Description of Work: The Basement man gutted and remodeled my basement. Moved the existing bathroom to another place in the basement and added a shower. My interaction with the owner of company Chris was very pleasant. From the first time I called to get an estimate, he returned my call back quickly unlike some of the other companies that I had called. The project manager for the demolition,Leo, was very easy to work with,came in time and finished quickly. The main construction guy, Chris, and his team did a fabulous job and did everything that asked to make sure a was happy with the work. Chris made sure to meet with me at least once a week to make sure the project was going well. I would use The Basement Man again on future remodeling jobs and I highly recommend his company.

Description of Work: Working with the Basement Men was overall a positive experience. Steve was easy to contact or always returned calls in a timely manner. Work performed by was good. One scheduling hiccup, workers removing drywall showed up several hours early causing disruption in the schedule for that day, otherwise every thing went smoothly.

Description of Work: The basement men finished my basement. The job included dry walling, removal of fluorescent light fixtures, removal of wainscoting that was glued to some of the drywall, drywall repair (which was really tricky) installation of can lights throughout, painting throughout, installation of vinyl plank floor and carpet. We purchased the vinyl plank floor and the carpet was part of the cost of service. |The owner Steve was pleasant enough to work with. I didn't know going in that he would dispatch one person to do all of the work except the carpet. For that he used an outside contractor (BP Sales). |The person doing the work - Martin - was extremely good and fast. Unfortunately a family emergency took him off the job for a week and there was no one to come in and keep the project moving forward. With everything in my basement on my upper level and garage this was definitely an inconvenience. |The carpet company they used (BP Sales) did the carpet job on time but carpeted too far into an adjacent room and I could not close the door due to the transition strip installed. When I called for this to be fixed I was told by Al at BP Sales "Just cut the door down so that it will close". I was fairly appalled that this would be the way they would handle my complaint and told them I expected them to fix the carpet or cut the door down themselves. They told me they will do it the next time they are in the area - which was about 3 weeks later. The person that did the job corrected the problem with the door being able to close but then pounded the transition strip on the carpet so that it had multiple dents in it - he must not have been happy to come back. I talked with the carpet guy about this and also sent the picture of the damaged transition strip to the owner of the Basement men as well as to the carpet guy but neither will call me back. That's disappointing. |Overall the quality of the work was good, I am happy with my new basement and the price was right but I was not really satisfied with the customer service from the carpeting sub contractor and felt that Basement men should have been more involved in handling the complaint staying on it until I had a satisfactory outcome.

Description of Work: Partial basement remodel and framing and finishing of about 400 square feet of unfinished part. To keep this short- service is terrible, unprofessional, sloppy work. Was told at the time of contract signing it would take a couple of weeks to finish the project- only after starting a project, was told that a couple of weeks means 3-4 weeks. The constant lying was a complete nuisance. They did give us the lowest price, however, I regret hiring them right after demolition and if we didn't pay them half of the money upfront, would fire them on the spot. I still need to hire a painter to do touch ups and fix all the problems. The paint in the crawl space is coming off already after two weeks.... I couldn't wait to get them out if my house! He writes a contract to protect himself, completely not in your interest and skips many necessary items, to comeback later and say, well this is not in the contract so it will cost extra, even though all that was discussed at the time of us meeting

Description of Work: Did not use them thankfully, they rescheduled the appointment twice, the second time it was the day of the appointment. If you're in a customer based business and you made an appointment...BE THERE! These guys don't realize we have to fit our schedule for them, and they did it twice.

Description of Work: ***HIGHLY RECOMMEND** We hired Steve to do a tile floor in our gym for us a couple of weeks ago and we were so pleased with the overall quality, service and price, we're having him do our kitchen floor tomorrow. Super nice guy. Total pro.

Description of Work: Renovation of rarely-used basement and convert it to a small den and office - demolish existing finished basement (remove paneling, suspended ceiling and carpet), move pipes, re-stud walls, add studs to ceiling, drywall ceiling and walls, change windows, paint window wells, add closet and built-ins, install cabinets, add electrical (lights, outlets) and cable and telephone lines, paint and install carpeting.
