Jonathan and team provided continuous updates on progress, hurdles and recommendations for work that needed to be done that was unanticipated. The Jar team helped us identify items that were nice to do vs. need to do while understanding that we had a budget that we needed to stay in. There were a couple of times that we asked to make last minute changes to our previous picks (e.g. changed counter top from quartz to marble) and Jar was able to flawlessly accommodate changes within the project timing. The Jar Team was meticulous with keeping the work site clean. A temporary wall was constructed to keep dust out of our living room and a additional filter was run during demolition due to a family member's asthma. Living in the house during the remodel with two small children, I never found a single nail on the floor during the 4 months of the project.
Description of Work: Complete gut remodel of kitchen that included changing location of appliances, adding lighting and removing a supporting wall.

They treated the job as if it was their own home. Every night the workers cleaned up. Everyone who worked here did their very best to make sure the job was perfect. I feel like I live in a new home that is so much better than it was before. I am so grateful to Jonathan, and his team at PaitJAR. They are perfection personified. I have done several remodeling project, both personally and professionally. The only job that really ended above expectations was the one that Paint JAR completed. They stand behind their work, and will not stop until the client is totally pleased with the job. I will never use anyone else when I need work done at my home! JAR Corp is so much more that paining. They can do it all, from building a new home, removing the roof and building another level, to fixing or replace anything in your home. + 0 moreI've rated PaintJar as "C" because I had to ask PaintJar to repair the wall line above the vanity (an area I'd have to look at every day) because the beige wall paint ran up over the white ceiling leaving a significant crooked line. Quality of paint was unacceptable and was not what Jonathan verbally promised. The second painter I hired (who is fantastic) was also surprised that PaintJar did not caulk around the door and window frames or caulk above the stair trim before the walls were painted. Second painter had to do this afterward UPDATED MAY 2011. Jonathan contacted me because, after reading the Angie's report I submited, he did not realize I was unhappy with the paint work. Jonathan indicated he would completely re-paint the entryway - with Benj Moore Regal - to remedy the paint job. He sent out Paul and Sebastian. They did an awesome job, completely repainting the two-story entry in two days. Paul and Sebastian were fantastic and extended themselves to do an amazing job. I respect Jonathan for contacting me and indicating he wanted to fix the job so that it was up to his usual standards. I am very happy with the new paint job.
Description of Work: Due to a mold problem in the attic, large sections of the ceiling in a 2-story entryway and bathroom had to be removed for mold remediation. Because of the 2-story entry way and stairs, scaffolding had to be erected. PaintJar cut out the ceilings to enable the mold remediation and new insulation to be installed. After the insulation was completed, PaintJar replaced the ceiling drywall. The drywall work was excellent. You can't even tell where the ceiling was cut. While the scaffolding was up, I asked PaintJar to paint the entry way and bathroom walls (but not the mouldings, window trim or doors). Because the entry way was a high traffic area and subject to scraps and marks, I asked Jonathan to use a high quality paint that could be "touched up" or easily cleaned. Jonathan said he would use "Benjamin Moore Regal - only the best." But, in fact, the painters used Benjamin Moore Super Spec...the cheapest, low quality paint. When the PaintJar painters replaced vents, they left multiple marks on the walls. I attempted to delicately touch up the marks, but the quality of the paint was so poor that every area that had touch-up paint applied (from the leftover paint PaintJar left) was easily visible....this really looked bad. I called in another painter to paint other rooms in the house and requested that he look at the walls and see if he could fix this. He did the best he could, but the paint repairs are highly apparent. The second painter indicated that it appeared PaintJar only applied one coat of paint instead of two coats (this can't be confirmed because I gave PaintJar keys to the house and I was not there when the work was done). All of this means that the 2-story entry-way will now have to be completely repainted....with better quality paint. PaintJar's work was unacceptable. The job was very expensive....and not worth it. Move on to choose another paint company recommended on Angie's. Finally, I asked Jonathan to mail my house key back to me and was frantic when it was lost in the mail. It was mailed to an address five blocks away, but fortunately showed up after bouncing around at the post office for four weeks.

Description of Work: Last winter I had insulation blown into all my house walls. This left about 100 unpainted patched holes in my exterior stucco. PaintJAR painted all the patches so that my house looked like it had just been entirely painted. They also powerscrubbed and stained my cedar deck and steps.

+ 2 moreThey showed up promptly to look at what needed to be done. They were very thorough. It took a little longer than we had hoped to get the quote. We didn’t use them as their quote was very high. They were expensive and we also needed a faster turnaround.

+ -1 moreWhen we interviewed them, the owner came to talk to us. That really impressed me. They did come in highest but he had great ideals and he really listened to us. When they started the work they were really clean. We lived in a condo everyday and when they were done working we did not have much dust. There were some fixtures that we did not have right and they helped us with it. They returned calls promptly. They are like artists; they are very creative.

+ -1 moreTHE JOB WAS LOUSY. SUPERVISION WAS ALMOST NON-EXISTENT, AND THEY ENDED UP FIRING SOME OF THE MEN WHO HAD BEEN SENT WITH THE CREW TO MY HOME. THEY DID NOT PAINT ONE OF THE WALLS IN THE BATHROOM INSISTING THAT THEY HAD ( I PUT HAND IN WATER AND UP TO THE WALL AND IT DID ABSORB THE WATER) . THEY DID COME BACK AND SPENT ANOTHER DAY CORRECTING THINGS, BUT THERE WERE STILL PROBLEMS AND I WOULDN'T USE THEM AGAIN. IT TOOK UP TOO MUCH OF MY TIME. THEY CHARGED ME MORE THAN THEY QUOTED ME AND WE GOT INTO IT. THEIR CREWS WERE CARELESS AND MADE A TOTALLY MESS OF THE APARTMENT.
