Chris Buenz was very accommodating in fitting us into his busy fall schedule and communicating with my claims adjuster. The new fencing is a great match to the existing fence (which is only 18 months old).
Description of Work: Repaired three panels of a 6 foot cedar fence that was damaged by a storm.

+ -1 moreThe laborers who installed the fence did a good job, were polite and efficient. The employee in the office who answered the phone was always friendly and helpful. I'm in a service oriented business myself, and I always strive for the 24 hour call back rule. When a customer calls, and you are not available, make every effort to return the phone call in 24 hours. In the case of First Fence, one would be lucky to receive a call back in less than 2 months! To make matters worse, when I reported this behavior to the company owner, he seemed to defend this employee. I definitely would never do business with this company again, and will encourage everyone in my community not to get involved with them.
Description of Work: The work performed was acceptable. The problem was with my salesperson. Before I gave a 50%deposit, I had no problems. He returned everyone of my phone calls promptly (pursued my business aggressively with his phone calls), was very polite & business like. After deposit, it was like pulling teeth to get him to return a phone call and schedule installation. I believe I gave my deposit in March/April, and did not have installation until the end of July. On the day of installation, I decided to add a 5' fence extention. I called my salesperson, who said there would be no problem with that & he would return the next week to measure and proceed with the extention. That was the last I heard of him for seven weeks, until I got a phone call from his company about a deliquent bill. Obviously, I was not going to pay until the job was done. Owner said the sales person would call me immediately. I missed his call, called back, left a message & two weeks later (Oct), still have not heard from him.

+ -1 moreVery good response. Scheduled an appointment for the following day after just one phone call. Arrived within 10 minutes of scheduled time. Estimate seemed fair based on others I received. Decided to go with another company because First Fence couldn't exactly match the style of fence I have. I would definitely contact them again if needed.
Description of Work: Fence damaged by a tree limb needs repair. Also need a new gate.

+ -1 moreI liked that they didnt use premade panels and put each section up individually (evenly spacing the posts and nailing up the boards individually). The came when they said they would, they were very courteous and I am very satisfied. The fence was curved and my neighbor was very impressed that the workers were able to get the curves so semetrical by hand. Another one of my neighbors used the same company for their fence.

+ -1 moreI really was quite impressed with our communications with regards to Chris Buenze. He had to come out here twice because we had made some changes after the first time I reviewed with him. He really impressed me. When he asked me if I had interviewed with any other fence companies (and I told him I had) he didn't try to give any other companies a bum-rap. Honesty is important to me, communication is important to me. Anytime I called someone would call me back. I would hire them again. They stand behind their work and they gave me a beautiful fence.

+ -1 morePrice approximately half another firm's estimate. Salesperson friendly, informative, competent, on time. Workers on time, quality of work was excellent; match with existing fencing was good and materials and workmanship better than existing fencing. At end of job encountered difficulties: 1)Two pickets not installed and left leaning against the inside of the fence. Oversight, I think. 2) Metal caps were not installed. Contacted First Fence to resolve these issues, responsiveness poor. We were repeatedly told work would be taken care of, given several likely dates, but work not done, we were not contacted and had to call again. Took about three or four weeks to get them back to finish. Would use again, but time for problem resolution was disappointing.
Description of Work: Installed cedar fence around side of house on a corner property. Requested that fencing match existing fencing along alley and between our home and home next door. Requested that wood fence posts be capped with metal pointed caps similar to those on existing fence.

We ultimately chose another company, partially because they suggested the use of core drills to keep our concrete from cracking. However, First Fence is a company whom we would consider in the future.

Since the workers had been given the wrong specification, a 5 ft. section was left open, and the workers promised to return on Monday with the proper materials. I had also been promised a gift from the company by their representative, Bob Salkeld, (a wooden planter) which was not delivered by the workers on Saturday either. No workers showed up the next week. On Wednesday I contacted Bob who told me they did not show because it had been raining all week (even though the original installation was done in the rain). I also asked him about the planter and he assured me the workers would bring it. The workers came back Thursday and finished the installation. No planter. I called Bob's cell phone and left a message to this effect. Bob has seen fit not to return my call.
Description of Work: Tore down a 31 ft. section of chain link fence and replaced with combination privacy/shadow box fencing.

Crew did a very nice job of removing old fence and digging carefully to keep from cutting the power supply to my garage. Family run business who seems to care about maintaining long term relationships.

I GAVE THEM A SHORT DEADLINE, WHICH THEY MET, AND THEY WERE WILLING TO WORK WITH ME TO ADDRESS MY INITIAL CONCERNS ABOUT THE JOB. THE CREW SHOWED UP ON TIME, CLEANED UP AFTER THEMSELVES, DIDN'T DAMAGE THE NEIGHBORS' PROPERTY, AND AS FAR AS I CAN TELL, DID A QUALITY JOB. OVERALL, THE FENCE LOOKS GREAT. THEIR PRICES WERE HIGHER THAN SOME, BUT IN THE BALLPARK, AND I THOUGHT WORTH IT.

I WENT BACK TO THE 3 BEST PRICED VENDORS TO RE-DO THE ESTIMATE FOR CEDAR; THEIRS WAS A 'MIDDLE' PRICE. THEIR SALESMAN, ADAM, PROVIDED HIS CELL PHONE NUMBER TO ME, WHICH MADE HIM THE MOST AVAILABLE TO ANSWER MY QUESTIONS. (THIS WAS THE ONLY VENDOR THAT WOULD STAIN THE FENCE FOR ME.) I HAD REQUESTED AN INSTALL DATE OF THE DAY AFTER I MOVED INTO THE HOUSE. THEY CALLED A WEEK AHEAD TO TELL ME THEY SCHEDULED IT THE DAY BEFORE. I TOLD THEM WE COULD NOT DO THAT ON THE MOVING DAY. THEY SWITCHED MY INSTALL WITH SOMEONE ELSE. AS I WRITE THIS, THE FENCE HAS NOT YET BEEN STAINED, BUT IT IS A REALLY NICE FENCE.
