehensive and simple preparation process. I made a few calls to get a quote and schedule the dates to pick up my items and get my items delivered at my new place. They allowed for flexible scheduling of my dates and ultimately my possessions were picked up and delivered exactly on the days that I had wanted. 2. Packing up and delivering of possessions in atypical living arrangements. I was living in a very small apartment in Ann Arbor where my items were picked up. I don't think a large moving truck would have been able to drive to my house. Also, the stairway was very tight and getting in an out was a pain, which they handled with ease. Fast-forward to my new city where I am living in a San Franciscan Victorian on one of the busiest streets in San Francisco. They were able to bring all of my items up one of the longest staircases I have ever seen, living on the third floor of a house. Each case the movers were right on time. 3. MiniMoves pretty much took care of everything. There was a lot of stress in my life, moving away from all my friends to go to a new city. I didn't want to spend my final days in Ann Arbor packing up my goods. MiniMoves scheduled an extra hour or two in order to help pack up my things in boxes. This included special wrapping of fragile kitchen items and oblong shaped items that just wouldn't fit in a box. I didn't have to spend a lot of time and energy preparing for the move but at the same time was able to rest easy knowing that my possessions were going to make it to San Francisco safely. I ultimately picked MiniMoves for their strengths and it was a good decision. I highly recommend them for your move!

It went well. They were out prompt and took care of things. Their family had one complaint; they borrowed a screwdriver and forgot to give it back. Beyond that, they were fine. The people that came in and did the work were very courteous and professional. With regard to professionalism, they had to borrow tools and forgot to give it back.
Description of Work: MiniMoves moved some beds and mattresses for us. They brought one in from my sister-in-law's house and hauled one away. It was just a couple of hours.

Phone calls/emails returned promptly. Movers came on time and did excellent work. Items took one month to ship from Chicago to Los Angeles, which is what was stated. Everything arrived undamaged - just as it was packed. Highly recommended!
Description of Work: Wrapped all furniture in pads as well as plastic wrap to keep everything in place. Wrapped all china in paper then into dish boxes. Wrapped all plastic bins in plastic wrap to keep lids in place. Loaded all items into panel truck and then sent to warehouse for crating/shipping.
