The work that they did is really great looking, the fence is good quality and looks fabulous! The labor for this installation seemed somewhat high to me but seems to be in line with other fencing contractors. We were happy to work with Adam and the work crew did a great job. We highly reccommend First Fence.

It was good. They did everything on time. They did what they said they would do. They came on time, when they said they were coming. The gate and fence both look good.

Great! Chris is a good guy and everything went very smoothly. No complaints. Will use them again when we add more fencing in the spring.

Overall things went very well. Adam was very helpful with the planning. Our shared driveway and neighbor's existing fence required a little creativity/flexibility. Adam offered ideas while listening to what we wanted. Initially the gate didnt open properly but everyone responded promptly and fixed the problem. We are very satisfied with the finished product and would highly recommend First Fence.

terrible - they quoted us (and we decided) based on getting "#1 Grade" lumber, as written on their contract. The wood installed was the lowest grade, with marks from the lumber yard that are still there after 6 years. they did a terrible job of nailing the boards (1/5th of the nails weren't there) and left the worksite in bad condition, including leaving some concrete on the grass, which of course killed it. I asked the owner to come back out, and he tried to defend his work, even bringing me some example lumber and said that was the best they used. They later did a fence for the local VA, and it was the wood we wanted in the first place. I was so annoyed that I just got them to fix the bad workmanship (I didn't want the whole fence pulled) and told them to stuff the rest. Very bad experience, dishonest salesman (who thought he could pull a fast one on my wife, who got the estimate), and untrustworthy owner, who defended the whole thing. STAY AWAY. I wish I had photos handy to show you. UPDATE: It's now ten years on and I just wanted to confirm that the fence completely fell apart - sections fell out, exposing the rusty nails for the kids to fall on. No, they didn't use stainless steel. My in-laws even know not to mention the subject, since it still makes me mad. I hope these guys are out of business.

I was able to make an appointment for an estimate within a few days of my phone call. Their estimate was completely reasonable, so I signed a contract the next day. I was informed that the installation date would probably take place in 2 and a half weeks, which was correct. They also accommodated our request to have the work done on a Friday and Monday, so that we could remove some brush. The estimate and installation appointments were all right on time. The workers were very industrious and meticulous, and did an excellent job. They were fast but careful, and did not damage any of our downspouts or our neighbor's landscaping. Overall, this was an excellent experience - I doubt a better one would be possible.

They showed up on time and did what they said they were going to do.

This was not a very smooth transaction, but the work was top quality. were supposed to show up on a Tuesday, and there were major communication issues. Then, I was supposed to have two doors installed on the north side of my home to create a dog run. They only installed one, and the work order indicated only one door. I hired a different company to finish the other door. This was frustrating, but the work was very good quality.

They gave me an estimate over the phone then came by to confirm. The estimate on site was higher but they gave me the price of the phone estimate. I chose them because their price was definitely the best. They did the job punctually and quickly. They hauled away the old fence. They were courteous and professional.

They were on time. They did a good job. They cleaned up everything so well-you could never tell they were here. They were very timely.

I took pictures before and after. The owner was very professional and didn't talk badly about the other companies that I got quotes from. I cannot tell you how happy I am with everything! I have no complaints!

Although Kevin at First Fence was timely in getting me his bid and quite attentive in follow-up, his bid was higher than the company I hired to do the fencing. I selected First Fence to give me a bid based on the work they did at my house. I am quite satisfied with First Fence as a company. Their product is good and their follow through was been satisfactory. I would hire them again.

The salesman, Kevin, communicated a change in his schedule and arrived when he said he would. He had pictures of various styles of fences from photos of their work for other customers. I needed a property survey and other quotes, so it was a couple of months before I called Kevin to let him know I chose their company. He made an appointment and was prompt. He wrote up the new quote, and I put 50% down. We selected an installation date. Due to rain, the actual installation started two days after the scheduled date. There were different teams of workers for the installation, but they all worked hard and did a nice job. There were some minor things unfinished, but they were quickly taken care of when I reported them. It took a little longer to complete the whole installation than I thought it would, but it was well worth the wait. Both fences turned out beautifully.

Chris came over promptly in April 2007 to do an estimate for me and even came late one Tuesday night to meet up with my neighbors, who also wanted to replace their existing fences, which were rotting and looked shabby. After we worked out the details - which took some time due to the various interests of the neighbors involved - First Fence came out and tore down the original fences. This was done in late April. Unfortunately, it took them a long time to finally put up the fences. Numerous times, he promised that he would be out the following week but didn't show up. This was frustrating because we had to call First Fence continually ask when they would come out and put up the fences. My neighbors and I emailed First Fence and left numerous messages, but it took some time to get a response. Finally, in late May, they came and put up the fences. They were not the right height, so they needed to be adjusted. They were not completed (stained, gates put up) until mid-July.

Overall, I think the project went terrible. First of all, the 10 foot gate was supposed to swing inward, not outward. Both of my side gates were to be installed with a spring for automatic closing. Neither gate was installed to close automatically. The wood post for one of the gates is split all the way down to the ground, and to top it off, the gates are difficult to open and close. I waited 3 weeks to have all 3 gates installed improperly and defective. I contacted the company and was told that the springs (automatic closing devices) had to be special ordered. This was never told to us initially, and if that's the case, it could have been ordered within the 3 weeks we waited for installation. I was told that someone was coming out again about 2 weeks ago, but I haven't heard from anyone yet. I am very disappointed with this company, and will definitely not use them again.

John Buenz came out immediately for the estimate. He was great, listened too and understood what we wanted. The estimate arrived in a very timely fashion. We had to delay the install for some time. When contacted, John arranged work within two weeks. The job was done quickly with a couple of minor problems. The crew was clean, polite and worked quickly. After asking for two fixes, First Fence responded immediately and corrected the problems within a week due to one bad horizontal board, crooked vertical planks for the last few sections of fence. Overall, an excellent experience and an excellent end result. The price was slightly higher than other estimates but we went with our gut feeling due to John's demeanor and knowledge. We love our new fence and the gates.

First Fence was great. Salesman had lots of detail at the first visit. Great selection of choices. Workmen arrived when they said they were going to and worked hard in very cold weather. Quality is top notch. When swinging gates for access to car parking were installed wrong, the company sent out workers to correct the situation within 48 hours. From start to finish my interactions with everyone was excellent.

Chris Buenz made an appointment for estimates and showed up on time. It was a pleasure discussing the project with him. He is very professional, measured accurately, discussed the different types of fences available and then gave us detailed prices on the 2 options we discussed. The prices were very competitive and less than estimates from some other fence companies. Compared with its competitors consultants we called, Chris was the only fence consultant that we felt comfortable with since he was extremely pleasant, knowledgeable and well experienced. The work crew showed up on time and were polite, accommodating and competent. They confirmed a few items before installing the fence. The old fence and posts were removed and new posts set in concrete on the first day, and the fencing was completed the next day. Chris came by after the completion to inspect the job. A first class company and staff, highly skilled work crew, good prices and very responsive. The fence is beautiful.

First Fence was the only fencing company that offered us steel posts instead of wooden ones. Our old fence posts were rotted away from the base due to water accumulation along the back of our yard which leads to a sewer drain. Therefore, we wanted our next fence to alleviate this issue. The crew arrived as promised and removed the old fencing and posts and they set the new posts on day 1. On day 2, they completed the fencing.

The First Fence crew did a great job. They asked questions about placement of our gates to insure proper placement before installing. After the work was completed an inspection was done by someone at the company.

This was a small fencing job since it was a repair and also part of a homeowners claim due to storm damage. Chris Buenz was very accommodating in fitting us into his busy fall schedule and communicating with my claims adjuster. The new fencing is a great match to the existing fence (which is only 18 months old).

The laborers who installed the fence did a good job, were polite and efficient. The employee in the office who answered the phone was always friendly and helpful. I'm in a service oriented business myself, and I always strive for the 24 hour call back rule. When a customer calls, and you are not available, make every effort to return the phone call in 24 hours. In the case of First Fence, one would be lucky to receive a call back in less than 2 months! To make matters worse, when I reported this behavior to the company owner, he seemed to defend this employee. I definitely would never do business with this company again, and will encourage everyone in my community not to get involved with them.
