He guided us through the selection, showing us the best buys -- not the most expensive -- for our needs, then came out to remeasure when we had questions about stair options, called during installation to make sure all was going well, and was absolutely wonderful during and after the whole process. After 55 years of married life with many moves and recarpeting experiences, this was tops, thanks to him.
Description of Work: Wall to wall carpeting in 4 bedrooms, closets, office, stairs, and halls.

+ 1 moreOn11/19/15 a rep for Olson Rug came to our house in response to a call to remove carpeting from our downstairs apartment, so we could evaluate the hardwood floors underneath and get ready for new tenant. Got a price of $390 for removal; paid $200deposit; set appointment for 11/30 for removal crew. Based on all of this, we scheduled 3 hardwood floor guys for 12/1 and 12/2 to look at floors. On 11/30, no crew from Olson Rug! Called sales rep who said "Gee, we are having a problem with our new 'merchant system' and your order is not in the system." Charge was sure posted to AMEX tho! No luck hearing back from sales rep, took 10 calls to HP store before a human answered, who would only give me a number to Chicago "central office"; no answer there except voice mail for over 30 minutes, until message finally said that they were closed for the day (2:00 PM!) I am now left to find another carpet company to do the removal (try Empire or Luna: could not possibly be any worse for customer service!) and have to cancel/reschedule the hardwood floor guys. And in all likelihood will be delayed by a month in being able to get a new tenant into the apartment. Thanks a bunch, Olson Rug...
Description of Work: Nothing: and that's the problem. Did not show for carpet removal appointment and no response to our calls for help.

+ -1 moreThe service was excellent. I would put them on the top of the list. Two guys came out and it took them about a half day to complete it. They did a good cleaning up. They gave me an estimate, scheduled a time and they came out and did a great job.

Description of Work: I had a miserable experience with Olsen Rug and couldn't use them if I had wanted to. First, I went into their Skokie location to get started... that was fine, they were friendly, helpful, scheduled someone to come out and measure my space. That was all fine. Then it got weird. I never heard anything. Ever. I finally called back to inquire about the quote since my space had been measured. At this point, I learned that the Skokie store closed and they moved everything to Highland Park. I thought it was odd that no one called to let me know since I had a quote/order in process...but no. So, I had to drive to Highland Park to pick materials after the quote. Fine. I did. But I had some more questions/decisions to make. I asked them to send me samples because I was unable to take samples with me - they said no problem. They never arrived. I called three times. On the third time, I was told the vendor no longer provides samples. Ok? Glad it took a month to figure that out. So I went back in, chose my products in the store and asked for the quote. I was told my new rep was out and he'd get back to me. Never happened. I called a number of times (3? 5?) and NO ONE EVER CALLED BACK. In my last call I expressed my serious frustration that this process had already taken over two months and I just wanted to get my floor started (and finished). I ended up using Dalia Floors and they were awesome! I'll never go back to Olsen Rug. Miserable. No concern for me, no professionalism, not even willing to meet me half way. Great way to run a business.
