We did not get competitive quotes this time. First Fence was prompt for the quote and the job. They replaced several posts. We were pleased with the result.

An amazing two days of hardworking construction. Crew did an awesome job. They were neat and courteous. The fence looks amazing. The price was on par with other quotes. The customer service and the quality of construction was way above expectations. We had used a competitor at our other home in Elmhurst approximately five years ago. Choosing First Fence was a better decision.

They used subcontractors and the work was done wrong. We've had them come out twice and they put a hole in our garage siding. They still haven't come out to fix what they said they were going to in the past couple of weeks. They seemed okay until the work was done and now we can't get a call back.

I had a positive experience in dealing with them. They're professional and did an excellent job. Everything was very even and straight.

Vendor was initially contacted via email. Received a response within 48 hours. Sales representative was a a little 'rough around the edges' , but still profesional. We scheduled the appoinment and later he indicaed that he was going to start a little earlier and wanted to make me his early stop. That was good news. He arrives on time with product samples and references. He measured my yard, provided recommendations and discussed what would be involved. He was familiar with the ordinances in my village for fence installation. Prior to the installation, the installer team called and provided a date and time. The installers arrived on time and went straight to work. It begun to rain, so they did as much as they could and came back the next day @ 7 AM. Everything went extremely well with the exception of the delivery of one of my gates, which was custom. It took over 3 weeks from the initial installation to arrive and be installed. The price was about the same as everyone else.

The work went well, it was a small job and I really appreciated that this company came out and did this for me because most companies were not interested in such a small job.

Called on a Thursday for someone to give me an estimate on 2 rotted posts and a section of fence that was falling down. Definitely a small job for the fence industry. An appointment was scheduled for the following Monday, and Dan was prompt and professional. As long as he was there, I asked for a price to replace the wooden driveway gates. He recommended replacing a third post and proceeded to write up the estimate on site. Out of the three estimates I had gotten, his came in the lowest with that additional post. The other two estimates did not include that. The next day, I signed and mailed the contract with 50% down. A few days later, Dan called to say the office would contact me to schedule the job, probably in a couple of weeks. But surprisingly, I was contacted a couple of days later for a next day install. So the entire process, start to finish was 9 days. The crew was professional, and I appreciated that they cleaned up afterwards. The fence and gates look beautiful.

It was a really good experience. Adam was our salesman. He was very responsive. When we actually signed the contract he was very professional and very nice. Communication was very good if I asked pictures or anything else.

All contacts with company from salesman to scheduler to installers to office personnel were professional.

The estimate was accurate and there were no surprises in the final price. A two man crew arrived on the designated date, removed the old fence, hauled it away and installed the new fence. The estimated time was two days and the crew finished it on time.

I met with Chris. He was on time, polite, and informative. I already knew what I wanted since they had done the back section of fence and I wanted the rest to match. This new section required a gate and since we have a pool he knew the proper codes for the gate (self closing, high latch). I also received a previous customer discount. I was told the lead time for installation was 2 weeks which was correct. The call for installation was rather short next day notice. They try to fit you in where they can and keep their crews busy. This is probably true with any service. I had to provide electric and water hose for the crew to use. The 2 man crew showed up on time and started removing the old fence. On the first day they removed the old fence, set the new posts, and trucked away the old fencing. On the second day they installed all the fencing between the posts and the gate. It was a 2 day job. Payment was via credit card, 50% down when excepting the estimate and the remainder at completion. Everything was done as expected. The gate latch used was one I hadn't seen before. It's a solid latch that is self latching and can be secured so kids can't open it.

Kevn was my salesperson and wrote up several quotes that required measuring my lot different ways, with different styles of fencing, etc. It was a hassle and he was a bit annoyed with me when he found out that I intended to get other quotes (after he did all that work for me). And he almost lost the job because of it, but I went witih First Fence anyhow and am glad that I did. The fence is BEAUTIFUL, perfectly installed, the crew was professional, and the job was done in one day even though it meant that the crew had to work in the rain. I highly recommend First Fence, including Kevin, who put in a lot of work to get the job.

We thought their estimate was the best of the three we received. We actually ended up signing the contract with them.

Dan Buenz 630-688-0171 came out to do a complete estimate on my fence that blew down during a high wind storm we had in August. He was very responsive and had all the bases covered in his quote. We had filed the claim with our insurance company (State Farm) who "pro rated" the age of the fence and do to the size of our deductible and the small amount State Farm would give us we chose not to replace the fence.I would grade First Fence "A+" and State Farm "F"

I looked up fence companies, and they had a good rating. I was in contact with a guy named Adam. He came out and gave me a good estimate. He seemed like a good guy so we went with him, and he a great job.

Chris was a complete professional. He took great time to explain all the pros and cons of each option. He also came up with the solution to "child proof" the stairs that lead from our deck to our basement. The work / execution was top-notch. I would highly recommend them.

While his crew did a good job installing the fence, the quality and customer service is very poor.

It went very well. They did a good job. They give lifetime warranty. It was 100% cedar so it will last for a long time. I would use them again in the future.

Like many on AL, I relied on the experiences of other members as part of my contractor vetting process. First Fence was among those for fencing that got reasonably positive marks; however, my experience with this company was a rotten one and I'll never do business with them. And apparently they don't much care based on their unprofessional, unreliable attitude. On Friday, the day after the estimate was scheduled and confirmed by phone, I called First Fence to get the particulars. I was told that Chris was the person who performed the estimate but he was away and I could leave a message for him to get back to me. I received no return call. On Monday I called the First Fence office again, spoke with the same woman who let out a bit of a sigh and told that Chris was in a meeting and she could have him call me back. As I stated that he hadn't returned my last message she assured me that she'd have him get back to me. The rest of Monday came and went, and no return call. On Wednesday I waited until 3 p.m. before phoning them again, having already made up my mind I wouldn't be doing business with these guys but at the least wanting to let them (or just the woman answering the phone?) know that Chris still hadn't returned my calls. When I told this to the same woman, she said "I can't believe he hasn't called you back," at which point I said, "Well forget it, I've seen enough to know I'm not doing business with you guys." Her response was, sadly, almost a giddy "OK." And perhaps that reaction was a poignant one: I was just Joe Blow -- one of many potential customers. When one departs another comes along. I can at least take solace in cutting my losses and not dealing with them any further.

They were excellent! They were swift. We have used them twice. They had to work over tree roots and unlevel land. They did the job exactly how I wanted it done. They were also the lowest price. My only complaint is that they did not use stainless steel nails back in 2002, but they have corrected it.

The day of the installation, the crew was on time and always checked with me before installing or making any changes. I would hire them again, our fence looks great.

Kevin was the person we worked with, who was very responsive and spent a lot of time for us measuring and estimating the fence area. Amongst all the companies we received quotes from, he was the best. He measured the place accurately and gave us an exact estimate. The quote given was a reasonable one. He sounded very confident in executing the job well and on time. I have young children and a dog, so keeping in mind that he suggested us the type of fence. He did a great job with the fence and I will continue to use him in future.

The fence looks great. However, the installation was a bit rough. I just purchased the house a few months prior and do not know how everything is laid out in the yard. While they were digging post holes they ran into some underground French drains. They didn't stop and tell me about it until after they hit the second pipe. (guess they just hopped I'd not miss the first one). When they showed me what they'd done, there was no offer to move the hole/re-drill to change the layout. Instead they were just like, "Welp, there's a drain there." I don't fault them for hitting it, I didn't know it was there, so I couldn't tell them it was there before they dug, but they should have offered some resolution to the problem (I didn't expect them to fix it - it wasn't there fault) - but I did expect more than, "Look, we hit something... (again)" After all, they're the experts. I finally asked them to shove some towels up and down the pipes (to keep the concrete out) so I can come back later and dig up the pipes and reconnect them around the post. The towels were laying on the ground after they left. Also, there was ground water in a few of the post holes that the city inspector said they needed to remove before pouring - the installers said they don't have anything to pump it out with - so I conceded to a dry concrete mix for those post holes (they advertise wet pour as a reason to choose this company). All in all I would use them again, but I would request a different installation team.
